Chapter 71: Rebel Against You
"Wait Damon!" Olivia dismissed both of them after glaring at Olivia. Olivia ran behind Damon. The man did not pause, but he slowed his speed so that she could catch on. "I.. I apologize for last night." She held her dress and bowed her head.
His eyes flickered on her swollen cheeks.
"It is alright. If you can not handle alcohol, why drink it?" Olivia swallowed.
"That... I did not drink it. Someone mixed something in my meal." Damon blinked. An image of a girl sitting in the dark room and cursing him flashed past his eyes and a smile bloomed on his lips.
"Is that so? I will make sure to find the culprit and whip him twenty times." Olivia flinched. Just imagining the whip made her sweat.
"It is not intentional, I hope. How about we let this matter go." she smiled sweetly, "and thank you for coming for my defence. I take it that you do not hate me anymore." she fluttered her long lashes smiling at him sweetly.
Even a child could feel her dramatic actions. Did she treat him like a gullible baby?
"Hmm, how about we decide over a meal?" a meal? It was not a big deal to have a meal together since they share the house. But there will be others too.
If Oriana noticed them meeting again, she would be suspicious and then Olivia would not get the chance to complete her plans.
"I am going to the royal palace to meet his majesty. I am sure my mother would be happy if you want to meet the second prince too. Shall we go tomorrow?" Oliva frowned at her words.
"But we will not be allowed to leave in the same carriage." he chuckled at her naivety. How could a shrew girl like her could be so naive at times.
"Leave it on me, but remember you are offering the meal." looking at his curled lips, Olivia blushed and nodded.
"Then i will be leaving first." he left her standing there in confusion.
"What happened to him?" she had thought he would ignore her after learning she had not drawn those maps. That was the plan. Then she would leave a few more trails and let him find her identity.
When he would confront her, she would tell him that it was because she cared for everyone. She did not want him to misunderstand that she wanted something in return. That way, he would feel indebted and would let his guards down.
If she would admit it directly, he would be assured that she wanted something in return. After all, Damon had many walls around him and a single help would not let him trust someone.
But what was with this behavior? Why was he all friendly and kind toward her suddenly?
"Aunt!" Abi came running toward her, followed by Daisy, her nanny.
"My lady, you should not run like that. Your governess, Mrs Maybeline would be furious if you do not attend the class." Olivia pulled the young girl in her arms.
"Aunt! I heard that mother was furious and she had called you. Are you alright?" she touched Olivia’s cheeks softly with tears brimming in her eyes. "Is it because I did not behave well last night? I let you down again!" looking at her eyes brimming with tears, Olivia felt her heart melt.
She hugged the girl tightly.
"Of course not, darling. Sister is only angry because I made a mistake. She is proud of you in fact. He told me that you have handled everything well." Abi did not believe it. She looked at her perfect aunt in confusion. How could she make a mistake that brought a punishment?
"Really? But i.." Abi was not sure. Her aunt would never lie to her! Right?
"Of course, did you not see how she punished countess Moore when she insulted you. Your mother loves you too much. As long as you work hard, she will be happy. But if she comes to know that you are missing your classes..." Olivia trailed but Abi flinched at once.
"No! I will never do that. I will return to my classes at once." she wrigged in Olivia’s arms.
Olivia wanted to laugh at her antics. But she kept a serious face and let Abi go.
"You will complete your work too." Abi hesitated. She was planning to leave early but looking at the worried face of her aunt, she could only nod.
"Of course, I will even study an extra hour today." she confirmed with a solemn face. Olivia nodded back with a serious look.
"Then i will count on you. Sister will forgive me when she sees both of you working so hard." Abi nodded with a sigh and returned with Daisy.
Daisy looked at Olivia gratefully before picking up the young girl and leaving.
Olivia sighed! She had to work hard to maintain their innocence.

In the duke’s study room,
"Your grace, we have received another letter from the marquisate, they have invited the lord for a congratulatory dinner." Duke Aykroyd stared at the letter with narrowed eyes. His first wife’s family had always shown interest in Damon. But these days their persistence has only increased.
They were writing letters too often.
"Did Damon know?" the butler shook his head at once but he looked uneasy.
"Your grace, the lord is invited at the royal palace. I am sure the marquis knows about it. If you hide it further and the lord comes to know about it from the marquis. I am afraid he would doubt us further. He is not a child anymore. It is time that you give him some opportunity and power to placate him.
If not, he might rebel against you." The butler wished for his master to get the hint and work on his relationship with Damon sincerely before it was too late.
Even he as a bystander could see Damon was gaining more and more power every day from the outer world. And this victory had brought him many supporters.
