Chapter 168: Academy Competition 14: Winners
Chapter 168: Academy Competition 14: Winners
BOOOM!
A dazzling golden light erupted from Christopher’s ring, instantly followed by a fierce red light from Advika’s.
GRAAAAAAAAA!
Tony and Zack recoiled, their heads snapping over their shoulders, as the three formidable dragons behind them, were now quivering in abject terror.
"...?!"
With confusion etched on their faces, Tony and Zack turned back to Christopher and Advika. Before their eyes, the golden light morphed, coalescing into a colossal, thirty-meter-tall golden dragon. Simultaneously, the red light from Advika transformed into a Legendary-stage Beast: her dinosaur, Hellfire.
The two magnificent beasts, the thirty-meter dragon and the fifteen-meter dinosaur, stood majestically behind Christopher and Advika.
__
[In the Arena.]
"This!!" The general shot to his feet, a gasp escaping his lips.
The three academy Deans, Alex, and even Zenith mirrored his shock.
"Is... Is that a Sky-stage Beast?!!"
They all murmured, their gazes riveted on the shimmering golden dragon.
"That’s why he refused to join me! He has such a beast behind him," Alex mused, a ripple of mild shock washing over him.
"That’s our master," Sunny declared with a triumphant smirk, while Xing and Phoenix nodded in agreement.
_
"Wow... Are you sure that young man is my Boss?" Michael, seated among the ordinary spectators, turned to Murphy and his daughter, a bewildered expression on his face.
"Yes... That is my friend," Murphy affirmed, a proud smile gracing his lips.
’Wow... He is wealthy and also powerful... What a dream man,’ Chaya thought, her eyes wide with admiration.
"Do you know he has such a beast?" she asked aloud, turning to Murphy.
"No idea," Murphy replied, then mused to himself, ’I am sure that is Lazarus... Did he evolve?’
_
Ethan turned to his wife, a faint smile playing on her lips. "What are you thinking?" he inquired.
Amara’s eyes were fixed on her son’s Beast before she turned to Ethan. "You are right, we are old, we need time to enjoy ourselves," she stated.
"What do you mean?" Ethan asked, surprised.
"You know what I mean." Amara’s gaze drifted to Leyla, who sat a few seats from Katherine. "It is time to pass on my powers... Let the young ones take on this new task." Her decision was made.
Ethan studied her for a moment, then nodded with a slight smile.
"Good." That was all he said, and took her hand then squeezed it gently. "I know of a place... It will be a good vacation for us."
Amara turned to him, her face alight with a bright smile, and nodded her head.
_
"General, a Sky-stage Beast? Isn’t the beast heading towards us a Sky-stage Beast?" the governor asked, her face etched with confusion.
"Yes... The beast heading to Cordelia has a combat strength of Lv11! But this golden dragon has the combat strength of Lv12! It alone can take on the Beast, and even kill it," the General responded with a laugh, clearly overjoyed.
"This is good!! I thought he was arrogant! Now I know why?!! Hahahaha! We are safe!"
The governor turned to Zenith, a smile also gracing her face, then asked, "So who do you think will win?"
"Of course, Christopher will win!" the two said in unison, and Zenith continued:
"The gap between a Divine-stage beast and a sky-stage beast is beyond comprehension! They aren’t even a match."
__
"Now you know why I backed down," the Dean of First Star Academy said, settling back into her seat.
Maxim stared at her, then turned to Howard and Monica. "Do you know about this?" he asked.
The two shook their heads. "I am also shocked... Christopher is the strongest in my academy, but I don’t know he is this strong," Howard muttered.
"You two know, only a peak supreme or transcendent level tamer can wield a Sky-stage Beast... Do you two think?" Maxim said, his gaze fixed on the screen.
"....?!"
The others were stunned into silence.
___
[Back to Christopher.]
"I said two moves, and two moves it will be!" Christopher declared, raising his hand and commanding Lazarus:
"Zarus!! Use your ultimate attack!!"
Advika mirrored his action, yelling:
"Hellfire!! Use your ultimate attack!"
GRAAAAAAAAA!!
The two beasts unleashed thunderous roars.
BOOOM!
Zack and Tony watched in horror as a colossal mini golden sun materialized above Lazarus, while a purple fireball condensed before Hellfire.
"Shit!!" Tony spat out, then bellowed. "All of you!! Use your strongest defense skill!!!"
GRAAAAAAAAA!!
Though terrified, the three dragons instinctively formed a massive fire barrier, enclosing themselves within, bracing for the impending onslaught.
"Go!!"
Christopher and Advika roared in unison, and the two beasts unleashed their devastating attacks toward the barrier.
