Chapter 184: Lucian vs Nathalie 3 (Flashback)

Lucian narrowed his eyes at Nathalie, her regal form framed in shimmering frost and glacial weapons. The chill in the air deepened, but it did little to dampen the thunderstorm he was about to unleash.

Then he spoke, voice low but heavy with power and authority.

"Be honored," he said, his spear lowering until it pointed toward the earth. "You will be the first to witness this art, taught to me by that battle-crazed excuse of a god."

His stance shifted, thunder crackling faintly under his skin.

"Thunder Control: Divine Art—Transcend."

The moment those words fell, the world responded.

A titanic lightning bolt cleaved the sky, a fierce spear of electrifying energy that erupted from the heavens and plunged toward Lucian with the ferocity of divine judgment.

The moment of impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air, the sound a deafening crack that echoed for miles.

Trees that once stood tall in their majestic forms were instantly reduced to charred remnants, their trunks vaporized into a fine ash that swirled like confetti in the chaotic gusts.

The earth itself trembled under the force, fracturing in chaotic patterns that spread like spider webs across the landscape, creating a sprawling crater of molten glass that shimmered under the waning light.

The jagged edges of blackened stone jutted out ominously, a stark contrast to the fiery molten core that bubbled within.

Nathalie, though positioned at a safe distance, felt the wave of heat and raw energy whip around her like a furious tempest.

Reacting swiftly, she conjured an impressive barrier of dense, mana-infused ice between herself and the burgeoning inferno.

The shimmering wall glowed with an otherworldly light as she braced herself against the onslaught, every particle alive with the power she had summoned to protect against the overwhelming blast.

She narrowed her eyes.

That bolt... that wasn’t ordinary lightning. It carried divinity.

And she knew that whatever came out of that crater... would not be the same human.

She decided not to be idle, since she couldn’t attack. Nathalie used the precious seconds of transformation wisely. Her mana surged as hundreds of ice spears, swords, and glaives formed in a majestic orbit around her.

They hovered like sentinels, gleaming with a bluish hue under her beast zone’s frost-filled air. Then, with an elegant step backward, she formed a glacial armor—layered plates of enchanted ice sealing over her fur in an ornate yet deadly design.

She looked like an empress born for war.

Then, after a few tense seconds.

The thunder quieted. The crater crackled with fading heat.

Dust, ash, and smoke billowed outward, then cleared.

Lucian stood at its heart.

His transformation was complete.

Golden lightning erupted from his form in elegant tendrils and fierce arcs, illuminating the space around him with an otherworldly brilliance.

His golden-blonde hair, now transformed into a radiant halo, seemed to flow upward as if caught in a perpetual celestial breeze, each strand shimmering with an ethereal glow.

His eyes, now a deep and vibrant gold, radiated like twin suns on the horizon, with bolts of lightning flickering in their depths, hinting at the storm of power contained within.

From head to toe, his silhouette appeared sculpted from pure, divine light, imbued with the essence of tempestuous skies.

He exuded an aura of transcendence.

Lucian gripped the spear tightly, the shaft alive with golden arcs of energy that crackled and danced beneath his touch. His muscular frame thrummed with a surging power—an overwhelming force that coursed through him.

Every fiber of his being ached, protesting against the strain, yet he resolutely buried the discomfort beneath sheer determination. The technique he was channeling, Divine Art: Transcend, was not designed for one at the Grandmaster rank, and he was acutely aware of the risks.

His bones groaned, nerves ignited, and blood vessels quivered under the tremendous pressure. But the path of retreat had been severed; there was no turning back now.

He looked up and saw her.

Nathalie stood like a goddess of frost, surrounded by hundreds of weapons, armored in the majesty of ice. The battlefield between them lay broken, blackened earth and frost-laced stone forming a frozen graveyard of power.

No more words.

Lucian stepped forward, taking a low stance.

His form blurred.

"Thunder Control: Spear Form, First Art—Lightning Thrust."

In an instant, he vanished into a streak of golden light.

----

Thunder echoed across the distant woods—but none of Lucian’s warriors had time to look.

They were surrounded.

Blood painted the earth, steaming against the cold soil. Bodies—both human and beast—littered the ground, twitching, unmoving, or torn apart entirely. The air stank of ozone, iron, and fur.

Of the fifty who had followed Lucian... only five Masters remained standing.

The sixth lay slumped against a tree, her breathing shallow, her right arm missing from the elbow down. A pool of blood gathered beneath her.

The surviving warriors were bruised, bloodied, and spent. Their armor was cracked or missing. One dragged a broken leg, and another barely held his short sword upright.

All were surrounded.

Over twenty tigers formed a wide ring around them—large, muscular beasts with snarling fangs and glowing eyes. Among them were nearly a dozen King- and Queen-ranked tigers, each exuding brutal, primal power. The rest were Knight-ranked, leaner, faster, more agile, and just as lethal in numbers.

It was hopeless.

But none of the warriors gave in.

One man, tall and broad with a deep claw gouge running across his face, tightened his grip on his cracked spear. He spat blood into the ground and faced the circle of predators.

"Let’s hope Lucian finishes his battle before we’re wiped out." His voice was grim, hoarse.

He looked around at the last of his comrades, each one nodding back in defiance.

"But for now..." He raised his spear, despite the shaking in his arm. "We fight to the end."

The circle of tigers crept closer.

Snarls rose. Claws dug into the ground. The ring tightened.

Lightning flashed in the far distance.

The warriors didn’t look.

They charged.
