Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Filled with Pain Everywhere

Shen Weiyi pulled out her phone to call Jiang Zhiyi, but it rang for a long time with no answer.

She was terribly anxious but had no idea where to look for him.

Just as she was at a loss, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure sitting on the steps to the side.

The person sat there all alone, radiating loneliness.

Seeing him, Shen Weiyi’s heart that was suspended in her chest "thudded—" and settled.

She then walked up and said, "Who allowed you to come out? Don’t you realize you’re a patient right now?"

Jiang Zhiyi lifted his eyes and looked at her, saying, "I’m fine."

His eyes were then a dull gray, and his aura was downcast.

"Who said you were fine? Do you even know that you just passed out?" Did he even know that scaring people could scare someone to death?

Jiang Zhiyi pursed his lips and after a long moment, lowered his eyes and said in a low voice, "I don’t like the infirmary."

Shen Weiyi felt as though something had gripped her heart.

She thought of his mom’s death, and ever since then, he disliked hospitals so much that he would never go, no matter how ill he was. Understanding this, Shen Weiyi’s heart softened and she said softly, "But you can’t just run off without saying anything."

"And why aren’t you eating properly?" Shen Weiyi sat down beside him.

Jiang Zhiyi replied, "Not hungry."

"What do you mean ’not hungry’?" Nobody isn’t hungry.

"I have no appetite, so I’m not hungry." It was because she was not there anymore; no one would ask if he had eaten or what he had eaten. No one would urge him to eat.

Suddenly, even eating seemed to have become an unbearable task.

Shen Weiyi pursed her lips and said, "It’s your own body; you can’t always expect others to feel sorry for you."

"Will anyone still care about me?" Jiang Zhiyi looked up at her, his eyes pleading.

Shen Weiyi suddenly found herself unable to speak. She looked down, silently opened the takeout box she had, and handed it to him, saying, "Eat up, after you finish I’ll go with you to finish the rest of the drip."

Jiang Zhiyi’s eyes gradually dimmed, as if his world was losing its last bit of light. However, eventually, he accepted the takeout box from Shen Weiyi’s hands.

At this hour, there wasn’t much left to eat in the cafeteria. Shen Weiyi had picked out what he liked as much as she could.

However, the food felt tasteless to him, yet he still finished it all without leaving any behind.

After tossing the takeout box into a nearby trash bin, the two of them returned to the infirmary, one after the other.

His IV bag was still there. The school doctor glanced at them and, without asking further, replaced the IV line and helped set up the needle again.

The school infirmary was quiet though others were present.

Everyone took the chance to enjoy a rare moment of rest.

Jiang Zhiyi leaned back on the sickbed and closed his eyes for a nap while Shen Weiyi sat by his side, watching over him.

Time passed second by second, during which neither of them spoke again.

Upon leaving the infirmary, Shen Weiyi looked at Jiang Zhiyi and said, "Your condition doesn’t suit continuing the military training, ask your instructor for leave."

Jiang Zhiyi was silent, his gaze distant, and it was unclear whether he had heard or not.

"I’m going!" Seeing this, Shen Weiyi didn’t continue. He was a grown man; he should learn to take care of himself. After glancing at him, she then headed toward the direction of the drill field.

Only when Shen Weiyi turned around did Jiang Zhiyi withdraw his gaze, watching her departing figure, his heart and eyes filled with pain.
