Chapter 219: Fall In My Trap

"When you asked me if I liked reading, I never thought I would have to read a whole library!" she muttered, flipping a fragile page carefully. "It says here that during the Purge, many witches were betrayed by their own kin. Some were hidden, but others were sold to the nobles."

Olivia, seated at the table nearby, glanced up from the aged spellbook, Her fingertips glowed faintly as she practiced fire magic again but this time with caution.

"But there is still a coven out there. They have contacted me, but I am not sure if it is safe or not." Oriana paused, shocked, but at this point she did not even know how ignorant she was!

"Forget it!" she shook her head, "as long as you all are safe!"

"Am i!’ Oliva’s eyes dimmed but she did not want to scare Oriana further. She knew Oriana was struggling. And she did not want to add to it.

"Oriana, stay away from the Clondoire family for now. They are not safe and I think they wanted to harm us. They knew who we were!" Oriana paused, she held the book she was reading tightly.

Those words! She had almost believed them and harmed her own sister. Though she could not believe that she would have killed Olivia, she would have harmed her enough.

A soft knock sounded on the door before it creaked open, Rhistel stood there, watching them with a grim face.

"There’s been an incident," he said without waiting for their questions. "It said witches were involved."

Oriana stood up at her feet instantly with her eyes narrowing.

""What happened?" Olivia asked, already closing the spellbook.

"Thirteen girls disappeared from their house last night. There is no sign of break in or struggles. Last night, they were sleeping beside family members and they were gone in the morning." his tone was clipped, eyes flicking toward Olivia. "The village members suspect foul magic. I need to investigate before the nobles twist the story and start hunting."

Oriana stood abruptly, her book falling shut in her lap. "I’ll come with you."

Rhistel turned toward her in surprise. "It could be dangerous. It could either be someone targeting witches to bring Olivia out of the dark. Or it could really be the witches, Oriana. We know nothing. it might not be safe for you."

"I don’t care," she said with a shake of her head. "If those children are in danger, as their lord you must help. And as your wife, I should support them. As if someone is really targeting Olivia, it would be better that I will be there."

Olivia reached out, placing a hand on Oriana’s arm. "Be careful. If anything feels wrong, you will return and tell me instantly."

I will." Oriana gave her a small, reassuring smile. "But I can’t sit and do nothing."

Rhistel nodded slowly, his expression unreadable. "Then be ready in ten minutes. We rode at once. Olivia... stay here. I may need your help decoding what we find later."

"Of course," she said. But her heart twisted as she watched them go. Something about this felt more ominous than just a disappearance.

As the door closed behind them, Olivia turned to the spellbook once more—but her hands trembled slightly now.

For some reason, she remembered Viscount Cloindore. She stood up and watched Rishte and Oriana leaving from the window.

She had kept the book on the table securely. Yet when she turned back the book had fallen on the ground and its pages had flipped open.

, it lay open on the ground, its brittle parchment pages fluttering as though a breeze stirred within the room.

Kneeling, Olivia reached out and stilled the book with trembling fingers.

Her eyes caught the page it had landed on—no, been opened to.

The ink was crimson, aged and faded, but unmistakably written in blood. Across the center was a symbol she hadn’t seen before: a serpent coiled around a burning eye. The title above it read:

"The Rite of Crimson Rebirth – To Call Forth a Blood Witch."

Her blood turned cold.

She began to read the scrawled text beneath, lips parting silently as her eyes widened.

’The blood of thirteen innocents, gathered under the moonless night, shall awaken the dormant vessel. A heart soaked in grief, a soul broken by betrayal—the host must be ripe for corruption. Once bound, the Blood Witch shall awaken, and from her, chaos shall be reborn...’

"No..." Olivia whispered, a hand flying to her mouth. "Thirteen girls..."

She stood up abruptly, backing away from the book as if it might burn her. Her heart thundered in her chest. This wasn’t a coincidence.

Her breath caught as the symbol on the page shimmered briefly, as though responding to her presence. The faint echo of something whispered brushed past her ear.

"Olivia..."

She whipped around, but no one was there. Her skin crawled, the air thickening and it was hard to breathe.

Holding the book, She ran toward the window and looked at the sky, it had a faint layer of moon, it would disappear tomorrow.

She read the rest of the ingredients carefully and noticed it needed the blood of real blood witch to complete the procedure. Other ingredients could be found easily in the market.

They need her blood! Then they would approach her. That was her last bet. She held the dark forbidden room and reached the main hall where servants were still working like nothing was wrong.

She approached a maid. "I want a carriage ready. I want to visit the market." she explained. The maid nodded without question and left to arrange the carriage for her.

Olivia changed into a beautiful gown and clutched the money she had gotten from Edward long ago. She was going to give them an opportunity to approach her. And then she would set a trap for them. No one could ever use the witches to create chaos.

The maids watched with wary eyes as she left the manor. One of them turned and left to inform others silently.
