Chapter 43: Plans for the future

The five of them sat at the table, as Lara and Ember decided to leave the gossip for later. Once again, the redhead took the initiative to start the conversation.

"I don’t think we should have someone in the harem that we can’t trust. So, who is this girl?" She stared at Luna with a certain hostility.

"She is my best friend and a very important woman to me," Davi replied in an irritated tone, making it clear that he would not accept any counterarguments. "I won’t expel her under any circumstances."

Once again, Ember was caught by surprise, but this time because of his refusal. She had been confident that Davi would accept any request from her to remove girls. Moreover, she regretted what she had said when she noticed how much it had irritated him.

Looking down like a guilty puppy, the redhead finally resigned herself and said,

"I’m sorry, I didn’t know. Welcome." She extended her hand to Luna.

Luna shily accepted the handshake. Then, when the redhead was not looking at her, she smiled softly, finding Ember’s quick mood changes cute.

"Okay, so does everyone here agree to share Davi?" Alexia took the lead.

Naturally, there was no disagreement. Maintaining control of the conversation, she mentioned that they needed to think about their next steps. Then, she turned to her master and asked:

"You’re going to form a team, right? What are your plans?"

"First, I need to reach rank D as soon as possible. I think I need to figure out a fast way to rank up."

"The fastest way is by defeating higher-ranked monsters in the Rift," Alexia responded. "Since we can’t enter alone in the first three months, the quickest way would be to get selected for the extra practical hunting class. If you perform well, you can advance quickly."

"The person selecting members for that class is the top student in Class S, right?" Lara commented. "I don’t think Sophia will want to help you after everything that happened."

"True," Ember agreed with her friend. "Wouldn’t it be easier to join one of the established teams? It’s easier to climb the internal hierarchy there than to raise your class rank in the academy."

She went on to suggest that everyone should join the Salamanders. Even though she wasn’t a fire archmage, she was still part of the Darnell family and had a few connections. In other words, she could help everyone secure at least decent positions.

"Besides, why do you even want to create a team?" Her voice rose, sounding both jealous and irritated. "Is it just to win that stupid bet you made with that fat blonde? It doesn’t make sense to waste time on her, hmph!"

The truth was, Davi’s decision had nothing to do with Sophia. While he did have plans to include her in his harem if possible, she was far from his priority.

Still, he wondered if he should tell the others what Morrigan had told him. He didn’t want them to worry too much. If possible, they should enjoy their school life and have fun... In the end, he decided to keep it a secret.

"I have my reasons," he said firmly. "This is the only way to achieve my dream, and I don’t plan to back down."

Alexia seemed impressed by the boy’s conviction and determination. On the other hand, the redhead wasn’t entirely convinced but didn’t intend to push the matter further.

"There’s just one problem. If you’re going to do this, we can’t help you," Lara said.

"I guess just me and Luna will be able to join your team for now," Alexi said.

For now, there were only two people who could formally join Davi’s group. That meant they needed to think of others who could join.

Alexia mentioned a busty girl she had seen in the hallways, describing her as cute and attractive. Ember, of course, got annoyed and refused. She didn’t want just any girl, and she probably didn’t want another girl with bigger breasts than hers, either.
