Rise of the Harem King -
Chapter 99: The ambush of a desperate woman
Chapter 99: The ambush of a desperate woman
All around, it was possible to see the corpses of the enemies the group of students had defeated. In particular, it was possible to see that Morrigan had carbonized a large number of enemies.
However, in the center of it all, a colossal creature known as the Giant King Mantis roared. it was the only one who hadn’t been defeated yet.
That said, the only person who stepped forward to face him was Alexia. Not that the others were incapacitated, but she had asked them to leave this fight to her. She wanted to face that monster to test her new power.
During the long journey, Morrigan ended up reminding Davi about the fact that he hadn’t made good use of his <Blessing of the Harem>. In fact, since Ember got angry with the power she gained, he ended up forgetting about it.
However, if he stopped to think, the abilities he could grant were absurdly powerful. And, as a test, he used it on Alexia, giving her a powerful new ability.
Anyway, the monster roared, revealing its sharp blades that reflected the sinister light of the rift, while its multifaceted eyes followed every movement of the girl.
Then he advanced with ferocity. The main strength of that beast was its absurd speed, however, he was surprised to notice that his opponent surpassed him in speed.
Alexia took a deep breath, feeling the magical energy flow through her body like an electric current. Then she activated the power she was eager to use.
She activated <Free Soul> and suddenly felt that everything around her had changed. The feeling was a little strange, as if everything was in slow motion.
But she had already trained with these powers in the previous days and had gotten used to the change.
But one thing that never failed to impress was the feeling of freedom. Suddenly, her body became light as the wind.
It was as if she had merged with the very air, an ethereal presence impossible to contain. The weight of gravity ceased to exist for her, and the feeling of freedom was excellent.
The Mantis attacked instantly, its blades slicing through the space where Alexia should have been. But she was no longer there.
With impressive speed, Alexia glided across the battlefield like a blur. Time seemed to slow down for everyone except her.
But beyond that, there was something even more impressive; even when the enemy, by some miracle, managed to keep up with her speed, its attacks passed right through her, as if she were a mirage.
When she unleashed that power, she truly became like the wind, so solid objects passed through her. However, she was still vulnerable to magical attacks. Therefore, when her enemy wielded its paws with magic, she finally decided to dodge for real.
"You’re too slow," the girl said with a smile, enjoying her opponent. Then she cut off one of its paws, spinning perfectly in the air. Her <Moon Slash> was greatly fortified by that ability.
The Mantis roared both in frustration and lamenting the pain it felt. It spun its blades, trying to predict her movements. Alexia smiled.
"It’s no use... I am the wind." She floated in the air in a movement impossible for a normal human.
And once again, she dodged her enemy’s attacks. However, Davi, who was watching this, began to grow impatient, noticing that she was taking too long to defeat her enemy.
"Don’t forget that your time limit is only 5 minutes!" he shouted at the girl, afraid that she was wasting it.
"I know, silly," Alexia replied, dodging another blow with ease. "But you could at least let me have some fun." The girl sighed slightly, but she knew her beloved was right.
I guess it’s time to take this fight seriously... she thought, and a confident smile spread across her face.
Then she shot upwards like an arrow, leaping from side to side in midair. Her swords gleamed as she delivered rapid blows to the creature’s body.
Each cut easily bypassed the monster’s defenses, leaving large open wounds. Her absurd speed greatly increased her cutting power.
The monster screamed, swinging its blades frantically. But it was useless. Nothing could touch her. That said, it was also more resistant than the woman expected, and despite all the wounds she inflicted, it still hadn’t fallen.
Alexia’s heart raced when she realized her ability was about to end. But it was too late for the monster.
With a final move, she spun in the air, descending in a perfect arc, then activated <Magical Blade> and <Moon Slash> at the same time.
Normally, using those two abilities at the same time in that way was impossible, due to the rebound effect on the body, but she no longer had that limitation.
So her magical blade extended, and she cut through the air in a perfect half-moon, but the attack covered a much larger area than usual. And, thanks to that, she cut the colossal creature in half with a single blow.
The Giant King Mantis remained motionless for a moment, as if its body hadn’t realized it was already dead.
Its eyes flashed in despair as a luminous crack formed in the center of its torso. Then, with a horrible cracking sound, its body split in two, the halves sliding slowly before crashing heavily to the ground.
The impact raised a cloud of dust, and a final agonizing screech echoed through the rift before everything fell silent.
Alexia landed softly on the ground, panting, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she looked at the destruction she had caused. Then, a wide and lively smile appeared on her face.
"I did it!" she shouted, raising her arms in celebration.
Her body still trembled with adrenaline, and the feeling of victory was overwhelming. Without thinking twice, she turned and, with a boost, jumped straight towards Davi.
"I was amazing, don’t you think?" she asked, not caring at all about the audience they had.
Before he could react, she was already in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her lips against his in a sudden and energetic kiss.
Several people stared at him with envy, others, especially the low-ranking students, just stared at him with even more admiration.
"Okay, let’s go, we’ve been in this place for too long," Sophia interrupted the two’s fun, partly because she was jealous.
Then she wrapped her arm around Davi’s, pressing her breasts against him and trying to draw his attention to her.
Alexia responded in a similar act, as the two competed as usual.
Carlos, seeing that, almost tore his own hair out. He couldn’t tolerate seeing his queen debasing herself in that way to try to attract the attention of that useless man.
That said, the other girls on the trip had a different opinion. Most of them stared at the two with envy, regretting not having the same courage as them.
After all, Davi, in addition to having a handsome face, was kind, combative, powerful, and intelligent. And he had an impressive ability to pay attention to all the people in the group.
When someone was hurt or feeling bad for some reason, he was always the first to notice, which won him the hearts of many girls.
"But I agree with Sophia, we need to go soon, we’re almost at the end of our journey," Davi had to intervene.
For fear that Amanda had interfered with the teleportation centers, the group decided to just follow the slower path, that is, they would continue defeating floor guardians floor by floor.
Strangely, throughout the journey, they didn’t encounter any other hunters, which led them to suspect that Amanda had closed the rift for exploration. But they still had hope that there would be employees in the main hall.
In this case, that was a building built on the first floor of the rift, which had already been completely cleared of monsters and where there were employees, healers, and even some structures made by humans.
Anyway, the monster that Alexia had just easily defeated was the guardian of the second floor. And, with that, after a little more than a week, their journey had finally come to an end.
Everyone was tired, but at the same time, everyone wanted to leave that place as quickly as possible, so they advanced.
Even if Amanda had planned anything, at that point there was nothing more she could do, and all that remained was to return with victory.
Or at least that’s what they thought.
"Arrest them," an arrogant blonde said as soon as the group stepped into the main hall.
Not only had the woman closed the rift, but she also decided, in a desperate act, to bring all the Enki policing forces that were loyal to her to arrest the students.
She knew that if they returned to Enki without her controlling the narrative, it would be her end, so she needed to do something, however desperate and stupid it might be.
That said, Sophia couldn’t help but smile, seeing her aunt’s desperate state.
