Chapter 96: Find The Proof

"I do not lack backbone!" he snarled and then stood up at once and left leaving Olivia dumbfounded.

"This man! He is surely suffering from menopause. Could a man have this many mood swings?" Olivia shook her head and concentrated on the snacks instead.

Agatha had brought Too sugary food to irritate Damon. A man could not have a sweet tooth. But she enjoys eating them. She picked up a muffin and placed it in her mouth. The sweet engulfed her and her lips curled into a crescent moon.

"This is heavenly!" Oliva closed her eyes and cherished the taste as she ate one more.

She did not notice that the man who had left, returned and paused on the door. His eyes looking at her face with heart creeping up on the tip of his ears.

Olivi stood up after packing the whole plate instead of eating all of them herself. She rubbed her stomach with a blessed expression. She took a long walk around the manor. Watching the birds while humming a soft tune.

She crossed many employees in the stables and garden. She even crossed the area where carriages were kept. It looked like a leisure walk, but she stopped when she saw the broken carriage.

As if she had only remembered about it now.

"Daisy! How is Lina faring? Did she get any treatment?" Olivia stopped where the maids were cleaning the carriage and replacing the blankets and pillows inside it.

Daisy sighed at one looking upset.

"No, her legs are severely injured. The physician had refused to treat her. We are only relying on some herbs. I can not believe that the carriage was in such bad condition. When we were putting gifts in it, it seemed fine. I have personally arranged baskets and told Theo to feed the horses well." Olivia patted her shoulders and sighed. She took out five silver coins from her pocket.

"Daisy! This is all I have but I hope it will help you." The girl looked touched. She hugged Olivia and shed tears. Olivia’s eyes filled with grief and guilt. They were hurt because of her. Yet she was here to get help.

"Thank you, My lady! You are very kind. We were waiting for her grace to help. But..." she wept again, looking miserable. Olivia comforted the girl with another hug. Her eyes looked misty too.

"I do not believe that it was just an accident. Someone must have wanted to hurt me and Lisa got tangled up in the mess. This is the least I could do." Daisy paused. Visibly shaken! Who would hurt Olivia but it did make sense. After all, the carriages were fine.

"But who could do this! I am sure that no one from the outside would hurt me. And in the manor. Only closed staff had access to the carriage." Olivia seemed worried. But she stared at Daisy with hope in her eyes.

"Yes, only me, Lisa and Agatha had come here. Lisa would not hurt herself and Agatha..." as if the bulb had been finally lit! Daisy’s eyes widened. "It could be Agatha, Olivia. The woman did not like you because she wanted all the trust and attention of her grace.

She was the one who refused to give us compensation too. The nerve of that woman!" Daisy gritted her teeth. Her eyes burnt with anger and rage.

Olivia felt relieved. She was worried that she had to leave more and more signals for Daisy to understand. But she still feigned ignorance. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hands looking shaken!

"Are you serious! But why would Agatha try to harm me? She is... my sister’s personal friend." Looking at her naive and worried face, Daisy felt pain in her heart.

She held Olivia’s hand and squeezed it.

"You do not know, my lady. Do you? When the duchess did not pay any attention to you, Agatha was the one to get all the benefits. But recently, her grace is only taking care of you. She even forgot to invite Agatha to parties with her. And she did not get an extra bonus or allowance. Even the dresses she rarely got had stopped.

She must be jealous and conscious. She must want to harm you to get all those favors again." the more Daisy spoke, the more she was convinced that it was Agatha.

Her face twisted in fury and rage. Olivia took pity on the woman. She did not believe that Agatha could do it. But she wanted to get rid of her if she wanted to change the future.

The woman had a bad influence on her sister.

"But... even if that is the case, how could we prove it?" Olivia bit her lips looking aggrieved. "It was better that I did not know. Now that I know it, I can not ignore it as if nothing had happened." she sniffled and whipped the rim of her eyes.

Daisy looked hurt too. Her sister had suffered a large wound. She might be disabled for her whole life. All because of Agatha’s greed! No, she would not let the woman go unharmed. She clenched her fist. She did not care even if she lost her job in the process. She would bring justice for them.

"Do not worry, my lady. I will try my best to find proof. I am sure there is something left behind." taking the reply she wanted, Olivia whispered a few more words before leaving from there.

Now that someone was looking for proofs, all she needed to do was to create some proofs and plant it. She already had the nail that attacked the carriage’s wheel.

She walked through the garden where the windows of the servant quarters open. She looked around while stopping in front of the biggest quarter of the manor.

When she saw no one, she threw the nail inside from the window and disappeared from there.

Just when her footsteps faded completely, a man wearing the dark mask jumped from the tree. He looked at the direction where Olivia had left with a dark smile.
