Chapter 157: Crowd In The Carriage!
Chapter 157: Crowd In The Carriage!
Damon had a smile on his face when he left the carriage but his face went cold as he reached the entrance. The knights looked at him stunned.
There was no way they did not recognize the cruel warrior. Yet they could not fathom wearing these humble clothes.
Damon looked at them dominatingly and they bowed their heads hurriedly. His steps were dignified and his every action held power. He did not demand obedience or respect, others owe it to him.
"My... lord!" the man shut his mouth before Damon could notice his shocked gaze, "his majesty is busy with a meeting. He had left a message that you could leave first, he would wait for the good news." Why was Damon not surprised with the order?
He slightly nodded as the servant guided him to the waiting area.
But it was not only the eastern envoys that came, Diana had followed closely. She was stunned to see Damon.
"What are you wearing?" the words sound oddly familiar. The envoys paused and stared at Damon curiously too.
Damon turned to look at the princess. He took the initiative to hold her hand and kiss it but the woman still looked displeased.
"I thought a disguise would be needed if we were going out in public. Why? Do you not like the clothing?" The woman did not hide her disgust for his clothes.
"Damon, even if you want to disguise yourself, you could have worn better clothes and chose to be a rich merchant. You would embarrass me in front of others. Do you have any idea how many nobles are here in the palace?" she gritted her teeth, "what if they saw you? They would think I have chosen a beggar or a fool."
"...." looking at her distressed face and furious look, Damon felt a strange relief in his heart. He hid the smile that threatened to creep on his face.
"You did not care about my image but your position, princess." he smiled sweetly but Diana did not find anything odd with his tone.
Her brows furrowed.
"I am a princess, Damon. You are just a noble with no position yet." they whispered those words as a matter of fact. She felt more embarrassed when she noticed those envoys looking at her.
She did not understand why her flourished country needed the help of these barbarians. Look at their clothes, their style! Everything was so barbaric!
"Now go and change! I am sure they did not mind waiting." the envoys’ faces changed, the man was about to come forward with a furious look in his eyes. But Shaya stopped him by blocking him with her hand.
The man, Keiro, could not understand her intentions. But with the mischievous look on her face, he knew she was upto no good. They would not have insulted her if she had shared her real identity in the first place!!
"You are insulting them and me, your highness." Damon’s lips curled but that expression could never be identified as a smile, "it is getting late, we should leave." Diana watched him with narrowed eyes.
She had never been refused ever! He was much milder yesterday. But now, she could see the small fangs hidden underneath his smiling face.
"And if you are not comfortable, you can choose to stay here." he added when she kept glaring at him but said nothing.
Then he turned and bowed toward the envoys. Something he did not do for her. Her hands clenched into a fist. She would never go after bearing such an insult. He would regret it.
"I apologize for the scene you had to witness. Shall we leave? Lady Olivia is waiting in the carriage." Shaya nodded at him and at her team.
Diana’s eyes flickered at once and she looked back at him.
"I am coming!" she announced with a scowl as if they all forced her to.
Damon paused in his steps, but then extended his hand to escort her. Finally, her expressions relaxed.
There were two carriages waiting for them. One for the princess and other for the envoys. Olivia was standing in front of her carriage and talking with a knight. She had a sweet smile on her face. She laughed over something he said. Damon’s step halted when he watched her. And instinctively held Daiana’s hands closer. They looked too intimate as they walked. Diana blushed. Perhaps, she was thinking too much. The disguise must be needed.
She looked at her clothes with hesitation.
"Damon.." the voice was feminine, seductive, temping, "would i be trouble. My dress is too eye-catching. Though I do not want to wear the rags you are wearing." she looked at his clothes with disgust again.
"Not at all, you look perfect." Diana smiled. Perhaps, she was cold and Damon did not have the habit of hearing commands. And she was going to be his wife. She can at least ignore giving commands.
With that thought, she smiled widely. She would show him her charms tonight. But as they reached his carriage and she noticed Olivia’s clothes, her face changed again.
Even a blind could see they had matched their clothes. The color and design was faded and tattered yet it matched and they look like a couple.
Her eyes narrowed instantly and filled with hatred for Olivia.
"Damon... I want to sit in your carriage." she leaned on his shoulders rubbing her breasts on his arms. "I can give her my carriage." The envoys stood behind them and exchanged pleasantries with Olivia.
"Of course, your highness. You can take our carriage. But how could a fallen noble use the princess carriage. My carriage is wide enough for all of us." Damon accepted with a firm nod.
Diana frowned. She wanted privacy.
"Then how about you..."
"How wide is it?" Shaya cut Diana. "I want to sit in the same carriage too."
Were they having a feast in the carriage? Did they not understand privacy? She looked at Damon hoping he would be wiser but..
"Of course, you can join, madam. Shall we!"
