Leaving the professor’s house in the afternoon and halfway through their walk, Senior Brother Mu left first because he had to take an urgent phone call.

Sheng Ting looked at Shen Weiyi and said, "It’s still early, do you want to go anywhere?"

Shen Weiyi shook her head.

Her life had always been simple, especially after breaking up with Jiang Zhiyi; it had been nothing but study, study, and more study.

Unless Shen Tan and Qin Zhen invited her out, she hardly ever left her place.

However, after getting to know Little Bao, the frequency of her leaving the house had somewhat increased.

She did feel like visiting Little Douding, but considering her current relationship with Sheng Ting, it seemed a bit awkward to actively suggest a visit to the Sheng Family.

It rather felt like an anxious bride-to-be eager to meet her in-laws for the first time.

Thinking it over, she decided against it.

Eventually, the two of them returned to the laboratory.

As usual, one was conducting experiments and the other reading, both immersed in their own activities without disturbing each other, yet within sight whenever one looked up.

It wasn’t until her stomach rumbled that Shen Weiyi realized it was getting late.

Looking up at Sheng Ting, she saw he was still deeply engrossed in his work, unlikely to finish anytime soon. After considering for a moment, she tidied up her things and left the lab alone. She went to the nearby canteen and packed two meals.

Sheng Ting had just noticed her absence and was about to call her when he saw Shen Weiyi appear with the packed meals. He immediately put down his phone and walked over to her, saying, "I’m sorry, I was too engrossed just now and lost track of time."

"It’s okay, let’s eat first!" Shen Weiyi placed the takeout boxes on the table.

"Okay!"

After they had eaten, Sheng Ting tidied up the table, preparing to take out the trash, when the lights in the lab suddenly dimmed.

Shen Weiyi tensed up instantly, "What happened?"

"It’s nothing, I forgot today is the weekend. It must be the scheduled power cut-off time for the labs," Sheng Ting calmly reassured her.

On weekends, there weren’t many people in the lab, so the power would typically be cut off around eight in the evening unless arrangements had been made in advance with the lab manager.

However, such matters were usually handled by Senior Brother Mu, who hadn’t come in the afternoon and probably had forgotten to take care of it.

Sheng Ting randomly took out his phone to go outside and check the situation.

Just as he was about to turn around, his wrist was grasped by Shen Weiyi.

"Don’t go."

Her grip was strong, her fingertips trembled slightly, and Sheng Ting turned around in surprise.

In the darkness, he couldn’t clearly make out Shen Weiyi’s facial expression, but from the strength in her wrist, he could tell that she seemed quite nervous.

Sheng Ting turned on the flashlight of his phone and then he noticed that Shen Weiyi looked somewhat pale.

"What’s wrong?" His expression suddenly became serious.

"It’s nothing." The dim light from the phone made Shen Weiyi’s face look a bit better, but she still seemed to be in discomfort.

Guessing that she probably had a fear of the dark, Sheng Ting furrowed his eyebrows and then said to her, "Pack up your things first, and let’s get out of here."

"Okay!" Shen Weiyi steadied herself, indeed having a fear of the dark so much so that she needed the lights on even while sleeping at night; however, not many people knew about this.

She had already organized her things earlier, so she simply put them in her bag. Seeing that she was ready, Sheng Ting took her hand and said, "Be careful, follow me."

However, when the two arrived at the door, they discovered they couldn’t unlock the door of the lab.
