Rosie's Games -
Chapter 522 522: Portal 2
Amidst the chaos, Belisarius watched as Lucas battled the horde of demons in the air. His moves were quick and fierce, taking them down one after another. Seeing this, Belisarius used his abilities to help. The demons howled, their cries filling the air with an eerie sound.
Meanwhile, a strange sensation began to stir within Rosalind's body. It was like a humming, a soft vibration that seemed to resonate from the depths of her being. The portal, instead of fighting her, seemed to invite her closer, beckoning her forward.
She felt a barrier materialize in front of her, shielding her from the dangers of the battle. It was as if the portal recognized her proximity to the fight and sought to protect her.
Rosalind then turned her attention towards Lucas and Belisarius.
As Lucas fought bravely, Belisarius stood by, supporting him from behind. The intensity of the battle surged, and the demons put up a relentless fight. Yet, with each strike, Lucas pushed through, his movements fast and deadly.
The scene was a whirlwind of action—clashing, striking, and battling against the demonic forces. The air was thick with tension, filled with the roars of demons and the clash of weapons.
Somehow, the humming within her interrupted her stupor. For some unknown reason, she could feel the portal's invitation grow stronger.
Rosalind took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. The humming inside her surged, aligning with the rhythm of the battle. It was like a pulse, a call to action.
No. She was quick to steady herself.
Belisarius had already warned her about this in their conversation.
There might be some reactions the moment the portal opened, but this was because she already absorbed demonic energy in her body. The portal would naturally react to something demonic, as they too had the same demonic energy.
However, this did not mean that something was wrong with her.
She focused her attention on the portal and thought of the spell that Belisarius had taught her. Then she thought about closing the portal.
"What are you doing!?" a male's voice suddenly interrupted her stupor. Rosalind was surprised to see that it was her father, Martin Lux.
Next to him was the new Emperor and then Dorothy Lux.
"Who are you and why are you—"
"Isn't this the Duke of Wugari?" the new Emperor of Aster, Emperor Ranario Duance stared at Rosalind before turning his gaze toward the Duke.
"Why are you here?" Rosalind asked.
"Miss Lin… it is nice seeing you." The Emperor spoke.
"Leave… take your men. It is dangerous."
"We are here because Miss Dorothy could close that portal—"
"If you do not know, the Duke is currently trying to close it," Rosalind never expected that Dorothy would actually try to close the portal. Her gaze landed on the beautiful woman with white hair behind Martin. "His Blessedness cannot fight. Please leave this place; the Duke will take care of everything."
"But the portal needs to be closed…" Martin spoke. "Dorothy received the blessing of the goddess, granting her the power to close the portal—"
"The Duke would not be here if he did not receive the same blessing," Rosalind simply smiled. Then she raised her hand. A black mist covered her arm. She then spread her fingers apart and the mist moved away from her, targeting the demons that came out of the portal.
"Now leave…" she met Dorothy's eyes. "Please do not disturb the Duke."
"This matter does not concern the Wugarians. Why is the Duke here?" Dorothy could not help but ask. Despite the loud booms and the frightening cries of the demon behind Rosalind, Dorothy seemed really calm, her expression serene. "May I know if the Duke had something to do with the portals?"
Rosalind rolled her eyes. Without saying a word, she lifted her hand and the mist moved towards them.
"You—what are you doing?" Martin asked.
"I said leave…." Rosalind said. She did not have the time to argue with Dorothy in the middle of this!
"A sorcerer would actually dare to display her abilities in front of me?" Martin asked. "The Goddess—"
Out of nowhere, the mist transformed into swords and floated in front of everyone.
"Leave… or I will make you," Rosalind uttered. "The Duke will be explaining this matter in front of everyone else later on. For now… your primary duty is to protect the Emperor and your people. Instead of wasting your time here… go and help them!"
"I believe Miss Lin had a point. The Duke of Wugari never did anything to hurt Aster," the Emperor met Rosalind's eyes. He nodded at her as if telling her that he would take care of things.
The fact that it was Rosalind who helped the new Emperor deal with the previous Emperor was something that both of them knew.
"Your Majesty—"
"Leave at once!" the Emperor immediately said. Seeing his resolute expression, Martin was forced to take a step back. Right now, the politics in Aster are still very complicated and fragile. He wanted to use this opportunity to once again gain the support of the people. So, Rosalind's suggestion about him helping the wounded only made sense.
He immediately looked at the sullen Dorothy. "Let us leave—"
"The Goddess wanted me to close the portal. I shall—"
"Miss Dorothy does not know how to fight, no?" Rosalind smiled without hiding the mockery in her voice.
"You—"
Without saying a word, one of the swords suddenly moved towards Dorothy's way. As a response, Dorothy was forced to take a step back. She could, of course, fight against the sorcerer, but she did not want to show any of her abilities in front of the others. "What are you doing?"
However, Rosalind seemed to have lost all of her reasoning as she now directed all of the swords towards Dorothy's way.
Seeing this, Martin was quick to pull her daughter behind his back. "We are leaving!"
"Good…" Rosalind smiled. Seeing them start to leave, she let out a sigh of relief and once again started chanting the spell that Belisarius taught her.
This time, she finally felt some changes in the portal.
