Chapter 56: Want To Live!
Chapter 56: Want To Live!
"Where is he?" looking at the relieved smile on Olivia’s face, the maid felt uneasy.
"Why? Are you going to meet him?" Olvia paused, hearing the wariness in her voice, "my lady.." the maid leaned closer, "her grace is in a bad mood and we all know why. If I had been at your place, I would have gone to her first."
Only then did Olivia return to her senses. Damon’s return shows that she had changed the past successfully. Her and kids death was dependent on many factors.
The first one was.. Damon was heavily injured and his knights had died in the battle against barbarians which dragged on for a long time.
Second, her broken marriage with the second prince.
Third death of Duke Aykyord.
And last.. Oriana was caught in the act of killing him.
Step by step, Olivia needed to change the past while making sure Leo and Abi were strong in this life.
She could not wait to see if she had changed more than the time taken by the war against barbarians!
"I understand. Do you know how many casualties we have suffered?" the maid frowned as Olivia’s excitement was barely hidden. Could there be a knight Olivia likes?! After all, the young girl had only spent time with the staff and knights.
The maid laughed and looked relieved.
"Except the trash filled by her grace, everyone is alive. A few had suffered injuries but nothing was life threatening. This time we have won the war without paying much cost." Olivia closed her eyes and took a deep breath. A rare look of relief on her face.
"My lady, do you have someone you want to meet?" the maid probed forgetting the tasks she had been assigned with. Olivia laughed softly and shook her head.
"I am only relieved that my sister would be busy again and I could slack off again." the maid blinked and then laughed, shaking her head.
"Alright! I have a lot of work to do." she left with the curtains in her hands. Olivia decided to leave Oriana alone. Her sister must be sleeping already.
She picked up some dinner from the kitchen and returned to her room. Now that she had completed the first task, she had to make sure that the second prince would not leave her barehanded.
"I have to use this chance to collect a lot of resources." Olviia laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling after finishing her dinner. Her exhausted body must have felt the warmth of the blanket. Soon her eyes felt heavier and she succumbed to sleep.
Damon was waiting for this silence. His feet were itching to go and meet her. The moment he saw her walking in the manor, holding the hands of the kids, he wanted to jump from the window and lock her way. She looked so carefree, so naive! Who could believe that she was the reason for their victory.
This girl was not simple. But he could not confront her. He could not let Oriana know. So the moment staff started to retire to their beds, Damon stood up and jumped out of the window.
After sneaking out in the middle of the night for a long time, Damon was trained to jump balconies. It took him only a few minutes to reach her balcony.
He paused as he entered her room. The young girl was sleeping soundly. The delicate little face had striking resemblance with Oriana, the woman he had hated from the depth of his soul.
But as he stared at Olivia, he could not hate her. He would be a fool to believe that she was not an enemy but he still could not fathom what she wanted.
He noticed how her body was curled and her face was covered in sweat. She was holding the sheet so tight that her knuckles had turned white. She was whispering something in her sleep.
Damon walked closely and leaned.
"Do not kill me!" The words stunned him. Though she was not treated like a princess, she had an easy life. How could she be afraid of death? But he was sure that the girl was not acting.
He was still frowning when his eyes fell on the parchment beside her. With a frown, he picked it up. His eyes widened immediately. It contained a list of four properties in total. And names of strange commodities.
He put the parchment back and disappeared into the night.

"Congratulations Duke Aykroyd, your son has achieved another success. You must be so proud." the man smirked as he congratulated Duke Aykroyd. The man did not look pleased but had a small frown on her face.
"If the lord is so good as a knight, I wonder how great he would perform when he took your position? I could not wait for the day. I heard from his majesty that he personally wanted to thank Lord Damon for stopping the barbarians. I am jealous of you now." Duke Aykyord could feel the mocking in the voice.
Everyone knew that Damon was a great knight. He had achieved great feats at a young age. But he is not fit for paperwork. With his upright personality, he could hardly handle the administration of the empire. After him, only Damon was there. Leo was still too young.
"I am proud of my son. He had chosen a path for himself and achieved great success. How many of us can feel the pride of their son? Especially you, Marquis Mooreland! I am relieved that you did not resent me because your son had failed the impetrail exam. I was worried that you would blame me for intentionally targeting him to keep my position secure." the man flinched. This was what he had claimed in front of his majesty.
But how did he know? Marquis held his expression and smiled quickly.
"How could this be! Everyone knew that the duke had favored the crown. My son still needs some experience and teachings. I hope you guide him well in the future."
