Chapter 232: No One Will Harm You

Chapter 232: No One Will Harm You

Oriana could barely breathe. Her hands twitched against the chains, the wound on her wrist still glowing faintly. The altar beneath her pulsed with an unnatural hum, the carved runes lighting up one by one.

Her breathing was rugged. It felt like another power, another soul, an energy that were sucking her to the abyss was taking birth inside her.

Just when she thought she would accept her fate, she heard the sound behind her. Olivia had Damon had reached the door. They were surrounded by the knights guarding the area.

Oriana wanted to shout but her voice did not come out. She was struggling to hold her breath. Damon started fighting with the knights.

But as he defeated one of them, two more attacked and it continued with force that he could not handle alone. He was pushed back by their force.

"Go on! I will handle this." he gritted his teeth as he pushed one more person back. Olivia ran toward Oriana but she was stopped by Elric. The man hissed at her.

"What do you think you are doing?" he spat with venom. "You have been given the chance but you refused it twice. We do not need you anymore, witch." he took out his sword ready to kill her if needed.

Olivia had never been prepared to fight. And now that they have travelled for two nights without a stop, she was exhausted. All the energy had been drained from her body. He slashed her arm easily and fought hard. Olivia was pushed back again and again.

And then she slipped from the stairs, she had just climbed. Her feet lost balance and she was about to fall.

"Since we are going to get a new bloodwitch, we do not need you anymore." Olivia started to fall and Elric raised his sword to attack her. But his sword was stopped midway

Elric’s sword came down with force. He looked at Olivia with a cruel grin twisting his face as Olivia fell backward, the edge glinting above her chest.

But it never struck. A blade met him in midair, knocking the weapon off his hands. Rhisel’s eyes blazed with fury as he shoved Elric back, "traitor! I have let your family live despite the frauds you have committed against me! And now you dare to cover the whole land!"

Elric staggered, growling as he regained his stance. "So? You and your family had always hidden the existence of witches for yourself. What do your family have that we did not? Why should you rise to power while we lick your boots! Now with the new power of witches, this land would be ours!"

Olivia lay on the stone steps, panting, blood soaking through the torn fabric of her sleeve. But she still stood up.

"Rhistel, Damon is busy with other guards. Can you stop Elric and Clondoire! I need to help Oriana." Rhistel hesitated looking at her condition but he nodded and pushed Elric away. He followed on the lower steps.

Elric glared at Olivia. But he did not have the strength to attack her again since Rhistel attacked him with full force.

Olivia inhaled a deep breath when she felt a hand on her wrist. She glared at the woman ready to kill her but she was stunned when she noticed it was the witch she had casted magic on.

"Let go!" she demanded in a cold voice.

"Stop," the witch said as she looked around with pain and hesitation in her eyes. But her grip on Olivia’s hand was firm. "You cannot interfere."

Olivia stepped forward, trembling but defiant. "Let me go! I will stop the ritual!"

"If you do that," the witch replied calmly, "the magic will collapse. The energy already awakened will not vanish. it will devour everything. You, me, them," her gaze flicked Oriana, "and even her. There will be nothing left."

"There must be another way," Olivia said, her voice cracking.

"There is not," the witch said simply. "She was marked. This is her fate. Her body will be the vessel. She would be the next blood witch."

Oriana’s head sagged against the altar. Her fingers twitched, strange lights had surrounded her and it was hard to see her now. Olivia hesitated only for a second before her face hardened again.

she looked at the witch with determination, "Then I’ll change fate."

The witch frowned. "You cannot—"

"Watch me!"

Damon saw Olivia sprinting toward the altar and tried to reach her, but Clondoire stepped into his path, sword gleaming with dark enchantments. Damon met him head-on, growling, "You’ll have to kill me first."

Olivia climbed the steps, tears streaking down her face. "I am sorry," she whispered to Oriana, reaching out with shaking hands to undo the chains. "I can’t let you go through this."

Oriana tried to shake her head. Her lips moved. No. No. But her strength was gone. And before anyone could stop her, Olivia shoved Oriana aside and stepped into her place. The blood that had surrounded oriana let her go like a leech who had found its new prey.

The runes exploded with light, reacting instantly to the blood still staining the stone. The altar groaned beneath her and soon she was surrounded by the dark red mist.

Rhistel killed Elric at once and went to stop Olivia. But the witch stopped her.

"Stop the blood from reaching her. That is our last hope." Rhistel nodded at once. Followed by the witch, he went to Evelyn who was making sure the girl bled to their death.

Rhistel pulled Evelyn and her men away while the witch trembled with fear but she held the wrist of the first girl and started healing it. One by one, she started to heal all her wounds so that she did not have blood anymore.

The girl fell on the ground, losing her consciousness at once. Her face was pale and gaunt. The witch went to the other girl. When she was stopped, Damon killed the guard and nodded at her.

"Go on! No one will harm you."
