She brought a pack of cigarettes for each Ye Fu and Gu’s father, and bought a pair of leather shoes for Ye’s mother and Gu’s mother.

Each of her two brothers received a shirt, while the two sisters-in-law got silk scarves.

After sorting everything out, she put the gifts for her own family into a bag.

"Why did you get me a pair of leather shoes? They’re expensive, right? You’ve just rented a shop and spent a lot. We can’t help much, so why buy these for us?"

Ye’s mother, having spent her whole life caring for her husband and children, didn’t mind spending on them but was reluctant to spend on herself.

"Mom, this money is what Qianqian and I earned together in B City. These gifts include her thoughts too. Besides, if I don’t buy you something, how can I feel comfortable buying something for my parents?"

Gu Yi teased Ye’s mother, not wanting to hide buying gifts for her own family.

"You’re underestimating your mother-in-law. Of course, as a daughter, it’s fine for you to buy something for your own family. How could I mind? Besides, your parents raised you to be so capable and sweet. I can’t thank them enough."

Ye’s mother understood Gu Yi was worried she might have opinions, but what she said was genuinely her heartfelt thought.

The two sisters-in-law of Gu family came to know Gu Yi’s genuine affection for the children through her actions over the months and wanted to get along well with her.
