Chapter 159: Two Can Play The Game!

Chapter 159: Two Can Play The Game!

The shop owner’s eyes widened when Damon pointed at a dozen pieces of jewelry.

"Do you have that much money?" the owner would have believed if the lady in red gown had promised. She looked wealthy just by one glance even though she was wearing a cloak. But this man.. He was wearing an old faded handdowned uniform.

Damon took out six gold coins from the pocket and placed it on the counter. "Would this be enough?"

The man was stunned. He hastily took the gold coin and bit it hard then he rubbed it on the iron with his eyes gleaming with joy.

"Yes, it is more than the cost of those pieces. You can look around and buy more." he bent down and took out the best pieces of his shop.

"Why did you do that?" Olivia whispered, looking displeased!

Damon raised a brow. He had watched her trying those pieces. Her eyes were gleaming with joy as she held them. She wanted them.

"Should I have watched him insult me??" he asked back with an annoyed voice. Olivia bit her lips and shook her head. Perhaps she was thinking too much again.

How he wanted to tell her, she had thought right. He could have bought anything but he intentionally brought things she liked. But now was not the time yet.

Last time, he tried to confess she locked herself in the room. He could not take the risk.

"These are the best designs. They all are real pearls embellished in the best silk thread and silver wire. This tiara would make you look like a princess. my son had brought these pearls from the sea personally."

He picked up the tiara and passed it to Diana but the woman did not take it. He looked uneasy and started praising the jewels again.

"Damon, when are we leaving?" Diana stomped her feet looking nauseated. She waved her hands in front of her, making the man feel embarrassed.

Olivia sighed, she took the tiara and placed it on her head. Damon’s eyes narrowed.

"We will take it too." the worried man smiled again, relieved. He realized who he needed to win. He took out many more sets and showed them to Olivia this time.

Diana frowned, glaring at Damon. "Damon!" the voice held a warning.

"Yes, we are leaving." Then he looked at the owner. "Give everything this lady desires, and tell me if I need to pay more." Shaya raised a brow. So the man still remembered her.

She did not stand on the courtesy and picked up a few things she liked. The owner added them too yet the gold’s value was much more. He did not dare to ask for more.

"You can still buy a few things," he replied honestly. "Or I can return the left in silver coins."

"That will not be needed, thank you." Damon replied in a cold voice and walked out with Diana. Shaya and Olivia picked their chosen jewels packed in a cloth.

"The princess had a bad personality. But she is very possessive." Shaya sighed. "She must be in love with the lord." Olivia watched Damon following Diana with quick steps. Something under her skin burnt and she looked away hastily. "They would live a happy life together."

"Damon should find a simple girl. Getting involved with the royal family would bring trouble for him." Shaya smiled looking amused. But Olivia shook her head.

"Did you like the jewels?" She took out the tiara. "It is not made of gold or expensive rubies and diamonds but it is beautiful. And these pearls never lose their shine too.

Shaya rubbed the tiara with dim eyes.

"It did not matter, Olivia. Your country must have a few better and a few worse goods. Our deal did not depend on it. It depends on the trust we build on each other." Olivia frowned. The deal failed in the past because the territorial war went on for a long time.

"Your land lacks medicine. I heard a plague is haunting you these days." Olivia paused and Shaya stared at her intently. "I can stop it. We can provide medicines that can stop the plague."

"You have never seen the plague or know about it." Shays hissed with a dark gaze. From the time they met, Shaya only had a playful smile and lazy behavior as if she was playing with kids despite being old. Olivia liked this look much better.

"You can try me." she challenged only for Shaya’s eyes to narrow at her.

"I do not play with my life." Her voice was full of unspoken warnings but Oliva only smiled with confidence.

"Me neither." She took a step closer. "The plague is starting with fever and slowly burning the heart. The infected could not stop the heat rising and it is spreading. Isolating them would not help." Shaya’s face was so cold and her eyes were so dark. Her allies noticed the change and came running to her.

They stood beside her and stared at Olivia with wry eyes. Their hands reaching for the hilt of their swords.

"Madam!"

"You can call her princess. I will tell no one." Olivia whispers in a thick accent of eastern lands. Shaya’s head snapped to Kori, the general of the team. He looked embarrassed and lowered his head instantly.

"He meant no harm. So do i." Olivia smiled now, just the way She was smiling earlier. "You have not visited the clothes store. Have you? You should try our style sometimes." She curled her arms around Shaya’s hands and dragged the girl into the next store.

She walked past Damon and Diana who were staring at her with worry.

"I have told you, she is just a foolish girl. She would not be able to pretend for a long time. Now what? Have they already fought? What if the envoys return and complain against us? If the deal fails.." Damon glared at Diana with such cold eyes that the next words died in her mouth...

"Damon..." she inhaled a breath. "What is Diana to you?"
