Chapter 57: Chapter 55: Death Dance
"I see..." Lunara said while sitting in a chair surrounded by Orcs.
"That’s all the information we have now..." Rise said, sitting in front of her.
Lunara closed her eyes and started thinking.
(A strange creature in a human shape but with a slime body... If I put all the information together, then there is only one answer...)
Suddenly, an orc from outside screamed.
"Those creatures are back!!! They are attacking again!!!"
Everyone in the room quickly stood up in shock and looked toward the door. Lunara also stood up and said,
"I’ll take care of it."
Every orc looked at her, and in her mind, she thought,
(Master will be proud of me~)
Her body turned into a shadow, and she disappeared. The orcs were shocked but quickly rushed outside toward the wall. As they climbed up, Orcon asked,
"Where are they!?"
But as they looked ahead, they saw Lunara standing on the ground below, and in the distance, those creatures were approaching her. Lunara observed them carefully.
"They have pale skin like a dead human... but the body of a slime. Are they undead? Or slime...?"
The creatures suddenly rushed toward her with increased speed. Rise started to worry and screamed,
"Miss Lunara, that might be dangerous!!"
Lunara looked up at him, confused, as she couldn’t hear him properly. Suddenly, the creatures jumped on her from every side, surrounding and covering her with their bodies.
Rise, Orcon, and the others’ eyes widened in shock.
"Everyone, take out your weapons!!! We need to save her!!!" Orcon screamed.
"No... look..." Rise said.
Orcon was confused but looked down again. The ground below was completely dark, like a shadow.
"Wha—" he gasped in shock.
Suddenly, huge sharp teeth rose from all directions and started biting and slicing the creatures into pieces. As all the creatures were destroyed, Lunara was freed. But when the orcs looked at her, their eyes widened in shock, their mouths hung open, and sweat dripped down their faces.
"Wha—what is... that?!" Orcon gasped.
On the ground, only Lunara’s skeleton stood—her flesh was completely gone, leaving only bones. Some orcs fell back in horror.
Rise’s eyes widened as well, but then suddenly, blood started to appear around the skeleton, then muscles, then skin, then hair, then eyes, teeth, and clothes—Lunara had returned to her normal form.
The orcs were completely stunned. Rise muttered,
"If she’s with the Goddess... then she’s no ordinary person..."
Orcon looked at Rise with a shocked face.
Lunara opened her eyes and said,
"They can devour like slimes... but they were using poison to decay my body... What are these things...?"
She thought for a while, then suddenly realized something. Her eyes widened, and she smiled.
Then, suddenly, the severed parts of the creatures slowly started to move, sticking together and reforming into their human-like forms again.
The orcs’ eyes widened in horror.
"They can heal themselves like that...?" Rise said in shock.
Orcon clenched his fists, his voice filled with sorrow.
"So... our friends’ deaths were for nothing..."
Everyone realized it, and sadness filled their hearts. But Rise was thinking about something else.
(But when the Goddess killed them, they couldn’t heal... Why? There were still some parts left that could regenerate, but they didn’t...)
He looked at his comrades’ sad faces, then smiled and spoke.
"No, Commander... it wasn’t for nothing..."
They all looked at him as he continued.
"Because of them, we were able to hold these creatures back for so long... They protected this land with everything they had. And I was able to reach the Goddess... Because you all gave your all to save everyone, I gave my all too... I didn’t stop... I couldn’t stop, because my friends were fighting for everyone, so I had to keep moving forward..."
Orcon and the others listened silently. Orcon, with a smile in his mind, thought,
(It was the right decision to make him the leader...)
Down below, the creatures started rising again. Lunara realized something and said,
"I see... That’s how it is, huh."
She closed her eyes and continued speaking.
"There are fewer of them than last time... because they sacrificed some of their body parts to regenerate the ones who lost more... But what if I destroy them so completely that they can’t regenerate?"
She raised both hands in the air, her eyes still closed. The creatures started moving toward her.
Lunara took her hands to her hair, removing everything from her head—her headband, her elastics—letting her hair fall freely. Everyone looked at her in confusion.
"What is she doing...?" Rise asked.
Lunara then took off her shoes, leaving her feet bare. She raised her hand and chanted,
"Protection Shadow Barrier."
A huge, dark, transparent barrier appeared in front of the wall. All the orcs looked at it in shock. Then, Lunara slowly opened her eyes and spoke in a soft yet serious voice.
"Death Dance."
She raised one leg, then placed it down again. She opened her arms and started moving, walking here and there, spinning. Her hair flowed with her movements, her hips and legs moving in a graceful rhythm.
"Why... is she dancing?" Orcon asked in confusion.
Suddenly, dark sparks began to appear around her. Every place she stepped turned dark like a shadow, the ground cracking beneath her feet. The dark sparks increased and started rotating around her rapidly, their collisions creating a sound like music.
The creatures approached her from all sides, surrounding her, but she continued dancing. Just before they reached her, she began floating into the air.
Her eyes remained closed, her arms spread wide. The sparks swirled around her. The creatures crashed into each other as she ascended. She continued floating until she was in front of the orcs. They all stared at her in awe.
Lunara brought her hand in front of her face, gathering all the sparks into a single dark sphere. A sinister aura radiated from it, making her hair wave wildly. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at the sphere, remembering a deep male voice saying,
(If you can impress the Dark Lord with your Death Dance, then I am sure you can use the Ultimate Void Magic...)
She pointed her finger down at the creatures, holding the small sphere. In a soft, almost whisper-like voice, she said,
"Bang"
The dark sphere shot downward with extreme energy. The moment it touched the ground, it exploded, releasing an immense wave of dark energy that turned everything in its path to dust. The explosion was so massive that it reached the sky, piercing through the clouds.
All the orcs could see was darkness in front of them. Then, after a moment, the darkness slowly faded away. Lunara was still floating in the air, but below her, the ground was nothing but a massive, gaping hole—so deep and wide that its end was nowhere in sight.
The orcs, safe behind the barrier, fell back in shock. Their eyes were wide open, their mouths agape, sweat dripping from their faces.
Lunara, still serious, muttered to herself,
"I wonder... who said that to me..."
