"I am happy as your partner, and that reminds me of our first deal!" she paused to face him. "I have completed my side of the deal , your highness. What about you?" Edward looked at the smiling woman.

She had acted so well. But she did not love him. And he did not love her either. They were only friends and this arrangement was perfect. It would be a waste to mix emotions in their contract.

He shook his head and asked a knight to retrieve a file from his office.

"You do not need to worry, Olivia. I have never broken my promise. Now tell me what would be our next step?" Olivia relaxed as she heard his calm voice.

For a second, she felt something in him had changed. She must be too sensitive!

"It is simple! I have to prove that I am better than Amber and you have to prove that you are better than Elios." Edward sneered at those words.

"I have always been better than him. I never needed support from a woman to prove my worth. But my father is too blind to see it." hearing the resentment in his voice, Olivia sighed.

"No, your highness. You take it wrong. I do not want you to prove yourself to your majesty. But you have to prove it to nobles. Do you know why Damon is called in the palace today?" Edward frowned as he looked at Olivia.

"My father is planning to increase his trade and need another war to clear the routes for eastern countries?" his frown grew deeper. "I am ot fit for war as a knight or a strategist. My strong point is finance! But father has duke Aykroyd for it."

"Hmm, but what if he needed someone to handle all this trade too and Duke Aykroyd could not do it?" he frowned further but Olivia leaned and whispered something in his ears.

Edward paused. He had smelt hundreds of perfumes and fragrances but Olivia’s fragrance was different. He could not feel that strong odor or repulsive smell. Her touch was soft to his shoulders and for a second he froze. Until the words slowly started to register in his mind that he came out of his stupor.

His eyes widened again but this time for a completely different reason.

He stared at Olivia with shock but the woman was only grinning as if it was not a big deal.

"Are you sure about this?" The look of disbelief in his eyes made Olivia laugh but she nodded readily.

"Then I will wait for the good news."

Damon watched with a dark face. He knew Olivia was only informing the prince about her plan. She had already told him in advance and the prince was only second to know about it. Yet he could not take his eyes away from her hands resting on his shoulders.

Her lips that almost seem to be touching his ears and the way Edward’s body reacts to her touch. As a man, he knew those expressions well.

The pervert had thens of women around him yet he had a desire for Olivia! How disgraceful. But why did he care?

Why did he care if he liked Olivia or not? It had nothing to do with her as long as her plan was fulfilled and he could take the final step.

His main goal was to get his father’s position. And getting rid of his step mother and Olivia was sister of his step mother, his step aunt. He could not care about her. Yet his eyes seem to be following her all the time. And it irked him.

He was not a fool to not understand his desire for Olivia. But he could not accept it. Olivia was an enemy or a pawn. Nothing more!

Yet he wanted to run and push Edward away. He had already moved toward them. Closer enough that Edward paused and turned to look at Damon.

Edward raised a brow, "my father is looking for you. Where have you been?"

"I went to visit my father, your highness." Damon replied in a low voice. "And my uncle. He works for the royal palace too." who didn’t know about it.

Edward looked at Olivia again wondering how the woman had guessed it as he nodded. His impression of Olivia improved once again. This woman was going to be his wife. He frowned when he found Damon still watching her with narrowed eyes.

"Alright, you must hurry then. My father is not a man of patience." he warned only then did Damon looked away.,

"If you can excuse my aunt once, I need to discuss something important with her." Olivia furrowed her brows as she looked at Damon in confusion.

"What is it?" she asked with a curious gaze. She raised her head and Damon lowered his head at the same time. Their faces were too close to each other. Edward frowned but Damon only lent further and whispered.

"I can not speak in private?"

"It is alright." Before he could scold Damon for his rudeness, Olivia held his hand and affirmed. He watched with narrowed eyes the way Damon smirked and escorted Olivia away.

"Did you tell his highness that I am planning to kill my father?" Damon only stopped when they had crossed the corridor and Edward could not see them anymore.

He pushed Olivia toward the wall and entrapped her body between the wall and him. His dark eyes looked at her intently.

The touch was rough yet Olibia did not feel any pain as if he had ensured that she did not get hurt.

"I would never do that. Though I knew it would happen in two days." Olivia whispered so that only he could hear her. Her soft whisper was nothing more than a confession of love in the eyes of spectators.

"Then what did you tell him? Why must you tell him? Why are you offering him help Olivia when you need nothing from him?"
