Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy! -
Chapter 81: Grant A Wish
Chapter 81: Grant A Wish
"In stress relief pain!" the physician had closed his eyes at some point. They have mixed two or three herbs in the incense stick before. But he never knew so many ingredients could be mixed together.
But how? They had different properties. It was like she had put a lion, a bear and rabbits in the same room and forced them to coexist. He stared at the lean young girl with complex emotions. "How did you make them?"
"....." he was not the only one. Many were staring at her as if she had grown another head suddenly. They could not believe she was so great!
"Uhmm!" William coughed. "Though I know it is your personal recipe. But if you share it with the royal physician, it could help many more people. It’s a great deed." Olivia wanted to laugh. Help a great deal of people if she shared it with a royal physician? What a joke!
Who was the royal physician? Would he ever treat anyone else except the royal family? But she still faked a flushed face.
"Ah, though it is my family recipe. If his majesty commands, I will share it of course." she smiled sweetly at William but his face changed colors.
As the girl said, it was her family secret. He could not command her to share it. It was like he asked for other’s properties and wealth just because he was their king.
"Not at all, but how about I purchase it?" he signaled the man and soon a box full of gold and gems were brought into the palace.
Olivia’s eyes gleamed with joy. This fund would be enough to buy a property. Only money could make her stronger.
"But my sister had enough wealth. If she comes to know, I will sell the family recipe." Olivia looked conflicted as if she really wanted to sell it but she did not have the power.
His majesty glared at the royal physician for being so useless. He had to fool a young girl to steal things from her.
"Then we can keep a secret from her. I am sure no one here would tell you sister about it. And the recipe would never leave the royal palace. So rest assured, no one would ever know." Olivia finally raised her head and looked grateful as if she had finally found a solution.
Her heart seemed to be at ease as she nodded it hurriedly.
"In that case.. I have used sandalwoods as base material and frankincense or myrrh and flower extracts provide fragrance and health improvement.
And Joss power to hold the mixture. The base material is mixed with water and a binding agent to form a thick, dough-like paste.
Fragrance components, like essential oils or powdered herbs, are added to the mixture. Then I hand rolled the mixture." seeing the frown on his face, she smiled. "The trick is, after letting the stick dry for half a day, I dipped it in essential oil and herbs mixture again and then dried. By adding the oils twice I can let herbs with different properties work together." so she had not mixed them. She had made two layers of it and.. The man stared at the burning sticks again with a sigh.
It was such a simple idea yet it never crossed his mind.
Many felt that it was only a hassle.
"Would it not be better if we made two different sticks then? One by each material and let them burn together." asked the apprentice following the royal physician with a frown on his face.
He could see how his master was feeling after losing a girl. He would bring that honor back for his master by proving that the girl was nothing special. He looked at Olivia challengingly.
Even Willim looked at Olivia with curiosity as the idea seemed feasible. He did not care if he had paid her more than she deserved but if she had more ideas, it could be worth it. She was still a sapling, he would take her and groom her into a lush tree.
Olivia only smiled, shaking her head. But the royal physician’s face was ashen. He turned and glared at his apprentice.
"You fool! If you know nothing then do not open your mouth. I have brought you here so that you could learn from the lady. Not to run your mouth amok." he gritted his teeth lashing at the young man.
The young man felt wronged. He didn’t understand why he was getting scolded when he was trying to help.
"The herbs left a different impact when burnt together. If they burnt separately, they would not have such a strong effect." It was Damon who spoke.
Only then WIlliam remembered his presence. He felt surprised that Damon knew more than him. But at the same time he felt embarrassed. He had called Damon to congratulate and reward him. Yet he had completely forgotten about his presence.
"That is so wonderful. Lady Witherland, if you have more ideas in the future, do come and share with us. We will provide a generous reward." a problem that could be solved with money was no problem at all.
He would wait and test Olivia a few times before roping her in.
"Your majesty, you are embarrassing me. I only wished for your good health." Olivia bowed again lightly. William laughed heartily. The girl had a good temperament.
"Alright, you can leave. Now that you know the recipe, I hope we do not need to trouble Lady Witherland in the future." the royal physician could only bow his head and leave feeling indignant.
"Lord Aykroyd, you have done a tremendous job. I could not visit your victory ball. But I am proud of you child. You are a strong man. You must have inherited the blood of your mother. If Barbarians had taken Aykroyd’s estate, they would have opened the path to enter our region. You have nipped the issue at the right time. So, I want to reward you too. I will grant you a wish! You can ask for anything."
