Chapter 119: A Slut With A Whore!
The room was filled with men. When Olivia reached the second floor, she could hear their muffled voices. For some reason, her feet felt heavy. It was taking all her strength to keep walking though she had imagined this day so many times in her mind.
As she stooped in front of the closed door, she inhaled another deep breath.
"Remember to stay calm." she whispered softly as she held their hand tighter and entered the room. The room felt silent suddenly.
The muffled voices were gone and what remained were many pairs of eyes staring at them like a hawk.
There were six men standing with a cold look on their face as if they wanted to tear Olivia apart for entering the room. Their eyes only went colder and harsher when they turned to look at Leo and Abi.
As if the kids were nothing but a burden for the family.
"I heard that the woman is still unconscious, could it be that she was given the same poison and had already died?" a voice full of scorn filled the room.
Abi flinched at the mention of her mother. Were they cursing her to die too?
"Haha! Oh Bearnard, you could be quite blunt sometimes. You should be kind and apologize to them." Though the man said so, his tone was not at all apologetic. If any, he was gloating at their misery.
At that moment Olivia realized Damon had already convinced the vassal families to support him. They did not go to his room directly to confront him. But to congratulate him on his success.
How? When did he increase his support under the nose of the duke? These very men had called him a tyrant and opposed him in her past life. They all had supported Oriana.
She felt like the past had completely changed and now, she did not have the power of knowledge to win hearts. Her face paled and she hid the kids behind her instinctively.
The action did not go unnoticed in the room full of enemies. The man named Bernard scorned her actions while the other man mocked her with a smile.
"Lady Olivia is it?" another man looked at her. Oliva nodded as she stared at the intruder.
"You are not blood related to the family. And this is a private meeting. Only family members are allowed here. So if you please.." he then looked at the kids hiding behind her. "Of course the kids could stay if they wanted to. But if I had been at your place, I would have dragged them out." though he was the most polite so far. His voice was full of unhidden warning.
If she dared to stay, they would tear her apart by their words and then she would have nowhere to go.
Oliva gulped her fears. Her feet wanted to leave this room this instant. But she could not leave without knowing their intentions.
"Let her stay!" the last man spoke from the other corner. "She looked like a wolf safeguarding her pups. I would not be surprised if she attacked one of us if needed!" The man grinned looking at her but his eyes were narrowed with a hidden meaning.
Olivia could not even read his expression. He felt the most dangerous in the room except.. Damon. The man was wearing all black like the kids. But the glass of wine in his hand spoke a different volume.
She watched him with narrowed eyes too as if challenging him. Damon did not notice the warning in her gaze but the other men did. Their faces scowled immediately and their hidden hostility was more visible.
"Young lady, do you even know your situation?" she had not said a single word yet the challenged her. If she was planning the rebel, they wanted to get rid of it before it even started.
"Leonard Aykroyd, the jewel son of the duchess and your sister is too young to compete. I would not be surprised if he died by falling from his horse or got lost while taking a stroll in the garden. Are you sure you want to take the risk?" Finally, the most silent men in the room spoke and smiled at Olivia.
Olivia took a deep breath.
"I never said I am here to challenge anyone. I am here to only make sure that my nephew and niece did not suffer any injustice." Though her voice was not loud and mocking like them, it was clear and confident as if they had not threatened or mocked her.
They just held a discussion.
"Injustice!" Bernard laughed like he had heard a joke. But his eyes were completely cold.
"Your sister had taken the place of the previous duchess before her burial rites were completed. The duke was supposed to be mourning for two years. Did you not feel injustice then?" the man had walked closer. Too closer for her comfort.
If he raised his hand, he could strangle her in one passing second. Olivia felt her limbs going numb and cold. A strange cold shiver was coling around her like a reptile had trapped her and now hissing at her neck.
"You were there too. Working with your sister? Were you trying to seduce the lord then if i do not remember wrong? Did you both plan in advance? If one would succeed the other would retreat!? Strangely I never saw my lord again. As if his whole presence had been forgotten by you after you became the sister of their esteemed duchess." Olivia blinked when the man snarled. He watched her with hatred and desire to kill.
But Olivia did not feel the pressure for a second. She tilted her gaze to the man sitting silent at this time. His hands slowly tightened around the glass of wine or was it her illusion?
Had they ever been close enough to be called lovers? Why did she not remember it when she was older to him? They had met before but she had never...
