Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 237 237: Harath And Vixy

A few hours later.

The mountain belonging to the lion royalty is one of the few mountains that can be seen for kilometers in the forest.

The creatures here were going about their day, living their lives as they were permitted to.

Ever since the successful takeover of the Paradise Beach settlement, things had gone back to a more normal routine compared to the frenzy N'bayé had put them in for two days.

Many of them could still not believe that they had done all that within two days, it sounded impossible.

Not only had N'bayé's team of magic users churned out hover platforms one after the other, but it had also helped the army cross the vast distance and arrive at the settlement within a day.

The takeover was swift, thanks to N'bayé, they had gained new resources, also thanks to N'bayé.

N'bayé had proven to be the kind of person who could achieve a lot of what she really wanted to.

This morning, the market for refined metals had been activated again and those who found glee in trade began to indulge themselves.

At the helm of these was madam Vixy who had almost cornered the market at one time with her monopolistic intentions.

With Ken assassinated, she naturally had to take over his responsibilities and control his assets since she was the leader of the Fox Merchants Caste.

Although there was no written law yet, and it was unlikely that there would be much, there were still some rules that she had to follow.

Madam Vixy had to act in a way that showed she wasn't in any way harming the caste for her own personal benefits.

Although many suspected that it was Vixy who orchestrated Ken's assassination, especially since she was so openly antagonistic to him, most didn't say or do anything about it.

Duller, the spirit wolf who had been with them from the beginning of the kingdom, someone who had once been labeled as a potential betrayer, was executed for the crimes.

The lionesses had declared that Duller was responsible for the assassination and ordered for his death. It was unusual considering that Ken was a four-tailed fox comparable to a tier 3 wolf and Duller was just a tier 2 wolf.

It would have not been easy for Duller to assassinate Ken without putting in a lot of effort and drawing attention to the actions.

But Ken had died silently and alone.

Still, their Highnesses had spoken, it was unwise to challenge them.

Some deputies and mini leaders of the different castes were working to assimilate the new recruits.

Many of the new foxes had joined not out of force but because of the metal market and other commodities the kingdom was starting to get its hands on.

Most of the wolves had been beaten into submission, their packs outnumbered and cornered with no other choice than to join the kingdom.

It was a hasty recruitment method, one that had already served its purpose, now that the campaign was over and there were no clear big plans for the meantime, the new recruits were restless.

The bears were not that much and with N'bayé backing him, Kurse was able to maintain control over them.

It was the same situation with the goats, they all followed a pseudo-herd mentality and as long as their leaders were kept in line, there was no problem.

The foxes busied themselves with other things, there was much to do that was more interesting than fighting.

The problem lay in the numerous wolves who had all originally been loyal to their packs before N'bayé's decree descended on them.

A lot of new wolves who were not interested in joining the sub-castes ended up fighting a lot. There was chaos in the region surrounding the mountain.

Something had to be done to quell the restless wolves, if not, they would fracture the wolf caste from within.

For now, N'bayé had other things to do, she could always use violence and bloodshed to make the wolves calm down. Although that would still not fix the issue, it would work for the time she needed it to work.

She had just come back from the beach a few hours ago, escorted by Condra, the new Avian Intel caste leader, and his entourage of large birds.

She levitated silently with her arms behind her back and her eyes glazed over as she engaged herself in thought

She was currently heading to the six-path clearing, thinking of a way to upgrade the place.

She had already felt that the whole six-tree clearing was becoming outdated for her. Her power was beyond it.

She was intrigued by Stella's invention of those turrets and was thinking of how she could make them for herself. For some reason, she kept on having the feeling that she was still backward in terms of her innovation and it frustrated her to no end.

She wanted to grow, she wanted to expand her knowledge, and she was addicted to the feeling of satisfying her curiosity.

At some point, she began to subconsciously look at everything in disdain, even the world, as though it was too simple for her.

She wasn't aware of the contempt that occasionally flashed in her eyes whenever she looked at some creatures doing silly things. She wasn't annoyed, just disdainful at the surprising lack of intellectual minds around her.

She wished for Kael to return, she wished dearly.

As she levitated forward over the trees quietly, she caught sight of two humanoids standing not too far away from the mountain and discussing with each other telepathically.

The first had a feminine body type, she had four large red tails behind her and there was a faint aura around her, as though she was close to evolving and gaining her fifth tail.

This was none other than Vixy, the caste leader of the Fox Merchants.

The other person was a chubby humanoid male. He had a protruding belly and a hairy chest. His arms and legs were big and full of fatty flesh. Despite him being the same height as Vixy, one might mistake him to be taller because of his stature.

His shoulders were broad and on top of those shoulders was a big head and bushy hair.

From his lower jaw, two small metal tusks protruded along his cheekline, giving him an orc-ish look.

This chubby humanoid male was Harath, one of the former leaders of the settlement.

After selling the settlement out, N'bayé had bestowed the benefits she could give, as promised.

This was to entice other future oppositions and entice them with the idea of turning to the side of the lion regime.

Harath was given the position of caste leader of the Pig Caste, a caste that had no specialization.

The pigs, which were not that much yet, were free to join any sub-caste they found appealing.

N'bayé remembered that no pigs had fought against their invasion, this was all thanks to Harath.

With that, Harath was also allowed access to the refined metal market, something that Vixy was not really happy about.

As a being comparable to a tier 4 wolf, Harath could dominate the market and Vixy would not be able to do much about it.

Harath himself was a metal user, so he had more drive than her to push for the monopoly of refined metal.

N'bayé shook her, that look of disdain appearing in her eyes again. How could Kael and the lionesses ever allow one faction to hold a monopoly over refined metal, it was impossible.

Yet, here they were, discussing how to split profits and planning meetings with the caste leader of the moles.

Politics.

Harath and Vixy noticed N'bayé passing by and quickly bowed.

Harath was especially frightened, he had seen what N'bayé did to Stella, it wasn't a fate he desired for himself.

He had even heard rumors of another lioness more terrifying than N'bayé, one that wasn't as considerate as N'bayé was.

And he was yet to see the so-called king, the true master of this place. Although he had doubts, he still had to show respect for N'bayé as she was simply exceptional and effective when it came to getting what she wanted.

Vixy merely bowed, hiding her surface thoughts at the back of her mind. She brushed her red hair to the back as she raised her torso again to see N'bayé's reaction.

What she saw didn't surprise her, N'bayé treated them like breeze, not paying them any attention or acknowledging their bows, she continued on her way.

That was just how N'bayé was, if she didn't have any need for them, they were treated as if they didn't exist.

At least, that's what it looked like.

Vixy had been studying her.

She was curious as to why none of the lionesses had approached her yet concerning Ken's death.

She was sure that someone like N'bayé or Priya would have deciphered her spirit signature from the assassination scene.

The more time passed without anyone confronting her, the more uneasy she became.

Just then, the panicked cry of a hawk resounded across the sky. At first, neither N'bayé nor Harath and Vixy paid attention to it.

Then more alarming bird cries reached their ears.

N'bayé stopped moving and looked to the sky, squinting her eyes as she saw a massive vessel quickly approaching the mountain from afar.
