Chapter 528 528: Turith 1
Turith had been ruled by the Gliss Family, a family gifted in wielding the power of Ice, for centuries.
Turith or the Empire by the Sea, boasted stunning shores that stretched along its western coast.
The sandy beaches glistened under the warm sun, welcoming both locals and visitors to enjoy the gentle waves and refreshing ocean breezes. Palm trees swayed along the coast, providing shade and adding to the idyllic scene.
At least, this was the usual case. Right now, the once beautiful shore reeked of blood and sulfur, emanating a foul and dangerous odor.
A terrible rift opened in the sea—a dark portal from which demons poured out. The once tranquil waves now churned with dark energy as the portal continued to spew forth these vile creatures.
On the shore, brave knights and resilient people fought valiantly against the invading horde. The air was filled with anguished wails and menacing growls, battle cries, and the clash of steel against monstrous flesh. The stench of blood permeated the air as the demons started devouring humans.
"General… it is slowing down, but we cannot hold on any longer. We cannot find cursed weapons in time… our soldiers will die from exhaustion," the young prince, also a lieutenant, spoke.
Since the South was generally safer compared to the North, many of their younger knights had yet to experience combat. Although there were monsters by the sea, it was not comparable to what they faced now.
With the lack of experience and skill, Turith immediately suffered when the first horde of demons appeared from the portal. "Did you already inform your father to leave and go to the north?" the General asked, his eyes fixed on the portal.
They had tried to use Ice to fight against the demons, but it was as useless as using coal to kill a fire. It only angered the demons and made them wilder, and, to be honest, more dangerous.
"He is not leaving. What kind of emperor would immediately leave at the first signs of trouble?"
"This is not a mere trouble! This is something else," the older General spoke. "This is something I have never seen or heard of, even in the past." He pursed his lips. "The Gliss Family would not be able to handle it. I suggest that you leave this place if you really want to save your life."
"But I am a Prince. I would stand by my people."
"You would not be able to stand for anyone once you are dead," the General glared at him. "This is a fight that you cannot win. Leave and save yourself." Without saying another word, he handed the Prince a token. "This… this belonged to my grandfather who fought for the Duke of Wugari. You can use this to gain access to Wugari and seek shelter under the Duke's estate.
Only he… only he and his people should be strong enough to fight these demons."
The Prince frowned. Why would a General working for the seven families insist that the Gliss Family, known for their Ice blessing, is not capable of handling the problem and even ask him to seek shelter in the North? "What of the other Empires?" he asked.
The Korusta Empire is strong, and so is the Aster Empire. Even the Raston Empire, where the Thun Family resides, is one of the strongest members of the Seven Families. Why would he advise him to go to the north instead of going to one of those Empires?
"The North hated us…" The Prince uttered. He had heard about this from his father. His father, the current Emperor of Turith, Emperor Deleer, had once mentioned that the North was not scared of the Seven Families. Yet, for some reason, the Duke was not doing anything to suppress the power of the Seven Families.
At that time, the young prince snorted. He mainly did not understand the position of the North for the safety of the South. He had heard that the beasts were not as ferocious as they were in the past and that even a kid could actually kill one.
So, when he heard that the Duke and a few of his people stopped a Beast tide that not even the members of the Seven Families could stop, he started to believe his father's words.
"Not when you have this token," the General spoke. "Leave now. Or it might be too late. I have— I have a feeling the next horde of demons… might be enough to end Turith and its people."
"You— " The Prince clutched the token as if it was the only lifesaving thing that he had. To get to the North, he first needed to teleport to Korusta, then from Korusta directly to Wugari. However, he was still not certain if Korusta would even allow them to enter the Korusta Empire.
The arrogance of the Blaize Family of Fire was well known.
Moreover, when Lachlan Blaize was accused of working with a sorcerer, Turith was one of the Empires who chose to condemn them and work with Ena Thun! That, alone, should be enough reason for Korusta to decline their entry in this very trying time!
His thoughts were interrupted by a loud boom followed by the ground shaking. As if on cue, menacing growls echoed in the air, and more demons poured out from the portals. Seeing the black demons with grotesque features from afar, the young prince shivered.
"Leave! Now!" The General said, his hand on his large sword, his face serious. "Take care of the Emperor!"
The Prince trembled. However, just as he was about to turn around and leave, he heard another loud sound. It was as if a rock hit another rock. The collision actually created waves on the sea!
"That— " The Prince and the General froze when they saw what just hit the demons. It was… another human?
"Is not that…" the General swallowed when he saw the man wielding a sword, floating in front of the portal. "Is not that the Duke of Wugari?"
