Chapter 87 It Is Doomed
Chapter 87: Chapter 87 It Is Doomed
Jasmine was already outside. Luggage by her feet. Three suitcases, neatly lined. She stood still beside them, arms crossed, face pale, lips dry. Her eyes looked like they hadn’t slept. They didn’t hold light anymore. Just a quiet kind of sadness. Like something inside her had shut down.
Mrs Jenkins stood close to the door, her sad eyes peered at Jasmine’s figure. She didn’t know what went wrong but it was too abrupt and sad.
She was unaware of the fight that made Jasmine pack her stuff and wanted to leave.
Jasmine hadn’t seen Kingsley since last night. Since he handed her the divorce papers.
No words. No reason. Just his last goodbye gift where he ruined Jack and a silent treatment.
Nicole’s car pulled up in front of the door and she rushed over. She didn’t even greet her. Just stared at the suitcases and then at Jasmine’s face.
"This is bullshit," Nicole hissed.
"It’s morning. Don’t cuss." Jasmine said tiredly as she moved away from the door.
Mrs Jenkins came over. She held Jasmine’s hand. "My dear."
Jasmine smiled bitterly at the old woman. She shook her head, knowing damn well what she wanted to say or ask. But she had no idea either. Only Kingsley knew the reason he was doing all this to her.
Nicole grabbed the first suitcase and tossed it into the trunk. "You don’t even know what you did wrong? He didn’t say anything?"
Jasmine didn’t answer. She barely blinked.
Nicole looked at her again, softer this time. "Jasmine..."
Jasmine shook her head a little. "I’m tired, Nic. Just tired." Her voice was flat. "Let’s just go."
Mrs Jenkins took a step back, sadness twirling in her eyes but she knew she couldn’t do anything. They were young couples but couples do fight. Maybe they will get it right.....soon.
She climbed into the passenger seat like her bones hurt. Like every step took too much effort. Her hands folded in her lap. She stared out the window like she wasn’t really there.
Nicole slammed the trunk shut and cursed again under her breath. "He’s a damn coward," she muttered as she got in and started the engine.
Jasmine shut her eyes, trying to block out everything else out of her head. The exhaustion started to wash over her when she relaxed her back on the seat.
The car pulled away slowly and Nicole’s curses served as the mantra of the day.
Meanwhile, Inside the Mansion...
Kingsley stood behind the curtain in his study. The window was cracked open. His hands were shoved deep into his pockets. His eyes narrowed at the car that drove out of his compound.
He watched the car drive off. He didn’t move and didn’t blink. Just stared at it mindlessly as if he was zoning out in daybreak.
His face was blank. No anger. No sadness. Just... still.
But inside—he was burning.
His jaw clenched so hard it hurt. His chest felt tight like something was pressing on it from the inside.
He hated this.
Hated that his past was now a shadow over Jasmine too. Hated that he had no words to fix it. All he could do was push her away before the truth swallowed her.
He told himself it was for her good. That she deserved better. That he had to let her go.
But still—watching that car turn the corner, disappearing down the road—it felt like something inside him just broke.
And he didn’t move.
Didn’t chase her.
He didn’t speak or explain.
Just stood there, hands in his pockets, staring through the window like a man watching his own heart leave.
But that raging inferno inside of him was willing to pour out. The very man who did this harm—even though he was Jasmine’s father—would make pay for it.
"Sir..." Raymond called from behind him with a rather conflicted look on his face. "Do you think..." he trailed off a little. "...it is worth it??"
A sudden tension filled Kingsley’s back as he paused close to the window. After a while, he spun and faced Raymond who lowered his head.
"I don’t care if it’s worth it but as long as I see Moore Trevor weep over what he did to me...." He pulled out his chair and sat on it, he crossed his legs. "Then, that would be worth the trouble."
"You love his daughter." Raymond retorted. Not knowing where the zeal was coming from. Maybe because he knew how petty Nicole could be. As long as Jasmine was concerned, it was Kingsley—his boss—who did it...Nicole would also want to kick his ass off because he was close to the man who hurt her best friend. Maybe this was him saving his ass.
"And those feelings would die on their own." He said but those words seemed like a mere joke. He wasn’t sure if that was possible to do. But he could try.
He can’t allow Moore Trevor to win this. After he destroyed his family, he can’t allow him to enjoy the benefits of having the Elms as in-laws. He would strip him of everything good. And to do that, he had to firstly kill whatever feelings he had for Jasmine.
"Boss Elm..." Raymond shifted in his stance. "I know it’s not in my place to tell you this but that’s close to impossible. You’re choosing vengeance over love and it’s doom to fail."
"That’s enough talk from your end, Raymond." Kingsley cut him off immediately. "Bring over the files I asked for." He shut him off. As if he was scared that any more words from Raymond would make his resolve crumble and dissolve completely.
Raymond tipped his head at him and dropped the files on the table. His face remained blank. Hating how he was doing this with him. "Those are the dealings you asked for. The rumors should be enough to make Mr Trevor grow weak and his shareholders will begin to question him."
Kingsley hummed. Tapping his fingers on the desk while reading through. He seemed like a whole new person at that moment. A vengeful person who wanted nothing but to make another person suffer a loss. "Great. Hand this over to various media companies. I need the news published soon!"
