Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 251 251: Burdo Becomes A Father

"Three, your Highness," The lioness responded.

"Three?" Burdo repeated. He jumped into the water and immediately swam toward the water tunnel to see his consort.

The water lioness immediately followed after her pride leader with nervousness etched on her face.

She too was also pregnant but she wasn't due yet until the next two months. Usually, lionesses in a pride would synchronize their mating periods so that they would give birth to their cubs at the same time.

But Burdo's pride was welcoming its first cubs, this was the first time. So for now, their birthing times were a bit chaotic.

If not, not just the consort who just gave birth to her cubs, all the other water lionesses would be competing to have a daughter at the same time.

Nalii remained in her spot, her expression interchanging between a frown and gentleness.

She was here to supervise and ensure that everything went well. Lionesses were capable of giving birth to their cubs on their own, there was no need for her to be present.

Technically, those three new cubs were her grandchildren. Technically, each of them was also Kael's nephew or niece, depending on their gender.

Nalii waited and waited. The river water kept on releasing bubbles and she could feel the water churning as if a fight was going on. Her brows furrowed and her frown got deeper.

Just when she was about to swim forward to check what was going on. A deep lion roar resonated from the depths of the river, spreading ripples that momentarily stopped the river from flowing.

That was Burdo's roar, and it sounded like he was panicking.

Suddenly, water splashed everywhere as Burdo burst out of the river and onto the river bed. His long claws sank into the wet soil as he hurried to dry ground.

In his mouth was a newborn lion cub with light brown wet fur.

Seeing the newborn cub in Burdo's mouth, Nalii immediately moved. She jumped out of the river, covering a large distance and landing in front of Burdo.

"Put it down," Nalii said with a sense of urgency.

Burdo gently lowered his head and put the cub on the ground.

Nalii observed the cub carefully while also controlling vines to sprout from the ground and wrap around the body of the cub.

This was an ordinary male lion cub, it hadn't been born with his heart automatically awakened.

Burdo and his consort were both tier 2 water lions. The chances of having cubs who were already tier 2 water cubs were also high. At least, there was a seventy to eighty percent chance of the consort giving birth to cubs with already awakened hearts.

Although the possibility of them having an ordinary cub was low, it wasn't zero. Unfortunately, this was something that Burdo and his consort had failed to account for and prepare for.

Nalii stared at the cub, noticing his lack of breath and heartbeat. The fur was wet and made the little creature look pitiful and defenseless.

"It's dead," Nalii said with sympathy evident in her voice.

The club had drowned, being born in an aquatic environment had killed it before it could even get the chance to live.

Burdo sighed, he took some steps back and observed the body of the cub. His gaze grew firm and his mind calmed.

It had happened, moving on.

He turned around to walk back to the river. It had been a male cub anyway, it wasn't a female like he desired, and even if it had survived, it would have grown to bring him a lot of stress.

It was better to focus on those that were still alive, those that had been born with strength, vigor, and vitality. The strong among the weaklings.

At the river, a small head popped up from the surface of the water. It was the head of a cub, blue skin that had yet to grow out scales, a pair of stunning greenish-yellow eyes, and gills by the side of her neck.

It was a female.

The little lion cub stared at the sky for the first time in her life, her big eyes taking in the scenery with rapt attention. Not yet an hour old and she could already operate her basic senses like sight and hearing at a basic and passive level.

Suddenly, she seems to slip back into the water before struggling to swim back up again. Clearly, she was still clumsy about the art of swimming and would need further lessons apart from the instincts she was born with.

Besides the little lioness cub, another cub popped out of the water with the same features. Blues skin and big round eyes. This one was also a female.

Both of them seemed to not be aware of where they were or who they were. How could they? They had yet to know what a sky was, they didn't know what water was, they didn't know what breathing was, nor did they know what a lion was… not yet.

They weren't even self-aware of who they were. They lacked the awareness to understand that they were alive.

Shortly after the second cub popped out, five lionesses rose out of the water one after the other.

The mother of the two cubs stayed close to them, she tried to bring them down into the water to take care of them and feed them but Burdo stopped her.

"Is he here?" Burdo asked Nalii with an expectant gaze. Nalii was about to answer but someone else answered for her.

"I'm here," Kael said as he walked out of a spatial fold with a kingly aura, like a businessman who had just left a business meeting after winning a negotiation.

His aura upon appearing pressed on the minds of all those who were present.

The false pressure on Burdo's body caused him to bow subconsciously without actually wanting to. Kael wasn't even looking in his direction yet his aura was so oppressive.

The aura of a lion king, a Primordial Lion, a tier 4 lion, all in one.

Kael walked out of the spatial fold with his head raised high, his black attire only added to his regality.

Behind him, Zabita and Olivia also appeared, followed by Esta and two other snakes.

Nalii glanced at them, then at the blood on Olivia's cheeks and lips. She looked like she had been crying tears of blood, giving her an eerie and uncanny look.

Kael continued walking until he was at the river bed, his sandaled feet a few inches from getting wet with the river water.

He stared at the two cubs floating beside their mother in the midst of the five lionesses. Their mother was skillfully controlling the water, preventing them from being carried away by the river's current.

Kael's golden eyes locked on to the cub who had first popped out of the water, the oldest of the two females.

The lioness cub also locked her greenish-yellow eyes with Kael's, unaware of what she was doing.

A golden crown tattoo began to form on her forehead, stunning the surrounding lionesses.

Immediately, a Conquering Essence Pool began to form inside the body of the little water cub.

Another smaller and less impressive crown tattoo appeared on Burdo's head, signaling that the Betrothal Contract had been completed.

Kael stared at the little lioness cub, who would become his official consort once she had grown to maturity.

For now, he would just enjoy the benefits.

Kael raised his hand up to his chest level, concentrating on the new power he had gained.

Immediately, the water at the edge of the river bed began to rise in response to his actions.

The water ascended out of the river, forming a twisting and ever-shifting sphere of water.

Kael had now gained the power of a Water Lion through the contract. And as soon as that was done, the Conquering Essence had already begun to corrupt the power in order to enhance it and give it better properties.

Kael flicked his finger from left to right, watching at the sphere of water divided into different smaller parts and formed different shapes and sizes.

"Brother…Your Majesty, welcome back," Burdo said as he brought his head lower to the ground.

Kael's fingers froze in action, he lost focus and the water fell to the ground and splashed on his feet, wetting the bottom part of his trousers.

Burdo's breath got caught in his throat, he didn't dare speak anymore.

Kael didn't seem bothered about it though.

He turned to look at Burdo with a somewhat gentle yet stern gaze. Whether he was faking this expression, Burdo will never know.

"Take her, raise her up in your pride, she'll join me when the time is right," Kael said.

Burdo nodded, but he didn't move, he was waiting for something else. Everyone just stared, hoping it wouldn't escalate into something else.

When it came to Kael, no one truly knew how he would react to certain things.

But for Kael, after he had dealt with the elephants, he felt that he should stay away from the dirty work for some time and put his focus on his vision for the kingdom and the incoming threat

He gave the bowing Burdo an amusing smile before saying, "Meet Priya or N'bayé, they'll give you some resources needed to increase your strength.

Once you collect it, you and your pride are to immediately report to Paradise Beach and take over as the governing force, acting as the delegate for the lion regime. There, you will evolve and assume your duties with immediate effect.

It is there that you will raise…"

Kael paused, realizing that the newborn lioness cub did not yet have a name.
