Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Can’t We Talk Nicely?
Jiang Zhiyi said assertively, "It’s possible. In a few months, it’s the college entrance exam, and once I’m in college, I won’t have to live in that house every day. We’ll definitely meet less often, and after college, we can even move out."
"It’s you, not us. Pay attention to your words." Shen Weiyi corrected him.
"Fine, whatever you say." Jiang Zhiyi was being unusually compliant, afraid that a careless word might make that girl turn away and leave.
"So, Sister Yiyi, can you forgive me now?"
Shen Weiyi replied, "I think we should focus on the college entrance exam for now. As for everything else, let’s talk about it after the exams."
Jiang Zhiyi wanted to say something else when he heard a familiar voice call out, "Brother." They turned around and saw Xu Chenxi standing in front of the academic building.
It seemed she had been waiting specifically for Jiang Zhiyi.
Shen Weiyi’s expression suddenly turned cold. "Your dear sister is here looking for you. I’m leaving!" After speaking, she was about to leave, but Jiang Zhiyi grabbed her wrist.
"What are you doing?" Shen Weiyi glared at him.
Jiang Zhiyi said, "Can’t we talk nicely without being sarcastic?" After speaking, he dragged her over to Xu Chenxi.
"Did you need something?"
Xu Chenxi’s gaze fell on Jiang Zhiyi’s hand holding onto Shen Weiyi’s, and her expression subtly changed, but she soon regained her composure and spoke softly, "Brother, I forgot to top up my meal card. I borrowed a friend’s for lunch, but her card doesn’t have much money either. Can I have dinner with you?"
Before Jiang Zhiyi could answer, she turned her head towards Shen Weiyi with a happy face, "Sister Yiyi, have you and my brother made up?"
"I thought for a moment that Sister Yiyi really wouldn’t deal with my brother anymore. I just knew you transferred schools because of my brother. It’s so nice to see you two getting along again. I can rest assured for both of you."
Xu Chenxi’s words sounded nice, but every sentence reminded Shen Weiyi of what she had declared in the cafeteria at noon. Who had sworn firmly that they would not get back together, not continue to entangle with each other? How long had it been? Didn’t she wonder if it hurt to slap her own face?
"We haven’t made up, so you can indeed rest assured." Shen Weiyi said, pulling her hand from Jiang Zhiyi’s palm, "You two can chat on your own, I’m leaving." After speaking, she turned around directly.
Jiang Zhiyi instinctively wanted to follow her, only to hear Shen Weiyi say, "Don’t follow me, or I can’t guarantee I won’t transfer schools again."
Jiang Zhiyi’s steps suddenly froze.
"Brother, did I say something wrong?" Xu Chenxi pinched her fingertips, looking aggrieved and uneasy, "I didn’t mean anything by it, Sister Yiyi seems to have misunderstood me."
"If you know you’re not good at speaking, then don’t speak next time." Jiang Zhiyi was irritable. He had just about managed to nearly appease that girl when her words spoiled everything.
Xu Chenxi’s face couldn’t help but turn pale, her eyes rimming slightly with red: "Sorry, I really didn’t mean it. Should I go explain to Sister Yiyi?"
"Never mind, don’t meddle in our issues!" Jiang Zhiyi pulled out a meal card from his pocket and handed it to her, "Go eat by yourself!"
"Aren’t you eating?" Xu Chenxi asked, holding the meal card and looking up at him.
"I lost my appetite." Jiang Zhiyi said, then turned and walked away.
Xu Chenxi stood there holding the meal card, a glint of resentment flashing in her eyes.
He had never talked to her like that before.
It must be Shen Weiyi, she must have said something to him.
