Reincarnated As The Villainess's Son
Chapter 399 - 399: [Terror of the Dead God] [7] [Agreement]

"Let's talk about the reason you were summoned," Zekiel said, his voice firm.

I held back my smile as I picked up the document.

'Time to suck them dry.'

I flipped open the folder.

The first thing that caught my eye was the sketches of the man.

'...Calling it man doesn't seem right.'

It was a skeletal figure with patches of flesh here and there.

Its head was adorned with twelve eyes, ribs exposed like warped cage bars, and black roots spiraling out from its spine into the void.

"The Dead God…" I muttered, eyes scanning the text.

"Legus," Seraphina said, watching me carefully. "He was a high-ranking member of the Dark Trinity before he offered himself as a vessel for the Dead God."

I nodded quietly, flipping through the pages. "How strong is he?"

"Mid Eternal when he was last spotted," Caldus replied, leaning back on his chair. "...That was a few days ago."

I quietly looked at him as I placed the document down.

If I remember correctly, it was Attis, a god belonging to a past era, who the Dark Trinity was trying to revive.

'He was basically a test subject before they tried reviving Molech.'

And well... it seems they were able to revive him, but not completely.

'Anyway, the vessel is still the same.'

The container in which the god was revived and the one thing that is its weakness.

'As long as it's dead, the god will die as well.'

But the problem is... how to kill him?

That thing is using people as nourishment to reach his prime.

No matter how I see it, things would be hard.

"So, what do you want me to do?" I asked, looking at them.

"Find where he is..." Zekiel began, his golden eyes crucifying me. "And kill it."

I stared at him for a while without speaking.

Slowly, I moved closer, placing my hand on the table and intertwining my fingers.

"Don't take it personally, but are you retarded?" I asked and instantly felt a sudden pressure burning into my body.

"Watch your mouth, miracle child," he barked, glaring at me.

Helena was barely trying to hold back her laughter, but none seemed to mind her.

"Well, what else should I make out of it?" I asked, shrugging my shoulders. "You guys are asking me to kill a fucking god who is definitely stronger than me."

The room fell into heavy silence.

Zekiel's glare remained unwavering, but he didn't speak.

It was Seraphina who responded next, her voice soft.

"Just so you know, the Uriel and Raguel family are against it," she informed. "You can refuse the mission and we won't say a thing."

"If you are a coward, that is," Zekiel added, smirking.

"Guess I am," I replied, leaning back on my chair. "I refuse the mission."

His smirk faded. "What?"

"You heard me."

"This isn't a solo mission," he said, trying to convince me. "There will be—."

"I don't care."

Zekiel's jaw tightened. "... Listen to what—."

"I have two fiancées and a lover," I interrupted, smiling gently. "I don't want them to be widowed before even marrying."

"You think this is a joke?" Zekiel snapped.

"No," I replied, stretching my legs out under the table. "I just have my priorities straight."

[<That's gotta sting.>]

'He deserves it.'

Helena leaned slightly closer from beside me, her voice deceptively neutral.

"Himmel is speaking logically. Sending a mid Overlord rank against a pseudo-god is reckless. Borderline sabotage."

Caldus nodded once. "And unnecessary."

"Oh, and lose the church's most valuable 'miracle child'?" I added. "That would make you all look very smart in front of the public."

"But Himmel," Helena said, turning towards me. "Aren't you strong enough to beat it? Then why are you refusing?"

Nice, perfect timing.

I stopped for a while as if thinking deeply about it.

Then after a while, I looked at them.

"I don't see my profit in this," I replied, shaking my head. "All I see is the church extorting the poor me."

"Avatars are the ones who lead us," Zekiel said coldly. "You were born to serve the church."

I leaned forward, smiling at him. "Send Ethan then. Isn't he an Avatar as well?"

Zekiel suddenly stood up from his chair. "I have heard enough."

"Zekiel—."

"He refused the church," he cut in Seraphina's words. "For being a fallen and for heresy he did, the church isn't going to acknowledge him."

Seraphina's brows furrowed. "Zekiel, sit down."

But the head of the Michael family didn't move.

"He insulted the mission. He insulted the church. He insulted me." Zekiel's voice dropped into a dangerous low. "If you expect me to allow—."

"Are you throwing a tantrum?" I asked, genuinely confused.

Helena leaned back, amused as ever. "So, just to clarify... you called the miracle child, tried to use him, and now you want to exile him because he said no?"

Zekiel glared at her. "You're defending a fallen."

"He's Elyon's Avatar," she replied back as usual. "Which, unless the rules have changed overnight, means he outranks you."

