Reincarnated As The Villainess's Son
Chapter 400 - 400: [Terror of the Dead God] [8] [Peony]

Lady Seraphina slowly turned towards me with a tired look on her face.

Her lips parted as she requested, "Would you like to join me for a walk?"

After thinking for a while, I nodded and fell in step beside her as we exited the council chambers.

She took me out of the place to a different area of the palace in which the meeting was held.

Seraphina fell into an easy stride, her gown moving across the marble floor.

I kept pace, studying her profile.

Even though she seemed calm and composed, I could tell she wasn't.

...She was uncomfortable about something.

She silently led me to a room that created a disturbance in the space.

A long elongated tube-like structure was placed right in front of us.

It pulsed in bright blue light and the place created a beautiful sight.

"Come in," she said, gesturing me to walk along with her.

"What's this?" I asked, walking closer to her. "A space tube?"

"Yes," she replied, placing her hand on a security device or something. "It connects different wormholes to shorten the distance between places."

I nodded as the thing glowed and Seraphina walked further inside.

Looking around, it was the blue lightning-type things that faintly moved in the place.

...The air inside was colder, humming with gentle sounds.

Seraphina walked a few steps ahead, in silence, looking down on the tube.

"You seem... distracted," I said, my voice echoing faintly in the chamber.

She didn't answer at first.

Then, quietly she whispered, "You know what you did back there put you in real danger."

"I know," I replied. "But he needed to be humbled."

She looked over her shoulder at me. "Zekiel may be arrogant, but he's not stupid. He won't forget this."

"Neither will I," I said flatly.

We stepped into the very heart of the tube where different paths were made to different areas.

She stopped, finally facing me. "You think I brought you here to scold you?"

"I'm not sure. This place doesn't exactly scream 'lecture room.'"

Her lips twitched at that, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.

"I brought you here," she said softly, "because there are things I can't say in front of the others. Things you need to know—about the church and the Dead God."

My gaze met with hers. "What kind of things?"

She turned, walking to a certain part of the tube leading somewhere.

"Tell me," she said, voice low, "how much do you really know about Elyon's plan?"

My steps froze, but I quickly got a hold of myself.

'No way she is going to tell me that.'

Taking in a deep breath, I whispered, "Nothing."

She glanced back at me with a soft smile. "Would you believe if I say 'same for us'?"

I tilted my head there, holding back my sigh of defeat.

She is really going to tell me, huh?

"It's as you think," she replied, resuming her walk. "...Elyon and Adon haven't contacted or talked with us for years."

I rubbed the back of my neck as I looked at her back.

"So, all the shit that the church has been telling everyone in the name of their god is just bullshit?" I asked, making her halt in her place.

"....Yes," she replied, not trying to hide it. "Our gods have abandoned us."

"Or they have run into some sort of problem that keeps them busy," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.

She smiled softly. "I like how you are being optimistic about it."

I am not, woman. That's the truth.

[<..How do you know?>]

'I worked at the company that created this game. I know a few insider things.'

[<.....And what is happening with them? Elyon and Adon?>]

'Let's just say, they are losing their identities.'

[<...>]

Seraphina came to a halt at the end of a tube before glancing back at me.

"Anyway, now you know why the Michael family is going rampant," she said, walking out of the tube. "Because it's their god who is giving the orders."

"..."

Without a word, I walked out of the tube as well—

—Only to find myself on an island of some sort.

Seraphina continued to walk and I followed behind her.

"Does Elohim want to kill the Avatars?" I asked, finding cameras along the path.

"I don't know," she replied, nodding her head. "But I am not sure if it's entirely false."

I frowned. "Why do you say so?"

Her golden eyes met mine for a brief second.

"In the old books there is a saying," she said. "When all Avatar and vessels of Primordials reach their full potential, then the heavens will fall."

"..."

I rubbed my temples as I had heard of this before.

...What does fall of the heavens even mean?

'I don't want to think about it.'

"But what does that have to do with Legus and the dead god?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"Well, I wasn't supposed to tell you this but—" she turned fully to face me. "The dead god doesn't have a heart."

"..."

I patiently waited for her to continue.

"If you want to kill it then you need to find its heart," she replied, turning to continue the walk. "Only then can you kill it."

"...I see."

