Chapter 105: Soul Piece: The Future
’We five created the C+ gang, using the name of the Boss’s business empire, solely to control the thugs, criminals, and underground forces in the five countries... Boss, we know you have no idea about this gang and that it operates under your name,’ she thought, a soft smile gracing her lips. ’What will be your expression when we finally reveal it to you?’
Miguel glanced at her in the mirror again, swallowing hard. ’Why is she smiling like that?’ he wondered, then turned his attention to the petrified driver. ’It seems I’m not the only one frightened... Sitting in the same car as the renowned Red Flames, who wouldn’t be?’
___
[Back To Christopher.]
Lazarus descended gracefully in front of a dark cave entrance. Christopher, Reaper, and Lucas dismounted.
"I am back," Christopher muttered, his gaze drawn to the familiar opening. He then turned to the patch of scorched earth where the spider had destroyed his car and sighed. "Such a beautiful car."
"So, we’re here to kill this guy?" Lucas asked, striding towards the cave entrance.
"I can sense her, and I’m sure she already senses us," Lazarus said, shrinking back to his more manageable feline size.
"Good. I wasn’t planning on sneaking inside," Christopher said with a smirk, stepping into the darkness of the cave.
The three beasts exchanged knowing glances and followed their master.
___
- I never thought you would return. -
The spider’s voice echoed through the cave the moment Christopher stepped inside with his companions.
- And you brought backup. -
"Shut up," Christopher retorted, halting in his tracks and looking up at the massive arachnid. "From the very beginning, I knew something was off about you! Now... will you finally show your true face?! A mere Mystical-stage beast wouldn’t guard something as precious as the Tears."
- Hmm... -
The spider detached itself from its intricate web and landed silently on the cave floor. Its massive body shimmered for a few seconds, and a blinding light enveloped it. When the light subsided, a woman stood in its place. Her hair was long and inky black, cascading to the ground, and she wore a flowing black dress adorned with vibrant red gems.
"Who are you?!" Christopher thought, his brow furrowed in confusion.
’Wow... That was just a guess. I didn’t realize this spider was actually a human? Or perhaps a spirit?’ he mused.
"Who I am isn’t important... What is important is..." She lifted her gaze, her dark eyes locking onto his hazel ones. "Why did the Supreme Tamer reincarnate into such a weak human as you?"
"You?" Christopher stammered, stunned by her words.
"Fufufufu... Of course, I know who you are. What I don’t understand is why you were reborn. Haven’t you pondered that yourself?"
Christopher was about to respond, but he hesitated. "I have a skill that helped with that," he finally said.
"A skill? How fascinating... But have you ever wondered why, out of all the humans who might have used such a skill, only you returned?"
"Hey! I don’t know who else used it or why... I only know it works for me!" Christopher exclaimed, a hint of frustration in his voice.
’This... who exactly is this woman? Why can’t I sense her strength? Is she beyond even the Supreme level?’ he wondered, his frown deepening. "If you’re so powerful, why did you let me escape before?" he asked.
"I allowed you to leave because I knew you would return, though I didn’t anticipate it being so soon..." She turned her attention to the shimmering fountain in the center of the cave and walked towards it. "Let me ask you this: in this life, who do you consider your strongest adversary?"
She reached the fountain and placed a delicate hand on its edge, the water rippling around her smooth skin.
"Strongest adversary? My current biggest headache is the Golden Organization."
"The Golden Organization? Why do you perceive them as your strongest enemy?" she pressed, her voice calm and measured.
"Hey! If you have something to tell me, just tell me!" Christopher yelled, his patience wearing thin.
"You possess such vibrant energy," she remarked, ignoring his outburst.
She withdrew her hand from the water and snapped her fingers. Instantly, an invisible force slammed into Christopher, Reaper, Lazarus, and Lucas, forcing them all to the ground. Christopher landed heavily on his knees.
"Let me show you something," the woman said softly.
She took a single step and materialized in front of the restrained Christopher. Gently, she placed her hand on his head, a torrent of her memories flooding his mind.
___
[MEMORIES.]
"NO!!! DON’T!!"
Christopher was on his knees, his eyes wide with horror as he stared at a colossal beast, its shadow vast enough to engulf ten football stadiums. Within the creature’s gaping maw were his family, all trapped on its massive tongue.
"Kekekeke... Death will be your world!"
SNAP!
The monstrous beast’s jaws clamped shut, crushing his loved ones within. Before Christopher’s horrified eyes, the beast regurgitated their mangled bodies, spitting them out onto the ground before him.
Christopher watched their shattered forms, tears of blood streaming down his face. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
’I thought I was strong enough! I thought I had the strongest beasts! I thought I could face any enemy! I thought I could change my life! I thought I could protect my family!!!’
He looked up at the fearsome beast, its four eyes and five horns glowing menacingly under the crimson sky.
"You!! You killed my beasts, my friends, my family!!! I promise you three! I won’t back down until I kill all three of you!!!"
Four more glowing eyes belonging to two more terrifying beasts materialized in the surrounding darkness, their immense bodies cloaked in shadow.
"I will kill you!!!"
He gripped his sword, his body trembling with rage and grief, and lunged towards the first beast. Water erupted from the ground, following his desperate attack.
"DIE!!!" he screamed.
The beast’s four eyes flared with an intense light, and with a blinding flash, four brilliant beams shot forth, incinerating Christopher into dust.
