Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy! -
Chapter 60: Throw Him Out
Chapter 60: Throw Him Out
"But you have rejected me like an enemy, and now this.." Olivia glared at him, making him feel guilty. He looked at her skin turning red. His grip loosening on her. How long had it been since he had danced with a woman? Interacted with him. Damon looked away and coughed.
"I apologize, my knights are strong enough to handle this much." Olivia raised a brow, her smile cold and accusatory.
"As my lord said, they are knights." she bowed her head and only then did he realize the song had ended.
She slipped away from her. He could only stare at her with a piercing gaze. Acutely aware of the eyes of his step mother following his every action.
He was callous earlier because he wanted to create trouble for her. He knew that she would blackmail him or demand something. So he wanted to put pressure on her. But she had refused. He frowned again? Could she be speaking the truth? The maps could have brought her his favor. She had no reason to hide the fact.
But if it was not her, who could it be? A deep frown settled on his face. He had thought everything was in his control, yet everything slipped out of her hand like sand.
Olivia took a deep breath. She rubbed her skin as if she was deeply hurt but her lips curled into a smirk.
"You seem happy!" Olivia was smirking but when she raised her head, she looked aggrieved!
"I do not know what he wanted from me, sister." Oriana had watched them dancing keenly. Damon was speaking non stop. She had never seen him speaking so much.
"Olivia! Damon is losing the battle. It is only a matter of time..." she looked around. "And you are his aunt by relationship. Do not forget that." Olivia nodded readily. She had not seen Damon as a man ever.
Noticing her compliance, Oriana’s face finally softened.
"Good, now come with me." She took Olivia to meet a few guests. They were surprised since Oriana never brought Olivia as a company.
But they knew how to read the room. The girl was favored by the second prince in the last ball and tonight she was entertained by the heir of the duke family. No matter where she lands, it would be beneficial to have a friendship with her.
"Your charms are exceeding in every meeting, your grace. Your sister has gone after you too." a man smiled at Olivia tactfully as he kissed the back of her hand.
Oriana blushed and waved her hands.
"Count Moore, you are always so sweet with your words. But I have heard that your son does not follow your steps." the man paused. He looked at Oriana confusedly.
"Your son Brad wanted to remind us about our origins. I have never forgotten them in the first place or I have not been silent when I have found mistakes in my husband’s ledger. I corrected them instead. Did I not?" the man paled at once. He had warned his foolish son to not cross this woman.
Looking at her cold eyes, he knew that he was in deep waters.
"Brad! He is still a fool. I will teach him a lesson for his mistakes. You must.." Oriana raised a brow and the man paused. Her cold eyes made him flinch.
"Your son and my sister are equal, count Moore. Even my son is more mature than Brad. it is not naivety anymore but he is spoiled! Rotten to the core. If he does not apologize to me and my sister, I will not be compelled to help you in the future." she replied in a cold voice before taking a step back and leaving.
Olivia watched the stunned and pale man and then her sister leaving. She shook her head.
The guests had arrived one by one. Damon was surrounded by young girls. Now that he did not want to kill her, he looked rather handsome. As if he had noticed her gaze, Damon looked at her and their eyes met. Her face flushed instantly and she looked away coughing.
"Excuse me, my lord." for some reason she felt he knew what she was thinking. She picked up a glass of wine and went to the cold and empty balcony.
The moon was glowing brighter than any other night. Her heart finally calmed down. Damon! He could kill just by his eyes. Why did he even need a sword? Olivia leaned on the pillar and took a deep breath. when she heard footsteps behind her, she had thought Damon had come to look for her again.
"My lord, I have already told you that I do not know anything. Why must you..." she paused when golden eyes stared back at him. "Your highness."
The man took a step closer to her with a smile on his face but it did not reach his cold eyes. He stared at the dress she was wearing. She did not match his color even when he had sent the letter informing about his suit.
"After scanning the whole room, I never thought I would find you here waiting for another man. And here I thought that the lady wanted to court me." he leaned on the pillar where she was leaning before. His dark and unfathomable eyes stared hard at her as if he was waiting for something.
Olivia felt a strange uneasiness but she hid it well.
"I was not waiting for him, your highness. I was worried that he would follow me here. I was just trying to chase him with my words." she explained only for him to raise a brow.
"This party belongs to your family. Why did you need to hide from a man? If you do not like his presence, you can ask your sister to throw him out. Why did you not do it?" He tested only for her to bite her lips.
"Because, my step mother did not have power to throw me out, your highness."