"Fill it with your life force... That way, Tony’s skill won’t affect the attack," Christopher instructed in a low voice.
Advika nodded, infusing her life force into Hellfire’s attack, while Christopher channeled his life force into Lazarus’s attack.
’Advika has the Fire Goddess in her, so Tony’s attack won’t work... I hope so,’ he thought.
Tony and Zack watched as the two attacks hurtled towards them, smashing into the barrier. "Hold it!!" Tony yelled, infusing his strength into the barrier.
"How can I help?!" Zack screamed.
"You can’t infuse the barrier, but you can infuse me!! Borrow me your powers!" Tony urged.
"Yes!!" Zack channeled his life force, sending it all into Tony, who used it to power up the barrier.
CRACK!!!
"...?!"
"...!!"
The two were stunned, as cracks appeared ominously on the barrier.
"Shit!!" Zack hissed.
"A Sky-stage Beast is too powerful! And the other beast is supporting!" Tony muttered through gritted teeth.
CRACK!!!
"What should we do?! I say we surrender," Zack suggested.
"There is no chance for that..." Tony hesitated. "I say we jump backward."
Zack glanced over his shoulder. They were at the very edge of the barrier; any backward move would mean losing.
Fighting the two before them was utterly futile. The only way to win was backing out, which also meant losing, or else there was a high chance they would both be hospitalized by the attacks before them.
"All of you, back down!" he yelled.
WHOOSH!!!
CRACK!!!
BOOOOOM!!!
____
[Back at the Arena.]
BOOM!
Tony and Zack were violently propelled out from the gateway, smashing heavily onto the ground, both coughing up mouthfuls of blood.
"Brother!"
"Zack!"
Tori and Hank rushed to their aid, helping them.
"This?!" Tony sat up, clutching his chest, his gaze fixed on the shimmering gateway, as Christopher and Advika emerged from it, their beasts now in their non-combat forms perched on their shoulders.
"What are you?!" Tony demanded in horror.
"I said it... Two moves," Christopher replied, rubbing Lazarus’s head, his gaze fixed on Tony.
"You lose..." Advika added, turning to Zack. "Count yourself lucky."
Zack stared at her, then at Christopher, and slowly nodded his head in reluctant acceptance, no matter what, they lost.
WHOOSH!
They stood up, as the gateway closed, and the Announcer walked towards them.
"WOW!"
He muttered, still reeling from the spectacle.
"Alright everyone!!! You all saw it!! The winner of this competition is Vitality Academy, and congratulations to Master Christopher and his team for achieving this victory!!" He yelled into the microphone, and the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
The announcer continued, "Holding second position is Guardian Academy! And third place; the First Star Academy!!"
He turned to the governor, general, Sunny, and Zenith, who were now approaching them. Christopher raised an eyebrow at the sight of Sunny, then scanned the audience section, spotting Phoenix and Xing, with Xing waving at him.
’She is now a peak master level awakener, good job child,’ he thought, before turning his attention to the four individuals walking towards them.
_
"Wow!! That is Sir Sunny! He is the second person who entered the Supreme Level! And now, he is a peak Supreme-level Awakener!" Ethan exclaimed in shock.
"The Beast Kings are the strongest force in the world... Not anyone can defeat them," Amara said with respect.
"I heard from John, when we signed the contract, that Sunny will be here with two more Beast Kings," Ethan said, and Amara turned to him in surprise.
"Three kings in one place? Only their hidden master can summon them together," she said.
"I only wish we knew this Master, our family will be on the top," Ethan said with a sad smile.
Amara simply nodded, her gaze fixed on Sunny.
_
Everyone watched as the four figures walked towards the center of the arena, followed by ten men and women in black suits. The governor, general, Zenith, and Sunny stopped before the five captains of the five teams.
"You all did good, I am impressed," the governor said with a smile, her gaze sweeping over the five competitors. She turned and took a box from one of the men, handing it to Mountain.
"Congratulations, you won a Legendary-stage Beast’s egg, and your Academy and country gained five free passes to ask for resources from me."
"Thank you," Mountain said with a bright smile. Despite securing fifth place, these rewards were substantial.
"If you can... I am inviting you to stay and help Cordelia against the enraged Sky-stage Beast arriving in a month... Of course, there will also be rewards," she added.
Mountain pondered for a few seconds, then slowly nodded his head. "Am I the only one in my team?"
"I hate to admit it, but yes... The others aren’t strong enough for this battle," she answered.
Mountain looked over his shoulder at his team, and the three guys nodded their heads. He nodded back, then turned to the Governor.
"Yes. I will stay."
