Chapter 43: Chapter43-Interested in Becoming a King?

According to historical records, this continent faces an Apocalypse every thousand years.

The details surrounding the first two Apocalypses have been lost to time. What exactly happened during those ancient calamities is now shrouded in mystery, buried beneath the ruins of forgotten civilizations.

But the third Apocalypse, the one from a thousand years ago, was different. It was well documented. The records describe it as a catastrophe brought down from the heavens — a monstrous invasion unlike anything the world had ever seen.

They came from the stars — terrible, unknowable creatures that swept across the land like a storm of annihilation. Their power was immense, their purpose unknown. These creatures were later named Stellar Monsters.

Faced with extinction, the mortal races — humans, elves, dragonkin, and beastfolk — cast aside their differences and united. For nearly ten bitter, grueling years, they fought side by side in a desperate struggle for survival.

And in the end... they prevailed.

But the cost of victory was staggering. The war left the world scarred and broken. Entire races were wiped out — some say over fifty were driven to extinction during that cataclysm.

...

Within the vast, solemn chambers of the imperial palace, the Human Emperor stood still.

His mind had drifted. He found himself thinking back to that blood-soaked night ten years ago — the night the Blood Moon descended.

In just a single evening, the mightiest of human empires, the Crossbridge Kingdom, was reduced to ash and ruin. It had once been the pride of the human race — an empire unmatched in wealth, power, and prestige. Now, it existed only in memory.

Only one survivor escaped that terrible purge.

Daniel.

And now, ten years later, that same Daniel had awakened his talent... and begun to display a strength that defied logic and reason.

Could it be? Could his powers be linked to the Blood Moon somehow?

Or perhaps... something even more ancient?

Was he a herald of calamity? Or a weapon forged by fate to oppose it?

The Human Emperor’s expression grew grave. He slowly rose from his seat and walked toward the towering floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the silver-washed night. The moonlight was pale and pure, tinged faintly red — a haunting echo of that nightmarish Blood Moon.

Stellar Monsters...

What was their true purpose? Why did they return every thousand years?

And if the fourth Apocalypse was truly approaching... was Daniel its key?

...

Far away, deep within one of the most secretive offices in the world, inside the heart of the Multiracial Commerce League, Harry, the branch manager, stood respectfully in front of a large desk.

"Head, as per your instructions, I have personally delivered the White Card to Daniel," Harry reported, his tone humble.

"Good," the head said casually, without lifting his eyes from the projection on his desk. Then, almost to himself, he murmured:

"This fourth Apocalypse... it seems more and more likely that Daniel is involved."

"Perhaps... we should increase our investment. We might need his protection one day."

Harry blinked in surprise.

He hadn’t expected that.

He knew Daniel was important — anyone who could receive a White Card from the League had to be extraordinary. But this much regard? Enough for the Head himself to suggest relying on him for protection someday? That was unprecedented.

Still, Harry knew better than to question it. He simply lowered his head and kept silent.

The Head continued, almost like he was thinking aloud:

"In business, the most profitable investment... is the one made before the subject matures."

He turned toward Harry. "Didn’t you once tell me Daniel bought a batch of materials from us?"

"Yes, Head. The total value was approximately one hundred million gold coins."

The Head nodded. "Waive it."

"...Pardon?"

"Make it free. Write it off as goodwill."

He paused, then added, "Also, grant him another one billion gold coins. Consider it a startup fund. An investment from the Multiracial Commerce League."

Harry’s mouth almost fell open.

One billion gold coins?!

But after a stunned moment, he nodded firmly. Orders were orders. And the League... well, the League could afford it.

Still, what shocked him wasn’t the amount — it was what it meant.

The Head... had placed Daniel at the top of the investment list.

Which meant that, in the eyes of the most powerful financial institution in the multiracial world, Daniel was no longer just a rising star. He was a potential demigod rank powerhouse.

No — perhaps even more.

As the two men finalized these decisions, a chime echoed from their Gnome Communicator.

[World Rank Boss: Water Elemental (Defeated)]

[Level: 40]

[Defeated By: Daniel]

[Clear Time: 00:00:29]

The notification caused both men to freeze.

The Head’s face grew serious.

"Double it. Make the investment twenty billion," he said coldly. "And keep a very close eye on him."

...

Out on the vast plains of Whitewild Expanse, Daniel sighed.

There was a tinge of disappointment in his breath.

He had just taken down a level 40 World Rank Boss — a Water Elemental — but it hadn’t gone quite as smoothly as he’d hoped.

He had made a slight misstep during the battle. A momentary lapse allowed the Water Elemental to evolve into its Tier-2 form, which wasted precious time.

In the end, the fight dragged on for a full thirty seconds.

Still, the outcome was clear — he’d won.

And now, without even pausing to rest, Daniel immediately set off again in search of the next World Rank Boss.

But just as he was flying across the sky, a new message flashed on his Gnome Communicator:

"Human Emperor George wishes to establish a communication link with you."

"Would you like to block this request?"

Daniel stopped in midair.

Huh?

With his [Mist] skill active, no one was supposed to be able to contact him. That was one of its main benefits — perfect isolation.

But it looked like the Human Emperor had some sort of superior authority.

Still... the most surprising thing was, even that authority wasn’t enough.

Apparently, [Mist], as a God Rank Skill, could override even imperial privilege.

Daniel raised an eyebrow but didn’t block the request.

It was the Human Emperor, after all.

Even if he didn’t care much for titles, he understood diplomacy.

He accepted the request.

Before he could say anything, a message appeared:

"Daniel, I know you don’t want to be disturbed right now. I apologize for the intrusion — it was rude of me."

The Human Emperor’s tone was extraordinarily polite.

But inside, he was stunned.

He hadn’t expected this.

As Emperor of Humanity, George wielded absolute authority over human communication networks. Any human — no matter who — should be reachable by him.

And yet... Daniel had the right to deny him.

What kind of freakish ability was this?!

If things continued like this... could he even call himself the Human Emperor anymore?

Still, that wasn’t the point.

Human Emperor George: "To be blunt, I reached out because I have something important to ask. I’d like you to take over leadership of the Mington Kingdom."

...

Daniel froze.

What...?

Did he just hear that correctly?

He had only awakened his innate ability today, and now they wanted him to rule an entire kingdom?!

Among human nations, the highest tier was the Empire.

Below that were the Kingdoms — still powerful, but subordinate to the Empire.

And now the Human Emperor was offering him one.

It would make him a King — in name and authority.

But... why?

Why him?

His homeland, the Crossbridge Kingdom, had been annihilated. He was a prince with no country, a wanderer without a crown.

He hadn’t accomplished anything grand yet — no legendary feats, no world-shaking victories.

He hadn’t even completed his Star Upgrade Quest yet!

How was this reasonable?!

What was the Human Emperor thinking?

And what kind of game... was about to begin?
