Chapter 45: Chapter45-The Fallen Idol

In the deepest reaches of the Whitewild Expanse, Daniel arrived at a remote and mysterious Primordial Land.

Unlike the previous Primordial Lands he had visited, this one had a drastically different landscape.

It was as though he had stepped into a realm of floating islands suspended in the sky.

Boulders of all sizes hovered in midair, forming jagged layers of terrain above and below him. In the distance, massive stone isles floated silently like ancient leviathans carved from rock.

Beneath Daniel’s feet was one such colossal island, hanging in the air like the foundation of a ruined fortress.

And there, looming in front of him, stood an enormous stone statue.

Daniel narrowed his eyes, inspecting the figure.

[World Rank Boss: The Fallen Idol]

[Level: 60 (World Rank)]

[HP: 999,999,999]

[MP: 999,999,999]

[Skills: Idol Ray, Divine Chant, Grand Purification, Rage of God...]

[Traits: Hardened, Divine, Enigmatic]

[Description 1: World Rank bosses typically possess special powers and immense strength. They are meant to be challenged by groups of adventurers working together.]

[Description 2: A divine idol forged by an unknown power, modeled after an indescribable being. Even as a mere statue, it holds extraordinary power. Due to its unique composition, it possesses incredibly high elemental resistance.]

Ten billion HP.

A sixty-level World Rank boss.

Daniel couldn’t help but let out a soft exhale. Trying to one-shot this thing was a pipe dream.

Even his [Great Fireball], which dealt damage equal to 10% of a target’s current HP, was primarily fire-elemental. Despite having damage penetration and bonus effects, inflicting true damage on a boss with sky-high resistances was going to be a monumental challenge.

But even so, Daniel’s confidence didn’t waver.

He had grown stronger — much stronger.

After all his grinding and progress, his HP now exceeded 2 million.

Even a Level 60 World Rank boss couldn’t instantly kill him.

Without hesitation, Daniel activated his [Divine Step] stance, shifting into full battle mode. In an instant, he vanished from sight, replaced by a burst of silver-blue light.

Buffs rapidly stacked on his body — [Godspeed Step], [Bloodfury], and several others shimmered across his form.

Then he launched his assault.

His first strike wasn’t enough to take the boss down, obviously — but it landed true.

With the buff [Critical Surge] active, Daniel quickly switched to his Attack Stance, granting him a massive 30% boost to his damage output — and more importantly, reducing the target’s resistance to his attacks by 50%.

Against a boss like The Fallen Idol, whose resistances were off the charts, this stance was absolutely essential.

BOOM!

— 78,000,000 (Critical!)

Pierce, critical hit, damage amplification — all the buffs stacked up.

Even with The Fallen Idol’s absurd defenses, Daniel had managed to chunk 8% of its HP in a single strike.

"Tch. This thing’s tough," Daniel muttered to himself, impressed despite the effort it took.

But before he could strike again, the massive statue responded.

[Rage of God] — activated.

Its once lifeless stone eyes flared bright crimson.

The entire floating island trembled.

Daniel could feel a pulsing, rending force crawling up from the soles of his feet.

— 9,876

— 9,654

— 10,213

The numbers danced across his interface.

Roughly 10,000 damage per second, and that was area-of-effect.

This was the strength of a Level 60 World Rank boss.

The damage was no joke.

But Daniel wasn’t panicking.

He had two million HP. Even if he stood still, it would take minutes to whittle him down.

On top of that, his HP regeneration and defensive layering ensured that even the boss’s strongest AoE couldn’t overwhelm him.

And Daniel wasn’t just defending — he was fighting back.

— 122,038

— 254,077 (Critical!)

— 36,000,000 (Critical!)

He charged headfirst into the chaos, retaliating with brutal strikes.

Enraged, The Fallen Idol responded.

A narrow beam of white-hot energy burst from its glowing red eyes — a laser of divine fury.

At the same time, a guttural chant escaped its unmoving lips — ancient, sacred, incomprehensible.

Daniel instantly sensed something was wrong.

He cast [Divine Cleanse] on himself, purging any lingering debuffs or corrupting effects. The discomfort vanished in an instant.

Then, once more, he activated [Divine Step] and narrowly dodged the incoming beam.

Without missing a beat, he shifted back into Attack Stance and struck again — this time carving a massive chunk out of the boss’s health.

But just as he prepared to follow through and force the idol into a breaking point...

The stone cheeks of The Fallen Idol began to tremble.

And then, impossibly, something horrifying happened.

An eye opened on its cheek.

Then a second.

A third.

In the blink of an eye, its stone-carved face was covered in eyes — dozens, no, hundreds of them — all blinking in eerie unison.

Daniel’s heart skipped a beat.

Something was very, very wrong.

His instincts screamed at him — danger, unavoidable, imminent!

Trusting his sixth sense, Daniel immediately switched to Defense Stance.

With this stance, he’d gain 20% damage reduction, and more importantly, a shield equivalent to 10% of his max HP per second.

In just five seconds, he had layered on a 1-million-point shield.

And that wasn’t all.

He activated [Dance of Death] — a powerful defensive skill that would automatically trigger an invincibility phase if he were to take a fatal hit.

He was as ready as he could be.

And then it came.

[Idol Ray] — Activated!

A beam, thick as a river, burst forth from the idol’s collective eyes.

The sky dimmed.

The air itself warped.

A thunderous roar followed as the beam sliced through the floating island like a divine blade of judgment.

BOOM!!

Daniel felt the full force of the blast.

His shield was shredded — half of it gone in an instant.

500,000 Shield Points — gone.

But...

He held firm.

Within a second, 200,000 points had regenerated.

And unless The Fallen Idol could chain-cast that devastating attack, Daniel’s defenses would recover faster than it could break them.

You can’t even break my shield. What are you going to threaten me with?

Daniel smirked.

And then...

He stood his ground.

No more dodging.

He went head-to-head with the towering boss.

You hit me once, I’ll hit you ten times.

BOOM!!

— 38,765

— 29,531

— 74,600

The numbers flooded in.

And Daniel, drenched in buffs, fury, and sheer momentum — continued his relentless assault.

The stone god trembled.

Its thousand eyes blinked in confusion.

The Fallen Idol had been forged by ancient powers to guard sacred truths...

But it had never faced anything quite like Daniel.
