Chapter 68 - 68: Guild Registration

Michael and the ladies walked through the floor of the spacious lobby. The guild's so wide that they advanced from several dozen meters from the entrance to reach the counters of cautious female receptionists.

A row of ten gorgeous women standing before their assigned desk, having the job of receiving adventurers' picked quests or answering inquiries about the guild. Seems like easy but a challenge for some receptionists. Calming a mad recipient is not easy at all.

Females of different races and originality, giving them their own distinction among one another. Each has their own kind of appealing features: bewitching, pleasant, innocent, motherly, and so on.

There were too many options for the four to choose from. Since there are fewer people around, some of the desks are void of recipients. They wanted a permanent receptionist to receive their quest papers, so they don't want to be hasty.

Since Raphael has standards, they wanted to choose the one that fit one of their requirements. For them to choose properly, they used a skill that Raphael got after killing a certain misandrous, maiden-loving equid-type monster that intentionally ignored his sister but attacked him ferociously and mercilessly.

Upon the activation of the skill, a feature was added to their vision. All female individuals in their sight, including adventurers and guild staffs, glow pale lights of red and green. They are the only ones who can see the lights emitted by the females.

After passing the examination, the four approached the vacant desk. Hearing the treads made by their shoes and heels, the ears of the receptionist twitched. Not her normal human ears, but her pair of furry cat ears. The receptionist was not a member of the human race.

"Hello there, nice to meet you. My name is Nefa. Welcome to the main building of the Adventurers' Guild. How can I help you?"

The Cat Beastmen receptionist formally greeted Michael and the others, flashing a professional smile. She had cat ears and a tail, green eyes, and short amber hair. Ignoring her real age, she appeared to be in her late teens or early twenties.

"We're here to renew our guild cards."

They took out their iron-plated cards and put them on the counter.

Seeing the material of their cards, Nefa couldn't help but ask. "Wait, you're only F-ranks but breathlessly defeated a B-ranked party?"

"We didn't take Quest for a long time, so we didn't get promoted."

"Is that so?" Nefa tilted her head, then grabbed the cards. "Okay, I'm going to renew your cards now. Please wait a bit."

Nefa started the process of renewing their guild cards, but she found a problem. "When was the last time your party took a quest?"

"Hmm. About three years ago? Is that right?"

"Yeah, that's right." Lucy affirmed Michael's conjecture.

"I see." Nefa responded by nodding. "That's why your cards expired and were revoked."

The rank of an adventurer can be demoted for several reasons. One was the repeated failures in participating in missions, and another was not taking Quest for a long time. But in their case, none of the above was the reason because their cards never existed in the first place.

"So we gonna register again?" Asked Gabrielle.

"In your case, yes." Nefa frowned. "Though you're going back from the start."

"We're going to register."

"Alright then." The catwoman dove under the desk. When she stood up, she placed a printer-like device on the desk. "Can I have a strand of your hair, please?"

The four followed Nefa's instruction and plucked a piece of their hair. Michael collected the hairs of their party before handing it over to Nefa.

Nefa successively dropped their hairs onto the device.

Following the sequence, their adjusted Levels and stats seemed to appear on the tablet of the device.

"Adventurers have to fulfill the quest they are entrusted with or selected for. Succeeding on multiple missions increases your credits, allowing you to promote yourself to a higher rank. Of course, failing the mission will subtract your credibility from your rank and might demote you if you do it repeatedly. Do you follow me?"

"Yes."

"Okay. By continuously succeeding in missions, one's rank goes up. As the rank of an adventurer increases, so do the risks and rewards of the quest. Same goes for the privileges."

"The lowest rank is F, which is low risk and easy for anyone to succeed. Upon reaching Level 50 or more and having already earned the required credits, an F-ranked will be promoted to E. Level 100 is for D, Level 150 is for C, and so on. You understand?"

"We understood."

"Good. Let's tackle the monsters. Monsters are creatures that contain magic crystals within them, unlike animals, which don't. Monsters have Levels and stats like intelligent beings, which can be harvest to Level up oneself."

Monsters are like overgrown and mutated animals with a crystal inside, which includes them in the system. If animals had levels and stats, butchers and slaughters would have dominated the world.

Although they didn't have magic crystals, intelligent creatures like humans have numbers on their boards. Which means killing someone will strengthen oneself.

"Monsters have rankings based on their Levels regardless of the type of monster itself. Fifty and below are Fs; fifty or more are Es. One hundred is D-ranks. Two hundred are C-ranked monsters, three hundred for B. Level 400 are As and Level 500 monsters stepped on the S tier, the disaster class.'

"Is there a higher one than that?"

"There is. There's a huge gap between S-rank and the next. Monsters of Level 500 to 999 are S-ranks. Level 1000 monsters hold the rank of SS. A creature of that level could destroy several small countries in a single night."

"Scary. I don't want to encounter one." Uriel blurted. "By the way, what rank does an Ancient Dragon have?"

"An Ancient Dragon? Well, the guild doesn't have information about that." Nefa answered tentatively.

The guild doesn't know how to assess an Ancient Dragon since they can't get near it to appraise it. Only the Lightness Ancient Dragon is the one people can interact with, but the prideful dragon cannot let inferior creatures measure their strength.

But it's not a problem for Raphael. A Clairvoyance enveloped in the concealment of the God's Veil can casually approach the dragon without even noticing. Upon analyzing the dragon, he discovered that it was over Level 2000, which exceeded the Levels of his mothers.

After their conversation, the device spat out four iron cards, one after another. Nefa picked up and piled the cards before handing them to Michael.
