Despite knowing she wouldn’t be able to outrun the alpha’s beast, Dawn still tried to escape from him. She was even shocked that he actually managed to find her.

She didn’t want to talk to him, not yet. Dawn still needed time to gather her thoughts.

Yes, it was something that happened in their past lives and nothing like that had happened in this lifetime and Zenith had kept his promise that he was going to fix it.

Unlike Blake, he kept his word and accomplished the unthinkable. Dawn didn’t even think that turning back time was something that you could do, but Zenith did it. At what cost? Every magic has a price that you have to pay.

Dawn didn’t want to talk about it just yet.

Therefore, in her desperate attempt to get away from him, she ran, knowing she had no chance of escaping.

However, the black beast actually didn’t stop her when he caught up to her. Instead, he ran beside her, as if they were taking a leisurely walk together.

Annoyed, the brown beast stopped and barked at the other beast, Dawn even attacked Zenith in her beast form. But, anyone who saw this would just laugh at her clumsy attempts and how the alpha let his mate nip at his neck.

Dawn intended to bite his neck and cause some serious ’damage’ to him, but the black beast surrendered to her. He didn’t even try to dodge her attack and at the last second, Dawn changed her mind.

She was furious beyond words, but she didn’t have the heart to actually do any harm on him.

Dawn shifted back into her human form. She couldn’t preserve her beast form because she was too exhausted and angry. Thankfully, she didn’t need to block her thoughts from him, because she had been pulling away from Zenith for quite a few days now.

"Get away from me!"

Zenith shifted into his human form as well and stared at his mate, and upon looking at Zenith, Dawn gasped. He was haggard.

The alpha looked like he had been lost in the desert and didn’t have enough food and water for days. His eyes had sunken and he looked skinnier, not only that, even his stubble had grown.

Zenith always appeared presentable. He always took good care of himself, whether it was in their first life or this life.

No. There was a time when he looked like this in their first life, it was right before Dawn killed him. After so many years that they didn’t see each other.

"No. You can be mad at me, I will take it, but please don’t run away from me. I am worried."

Dawn gritted her teeth. He was worried about her. He was not even angry. "I don’t want to see you! Get away from me!"

"If you don’t want to see me, it’s fine. I will not appear in front of you anymore, but let’s go back. You can be angry with me in a safer place."

"I said, I don’t want to see you!" Dawn screamed. "I don’t have a home! I don’t have anyone now! Leave me alone!"

The Moonlight pack was not her home anymore and she couldn’t call the northern pack and the palace as one for obvious reasons.

"I can’t leave you alone here, especially when you intend to go to the west, where the rebellion took place." Zenith realized where Dawn was heading when he remembered their last meeting. "For now, it’s still not safe there. When you got there in our first life, you went there ten years from now."

"I don’t care!" Dawn snapped, she knew that she was being a brat, but it felt nice to lash out at someone. It felt good to vent her frustration.

"If you don’t care about yourself, at the very least, you should care about our child."

There was a pause and then the air stilled. Dawn felt the time stop for a few seconds when she heard what Zenith said.

"Pardon me?" Suddenly, she became polite. "What did you say?"

"You are pregnant, Dawn. I will be doomed if I let you walk to the west and enter their territory when you are vulnerable like this." Zenith took a step closer, he didn’t want to overwhelm her, but they really needed to leave.

"No... but, how?" Dawn was being foolish. She was so confused and this news was very sudden.

She didn’t remember getting pregnant in the early years they were together, but then Zenith reminded her.

"We did the deed, right? We mated and I marked you."

Now Dawn remembered that they were not truly together in the early years when Zenith took her to the north in their first lifetime. It was only a few years later that they mated and he marked her.

"Can we go back now? You can be angry with me as much as you like, but I need you to be safe." Zenith took another step again toward her and this time, he caressed her cheek. To his relief, Dawn didn’t avoid his touch.

Even with dust on her face, her hair all messy and her dress looking beyond dirty, she was still beautiful.

"Let’s go back, okay?" The usually cruel alpha from the north, seemingly had abundant patience when he faced his angry little mate. People wouldn’t believe it if they were to see this.

Dawn pursed her lips, she furrowed her brows. "How will I know if you aren’t lying about this pregnancy?"

"I was the one who first told you about your pregnancy, even in our first lifetime."

He was right. Dawn remembered that. "I am really pregnant, I can’t shift into my beast. It will harm the baby."

A pregnant she wolf could shift into their beast during the pregnancy, but it would harm the baby. It was fine in the early stages of the pregnancy, but the more the baby grew in their mother’s womb, the higher the risk to lose them if the mother shifted into their beast, while heavily pregnant.
