Rosie's Games -
Chapter 554 554: Coming Back 1
Rosalind felt as if something abruptly pulled her into out of the limbo. It was as if she was being sucked from that dark limbo, and the next thing she knew, she was already inside another room.
She opened her eyes and squinted at the lights seeping through the blinds. The scent of tea drifted towards her. She immediately turned to the side and found Lucas staring at her.
"Lucas?" she called, wondering if this was somehow a dream or even a hallucination.
"You have been asleep for too long..." Lucas got up and walked towards the large canopied bed where she was lying. Seeing this, she tried to sit down, only to feel a sudden jolt of pain all over her body. She grimaced.
"Slowly..." Lucas sat down next to her and helped her sit up, adding a few pillows behind her, and using them to support her back. "It will disappear soon." His tone was gentle as if he was afraid she would somehow break if he raised his voice.
However, Rosalind had no time to think about this. The pain in her head was excruciating enough. She immediately held her forehead and massaged it.
"Water," Lucas said, and she accepted the cup without asking too many questions. Drinking the water, Rosalind frowned as thoughts and questions filled her head. Was it possible to become a stranger to one's own body? For some reason, she felt as if it had been so long since she had control of her own body.
She immediately wanted to ask him how long it had been since the goddess took over her body, but the pain in her head was enough to shut her up.
She closed her eyes and tried to calm her breath.
A part of her always knew that Lucas would take her out of that place, that he would save her. However, she was starting to wonder when she started relying on him too much. Was it blind trust? Or was it something else?
After a while, the pain in her head finally became manageable enough for her to open her eyes and look at him. She was not exactly surprised to see him already gazing at her with that gentle look on his face.
"How do you feel?"
"Better..." Rosalind had actually forgotten the fact that she could use her own blessing to numb the pain away. It seemed that she had grown so used to being in that place that she had actually forgotten how to use her own body! Comical, she thought inwardly.
"Shall we eat something?" Lucas asked.
"That would be good," Rosalind said. She stared at him, and almost immediately, a tacit understanding flashed in their eyes. There was no need to talk about what happened, at least not right now. There were more important things she should focus on, like food.
Not long after, Lucas returned with a food tray.
"Did you make this?" she asked, staring at the braised meat in front of her.
"It is just the two of us in this place..." Lucas answered.
"Oh," she said and waited for him to sit down on the bed so they could start eating. However, Lucas actually took another chair and dragged it next to her bed.
"You are not eating with me?" she looked at him, then towards the feast in front of her. There was a lot of food in front of her. Was she supposed to eat everything?
"No," Lucas smiled. "Do you need me to feed you?"
"What? No," Rosalind snorted. Her body still felt weak, and her head was still aching, but her mouth was perfectly fine. "I thought you would only serve me soup," Isn't that the most logical option?
"Would you like to have some soup?"
"No," she answered almost immediately. Realizing her reaction, Rosalind awkwardly chuckled. A soup would not be enough to fill her stomach! She was thankful that he had prepared so many delicious foods for her.
He raised an eyebrow; his handsome face only made her more embarrassed. It seemed that he already knew her too well. However, she had no time to stare at him when she heard her stomach growl. She immediately lowered her head as she decided to devour everything.
Not long after, Rosalind stared at the empty plates in front of her, satisfied with his cooking. "I didn't know you knew how to cook so many dishes," she remarked.
"You learn how to do things when you've lived for so long..."
She smiled and accepted the tea that he offered her. As expected, it was a bitter tea, the tea of the north. A nostalgic feeling wrapped around her as she took her first sip. Then her smile became even wider.
Isn't it wonderful to be alive?
Isn't it wonderful to have her own body, eat some delicious food, and simply be happy?
"Shall we walk to the balcony?" he asked.
"Yes," she was too full to sleep, ah. She needed to move her body!
Lucas immediately supported her, and the two of them walked towards the balcony of the room where they could see the beautiful garden with so many flowers. Rosalind immediately smiled.
For a few minutes, neither of them spoke as they gazed at the gardens. After a while, Rosalind closed her eyes as she bathed in the sweet scent of the flowers. The wind wrapped around her like a comfortable blanket.
Peace.
This place was too peaceful.
Suddenly, she felt Lucas hug her from behind. However, she did not do anything to stop him. She simply let his arms wrap around her, covering her like a cocoon. It was warm and comfortable and somehow... reassuring.
Right, his warmth gave her something that she wanted- security.
"I have seen the past," Rosalind spoke after a long silence. She did not intend to break the current atmosphere, but she felt like this was the perfect moment to talk about what happened.
She then turned around and stared into his blue eyes. "She showed me everything," Rosalind added. "Including the fact that it was you... who killed her."
He simply nodded, his eyes showing a few emotions that she did not recognize. However, it was clear that he already expected this.
"And?" he asked.
"And what?" she retorted.
"Do you despise me for killing the woman who only wanted to kill the Demon Emperor?"
