Rise of the Harem King
Chapter 76: Humiliation

Chapter 76: Humiliation

Davi felt his life slip away in a breath, but before his consciousness could be completely lost, a gentle hand pulled him back into the world of the living.

Then, with a sudden gasp, Davi opened her eyes.

Before him, Davi saw Alexia and Sherazade fighting. How was that possible? He was certain he had seen the girl fall to the bottom of the crater, dead.

But the answer to that question mattered little. Seeing an opportunity to strike at his enemy, the boy lunged forward like a beast.

He didn’t fully understand what was happening, just as his body reacted almost purely on instinct.

In an instant, Davi charged at his opponent, feeling an almost unfamiliar strength surging through his muscles. His eyes remained solely focused on the enemy before him.

Time seemed to slow as the sharp edge of his blade sliced through the air between them. Then he spun, attempting to activate, but it failed. He had already used <Air Slash> and his power didn’t fully reset this time.

Even so, he managed to advance with impressive speed, moving with perfect precision. Sherazade tried to turn to evade the attack, but it was too late, she barely managed to save her own life by sheer luck.

The blade in the boy’s hands sliced through the air in an instant, finally meeting the flesh of his enemy. The blade effortlessly cut through the woman’s arm, severing bones and tendons.

Sherazade’s eyes widened in shock as her right arm spun through the air, leaving behind a trail of blood before crashing to the ground.

But she didn’t even have time to writhe in pain from the blow, as she saw before her a beast approaching, hungry for blood.

"Damn it..." she muttered, trying to retreat from her enemy.

Sherazade desperately tried to defend herself as the man continued to swing his sword mercilessly, but she was easily pushed back against his relentless assault.

She took several steps backward in an attempt to escape, but before she could find any route of retreat, Alexia closed in on her, along with another man she did not recognize.

"This is your end," Davi declared in a cold voice before advancing in an instant.

After a short exchange of blows, he managed to force the woman to throw herself under his sword. At the same time, the exhaustion from using <Limit Break> had caused her to fall to her knees for an instant.

With an unnecessary movement, Davi landed a powerful kick to his enemy’s head. He wasn’t in a hurry to kill her, after all, the anger still burned in his chest.

Throughout the entire fight up to this point, he had been desperately trying to survive, which was why he couldn’t allow those emotions to surface.

"Wait..." Sherazade pleaded in a desperate tone.

Driving his sword into his opponent’s thigh, Davi decided to hear what she had to say.

"What do you want?" he asked while twisting the blade, causing as much pain as possible.

"I didn’t know you had such a sadistic side..." Sherazade commented, trying to maintain a seductive smile.

"If you don’t talk now, I’ll cut off your head. I don’t have time to waste on you."

Davi stared at the woman before him with a cold expression, as if he were looking at trash.

"I’m much more useful than you think," she tried to argue, but Davi’s only response was to twist the blade once more.

"So what?"

Noticing this, the woman could only sigh, it was clear there was no way to convince her enemy to spare her.

Besides, she wasn’t the kind of woman who would beg for her life, she had her pride to maintain.

"I see. Then try to kill me," she decided to provoke the boy once again, confident that she could still survive all of this.

Davi stared at her with cold eyes, trying to judge the true intention behind her words.

Even so, he hesitated no longer. There was no reason to give this woman any more time, there was a simple solution to nullify whatever plan she had in mind.

With a swift and precise movement, Davi pulled the sword from Sherazade’s thigh, making her scream in pain.

He then raised the blade, the light reflecting off its sharp surface, and with a clean, precise strike, he severed the woman’s neck.

The sound of metal slicing through flesh echoed in the air, followed by a heavy silence.

Sherazade’s head rolled across the ground, her eyes still open, frozen in an expression of eerie calm, with an unsettling smile lingering on her lips.

Her body collapsed to its knees before falling lifelessly to the ground, blood gushing from the fatal wound.

Davi stared at the girl’s corpse for a few moments, trying to understand what she had meant. But he found nothing that could be dangerous—she was definitely dead.

He wiped his sword’s blade on Sherazade’s clothing and sheathed it. Then, he turned to his companions.

"Sophia..." he murmured in surprise, finally noticing that the blonde was there.

His mind worked quickly, and he could deduce with certainty that the one who had saved his friend’s life had been her.

He also saw that Alden had finally gotten up and was standing beside her, looking exhausted. Alexia was there as well, along with the professor who was supposed to be responsible for them.

"Thank you for saving Alexia’s life," Davi said, bowing deeply in gratitude toward Sophia.

"You should also thank me for saving you..." she smiled and glanced at the boy’s neck, where the necklace she had given him was no longer there. "Twice," she raised two fingers and grinned playfully. "You owe me your life twice now, I hope you pay me back."

"Yeah, yeah," Davi replied, not giving it much thought as he approached Alexia. "What do you want?"

"Hmm! Nothing for now," Sophia shrugged. "But I’ll think of something."

Davi smiled slightly at that, he knew the blonde would probably ask for something ridiculous. Then, turning his attention back to Alexia, he stepped closer and gave her a light kiss.

"How are you?"

"Fine," Alexia murmured, her voice almost like a soft sigh.

"Hey! What about me? I thought we were friends! Aren’t you worried about me?" Alden interrupted as he approached. He looked exhausted, but he still sounded full of energy.

Davi sighed lightly. "How are you?" he asked with an ironic tone. Then, stepping closer to his friend, he lightly patted his shoulder. "I’m glad you’re okay. But I knew you’d survive, you’re tough as steel. I know nothing can kill you."

Alden, who loved being praised, puffed out his chest proudly after hearing that and flashed a big smile.

"So, what’s the next step?" Davi asked the blonde. "I don’t know what the situation is."

"Well, Carlos is with the students, and I doubt anything bad will happen to them, but we need to go find them. One more thing, do you know anything about where Sylvia is?"

"I have a vague idea, but it’s a long story. I can tell you on the way back."

"Wait," Alexia interrupted the two. "Before that, we need to meet up with the lower-rank students." She then explained how Sherazade had scared them off.

They quickly found Marc, who had collapsed not far from there. The woman had kicked him away, but luckily, the blow hadn’t been fatal, otherwise, Sophia wouldn’t have been able to save him.

After that, they searched for the others, which, surprisingly, didn’t take long. Most of them had stayed together to defend themselves against any potential monster attacks.

Of course, with Sherazade’s intimidating presence and Davi fighting, no beasts had dared to approach, which had helped keep the students alive.

Additionally, with Sherazade’s death, the mark she had placed on them vanished, allowing a collective sense of relief to wash over them.

Hao had still lost his arm, but there was a chance it could be restored once they left the rift.

Regardless, having gathered everyone, they made their way into the crater. Davi effortlessly guided them through the temple until they reached the room where the others were waiting.

Along the way, he recounted everything that had happened to him and was surprised to learn that Sophia had never encountered Cain.

Upon entering the room, he felt relieved to see that both flames were still burning brightly.

However, without warning, one of them began to flicker erratically, its fire raging in an unusual and violent manner. Watching this, Davi felt a tightness in his chest, with no clue as to what it truly meant.

Meanwhile, far from the students, long after those who had killed her had left, a strange light enveloped Sherazade’s lifeless body.

Then her <Second Life> skill was automatically activated.

It was an incredibly powerful skill that activated automatically once it determined the user was in a safe situation.

However the price for its use was so high, when the skill was powerful. First, it could only be used once, so Scheherazade could not revive anymore. In addition, in order to revive she had to lose a skill randomly, as well as 10 levels in her class.