He just glared at her. "The meeting ends here, and that thing will never set foot in the church again."

"Alright then," I said, folding my hands. "Let's assume the church did exile me—"

"There is nothing to assume—."

"But what if I become Avatar of Elohim?" I asked, making him silent. "What if I become Avatar of all three gods?"

The room fell so silent I could hear Elijah's breath hitch beside me.

Even Caldus and Seraphina had serious expressions.

Zekiel's face, however, twisted into a scowl. "You're bluffing."

"If that's what you're thinking, then think again," I said, staring dead into his eyes. "I am a miracle child, after all."

Zekiel's knuckles whitened against the edge of the table.

The way he looked at me was nothing but uncomfortable.

It was the look one gives to their nemesis.

"Let me be clear," I said. "I'm not saying I'll accept the mission. I'm saying if I do, it won't be out of loyalty. It'll be business."

Finally, Zekiel took his seat once again, throwing away his pride.

His jaw remained clenched as he whispered. "What do you want?"

I smiled softly.

"Well, for starters, everything that an Avatar deserves," I said, looking at him. "Land, fame and money, everything."

Zekiel's eyes twitched, but he remained quiet. "...Fine."

I leaned back, relaxed, as if I hadn't just pushed one of the most powerful men in the church into a corner.

"And I want to visit the weapon storage of the old ones, those used by the origin race," I said, tapping my fingers on the armrest.

Zekiel frowned. "It's not something that you can use—."

"That's for me to decide," I cut in his words. "Just say, would you allow it or not?"

He glared at me but didn't refuse. "You can't take more than one weapon."

"Two."

"....Fine."

Sweet.

[<Why those weapons? They are way too big for you.>]

'I just want to hold them. They look cool.'

And who doesn't want to own a giant ass sword that can cut through heavens?

[<....Such a child.>]

'Shut up.'

"What else?" he asked, rubbing his eyes in frustration.

"And finally, I want...." I let him wait for a while before saying, "Snow Dellet flower."

Zekiel's brow twitched.

"A what?"

"A Snow Dellet flower," I repeated, folding my arms. "The one that is blooming at the mountain peak."

"No!!" he barked, glaring at me. "That's for the Avatar Ethan!"

I shrugged. "Then ask him to take care of the Dead God."

"Why do you want that damn flower?" His voice cracked between disbelief and restrained rage. "Out of all things—"

"You already agreed to give me land, artifacts, gold, a trip to the vault of the ancients," I said calmly. "Are you really going to break the deal over a flower?"

"It's not just a flower!" Zekiel growled.

"It is to me," I replied. "I like beautiful things."

"It's not just a flower, Himmel," Seraphina chimed in. "They are used to refine bloodline and make them reach the same potential as their patron god."

I let my eyes widen as if I heard it for the first time.

"Wow. I didn't know about this," I replied, looking at Zekiel. "Now I definitely want it."

Zekiel opened his mouth, then shut it again.

Caldus sighed, muttering something under his breath. Seraphina gave the smallest of nods.

"...Fine," he bit out. "We'll give you the flower. If you come back alive, it's yours."

"Thank you." I grinned.

Helena clapped once, rising from her seat. "Looks like we're all in agreement then."

Zekiel looked like he wanted to kill something.

Preferably me.

Caldus stood. "I will prepare the writs. The Church will honor its word."

"And so will I," I said, getting to my feet. "Once I have what I asked, I'll do what you asked."

Zekiel stormed out of the room and Caldus followed just behind him.

I sighed as I looked at Lady Seraphina who was staring at me.

"Can you guys leave us alone for a while?" I asked, looking at Helena and Elijah who stood up. "I want to talk with her."

"...Sure," Elijah replied, nodding gently.

Helena didn't say a word as she walked out as well.

"Malenia Drakex," Seraphina said as soon as we were alone. "The youngest Archon and Nylaria's holder will be there to help you out."

I didn't reply; instead, I looked into her golden eyes.

She tilted her head in confusion. "What is it?"

"When are you going to tell Elijah the truth?" I asked, making her stiffen. "I believe he deserves to know the truth."

"....."

She let out a sigh, standing up from her seat.

Without a word, she began to walk out of the room.

"If you don't tell him, I will, and if I do, I will tell him the whole truth."

As my voice echoed in the room, she stopped once again.

"Even if it makes him despise the Uriel family."

Lady Seraphina slowly turned towards me with a tired look on her face.

Her lips parted as she requested. "Would you like to join me for a walk?"