If things would be in my favor, then his heart would be stored somewhere highly guarded.

And if not....it will be with him.

'Fighting humans would be better than a dead god.'

I sighed, rubbing my temples as we reached a warm cozy house.

My gaze drifted towards her as she knocked on the door. "Where are we?"

"...Somewhere secret," she replied, glancing at me. "And someone who you would like to see."

She opened the door as a muffled voice echoed from the end inside.

"I'm home, Peony," Seraphina said, brightly walking inside the house.

"Welcome home, mother," a voice echoed in the place as I followed behind her.

A lady came to our view....a beautiful one with long red hair that touched her knees.

A flawless face that her long eyelashes complimented.

She curiously looked at me while she floated in the air.

She would have been pleasing to look at had it not been her one arm and leg which were...amputated.

"Peony, he is Himmel, Elijah's best friend," Seraphina introduced, standing beside her. "And Himmel, she is—"

"Elijah's mother," I completed her words, walking closer. "It's nice to meet you..."

Peony smiled gently, caressing my face softly. "I have heard a lot about you from mother."

I smiled back, nodding my head. "Glad to know that."

"Come inside," she said, floating further inside the house. "We have a lot to talk about."

A clattering of chain made me glance at her leg which was....Chained.

Anger spiked in my mind as I coldly looked at Seraphina.

"That's the price she paid," she replied, a sad smile on her face. "To keep the life of her son."

"So, you abandoned her," I barked, walking closer to her. "Chained her. Threw her on the island out in nowhere?"

"It wasn't my choice," she replied, calmly. "It was the Uriel family's choice—"

"You are the fucking Head!?" I snapped, glaring at her. "Can't you do something!?"

"Then I would have to kill Elijah," she said, rubbing her temples. "I was given a choice to either let my daughter live like this forever or remove the mistake—"

"If you call Elijah a mistake then I will rip off your tongue," I warned her. "Never do that."

She looked into my eyes before sighing.

"I chose this life, Himmel."

A voice made us look back at the woman floating towards us.

Peony smiled softly, looking at me. "You don't have to blame her."

I bit my lips as I looked down at my feet.

I can't.

I just can't do it.

Even though I was aware how things are with her...I just can't.

Peony floated closer to me, showing me the jar of cookies in her hand. "Want to eat something?"

I sighed, taking the cookies from her hand.

"I will bring back Elijah with me next time I come."

I said, smiling softly as I pushed myself back.

The wings unfolded majestically behind me as I floated into the sky.

"Himmel!"

Seraphina's voice echoed from behind me.

"You will get lost if you move here!"

"Don't worry."

I said, looking at Inna's star in the night sky.

"I can find my way."

Before she could speak anything, a layer of void energy formed around me.

The air around me that stopped me from flying at full speed—vanished.

With one swing of my wings—.

BOOM!!

I broke the sound barrier.

The world blurred past me as I began to fly away.

[<That wasn't very nice.>]

'.....'

[<You could have at least spent some time with her.>]

'...Inna.'

[<Yes?>]

'Why is it that only my mother is like that?'

[<.....>]

'What did I do wrong in my past life to not have a mother like her?'

[<Qais.....>]

I closed my eyes as I flew in the sky without any location in my mind.

If I flew in the same direction, I would reach the base of the Three God Church in the morning.

But...

As time passed, I began to regret my decision.

I should have stayed with her for a while.

"..."

I sighed, rubbing my temples in annoyance.

After a few minutes of traveling above the sea, I found something on a small island.

"Is that a light?"

I mumbled as I found something blinking on the island.

Curiosity took over me as I floated towards the edge of the island, landing on the beach.

[<...I sensed something.>]

'Me too.'

I quickly turned towards the sea as I felt someone moving towards me at a threatening speed.

Slowly, a figure moved out of the water that soon started to form into a silhouette.

A silhouette of a woman.

"Huh?"

My mind turned blank as a woman walked towards me...completely naked.

With the little light I had, I looked at her beautiful face adorned with black horns.

Long midnight blue hair stuck to her body as she stopped in front of me.

Her crimson eyes met mine.

"Nyxara—?"

"Don't you know."

A chill ran down my spine as I heard her cold voice.

"It's private property."

I blinked.

My consciousness faded in the next instant.
