Chapter 131: Learn From Me
Chapter 131: Learn From Me
"It is because we are too sad these days. She cooks our favorite food so that we can eat a little. See! We have not eaten much of it." Leo stood up and went to the table to explain well. They have only eaten a bit because they were not hungry yet. But Damon need not know that.
The man stood up with his tall frame and hovered over Leo. Leo closed his eyes instinctively when Damon raised his hand but to his surprise, Damon did not touch him. He picked up the carrot stick instead and dipped it in the hummus.
"Did your aunt make this too?" he pointed at the bread. Leo bit his lips but nodded. Even if he lies, Damon would confirm it from the kitchen anyway.
He did not want the kitchen staff to suffer too. But there was something strange about it. The way Damon ate it with his eyes closed as if he was gaining strange pleasure from the food made Leo’s skin crawl.
Then the man sat on the small table meant for kids. He looked funny sitting there. Abi covered her mouth when a chuckle escaped her lips.
"I.." she was nervous suddenly when Leo shot him a glare. But Damon did not notice it. Or he did not care!
He picked up the mashed potatoes, meat and cheese cubes and then took the bread. Leo was confused first. He had thought Damon wanted to make fun of it. But he was sitting there and eating seriously as if he was starving for days.
"Why are you eating this?" Leo could not help but frown at the way Damon was gobbling everything up. What would they eat later?!
Damon paused and raised a brow. He licked his lips slowly, leaving Leo frowning.
"Why? Did you not say that you are hardly hungry and did not want to eat anything from here? It would be a pity if the food is wasted!"
"....." Leo’s eyes twitched as Damon spoke in such a righteous face. Abi stood up and walked toward her brother while keeping her eyes fixed on Damon.
"Brother.." she pulled Leo’s sleeve, "he is eating all of it. I am still hungry!" she whispered softly as she looked at the plates going empty one by one.
There was so much food that it would last for days. But now all is gone?! Where was the food even going?
She wanted to cry for not eating early. Damon looked at the pair of kids but did not react as he picked up the melted chocolate. It had turned to gooey state yet he dipped one finger and started licking the liquid.
Leo’s face was red with anger. But he did not dare to speak. He was warned so many times to not anger Damon. But that Demon was eating their food.
Damon licked his fingers and wiped his face with the napkin. Only then did he look at their boiling faces.
"Ah! It was a delicious meal." looking at the satisfaction on his face, Leo wanted to scream loudly. But Abi held his hand and he had to stay sane. He could not bring trouble when they were alone in the room.
Yes! He was finally enlightened. Damon ate all the food to anger him. Damon must have wanted them to provoke him so that he could justify their punishment. It was a trap. He could not fall in it.
"You are thinking too much!" as if his mind was read, Damon snickered looking at his red face.
"I was in a bad mood but now I am feeling much better. Ha! The food was indeed delicious." he repeated with a contented sigh and leaned on his chair.
Then he watched the kids. They were holding each other for support. How their faces matched his when his mother had died and he had seen Oriana as the duchess for the first time.
"Your mother still did not return?" he tilted his head and leaned on the chair. His legs were resting on the table now, one over the other." Leo bit his lips and Abi lowered her head.
"She must be mourning my lord. It had only been a few days." Leo explained only to earn another snicker.
"Do not waste your time explaining to me, I do not care where she is. Since I know she will not succeed." his voice went cold instantly and Leo tensed.
If Damon attacked now, would he be able to protect Abi? Would Olivia blame him if he could not help Abi? The child felt torn.
"Leo! I heard that you are learning swordsmanship?" Leo paused, but nodded when he saw Damon looking at him intently. Perhaps, he could still save Abi.
"Hmm, let’s have a match. I want to see your skills." Damon jumped on his feet at once scaring Abi to her core. The girl held Leo’s hand tightly and shook her head.
"Brother Damon, Leo is too young. You are an adult. How could you fight with him? Do you not find it wrong?" Leo’s eyes widened. He stared at his sister with mouth agape.
"Abi!" but Abi did not look back at leo. She kept staring at Damon with a smile on his face.
"People would think you are bullying brother Leo if they found out about it. There are still many guests coming and leaving the manor. You do not want to leave a bad impression do you." The smile on her face did not vanish, as she spoke in a sweet and intimate voice as if they were close.
Leo’s jaw hit the ground. He did not know his sister was so brave. But at the same time he was worried about her. What if Damon decided to take revenge.
"Ha! I am not sparring with him. I am teaching his sister Abi. it is better to learn from a war hero than a simple knight. Is it not, Leo?"
