Chapter 114: Expect Me To Cry!

"Aunt, Now we only have you." Damon leaned on her shoulders when she walked closer. Olivia stood there stunned. Her whole body was electrified and it froze her.

She took a step back instinctively. Damon watched her with a wry smile but did not say a word. He passed Oriana to her. Olivia staggered but then wrapped Oriana’s arm around her shoulder and held her tightly.

As if Damon had finally realized her struggles. He walked closer and wrapped Oriana’s other hand around his shoulders and helped Olivia. Olivia could not understand. If he wanted to help Oriana in the end, why did he not hold her in his arms like before?

But she could only take a step at a time. Her mind was still swirling with the events. She was worried how Abi and Leo would react?

Everyone stared at Damon with a stunned face. A strong man like Damon who had faced war all his life and seen people dying and leaving this world all the time. Could such a man feel weak enough to depend on a woman’s shoulder?

Not to forget that he did not have a good relationship with his father! Or it might be their illusion? Edward’s eyes darkened as he saw Olivia forcing a smile on her face and nodding.

As a man, how could he not understand Damon’s intentions? Though he did not love Olivia, he had marked her as his! He could not let Damon snatch what belonged to him.

"Mother, should I go too?" Edward asked with a worried face.

Damon paused in his steps forcing Olivia to stop too. She looked at him in confusion only to see he was not even looking at her but the second prince. Olivia frowned in confusion.

"Damon.." she called him only for him to shake his head.

Gabriella stiffened with the question. She had found Damon’s behavior strange too. But they still could not meddle in their affairs until Olivia asked for it.

And the confused girl did not seem to mind it. Her eyes hardened.

"That would be inappropriate, we could not reach for them without invitation." She spoke the last word aloud to make sure Damon heard them.

Any person would feel embarrassed if the royal family asked for it and extended the invitation easily.

But when did Damon become a normal person? He nodded, showing his relief, making Gabriella embarrassed instead. Her face looked darker than the bottom of the pot.

"Oh, do not misunderstand me, your majesty. But I am not in a condition to invite the royal family. I am afraid I will make a mistake and have to regret it later. I have to return and prepare for the burial rituals. And then mourning. I.. I am still in shock from the sudden death. I could not help but rely on you to investigate the matter and find the culprit!" His voice was so painful that one would feel pity on him.

William’s face changed. He had a good impression of Damon who refused the reward and asked for help in the future if his family faces any trouble. Despite being ill treated, he cared so much about his family and this aunt.

"That is enough. He is not snatching your fiance. Must you behave to protect yourself?" he scolded Edward with a dark face. Then he turned to look at Damon.

"Do not worry child, the royal family is standing in your support, if you need any kind of help, ust send a word." Damon bowed a bit but when Oriana started to slip away, he stood up straight and held his mother.

His fingers brushed Olivia’s back in the process. But it was just a mistake and his face reddened instantly, so Olivia did not point it out. She behaved as if nothing happened.

Damon turned and started walking again. A sly smile danced on his face as soon as spectators were left behind.

He opened Oriana’s carriage first which was taken by both sisters.

He laid her on the seat and asked the two maids to sit on the other side. Olivia looked at him in confusion.

"They would take good care of their mother. And I need you to plan for mourning." Olivia stilled. He wanted her help?

She watched as another carriage joined their journey. The large insignia on the carriage showed it was the personal carriage of the duke.

"Did he.." her voice faltered and she gulped.

"Yes, you can not expect to perform burial rites without a body. Can you?" he looked at her bemused and she wondered where did the crying man go?

She frowned as she was being teased and started walking toward the last carriage already.

"You are so good at acting! Even I was fooled and hoped..." she shook her head. "Why did you create such a drama then? And why did you even need me?" She opened the door, mumbling a curse in her heart.

Damon extended his hands for help but she entered the carriage without his help. He stared at his empty hand and then smiled. He followed her inside the carriage and closed the door.

"I am his only son! They expect me to cry on his death." he murmured as soon as he sat down. "And I need you to handle my sweet innocent mother. The first thing she would do after waking up is to accuse me of her husband’s death.

If needed, I will prove that she had lost her reasoning after my father’s death. I need someone to confirm it." Olivia’s eyes widened and her face turned dark.

"What made you think that I will help you in proving my sister crazy?" the nerve of him! Damon did not mind her glaring at him. For some reason, his mood improved when she narrowed her eyes on him.

"Or... I can just kill her too and get rid of the trouble all at once, my sweet aunt. I will leave the decision to you!"
