Reborn Heiress: Married To My Ex-Husband's Rival -
Chapter 72 Calm Before The Storm
Chapter 72: Chapter 72 Calm Before The Storm
"You..." Nicole was flabbergasted as she stared at the staggering man before her.
It was Raymond.
How and when did he come to her house?? And he was standing drunk on her porch.
"Nicole..." he whispered. This was so unlike Raymond. Nicole frowned deeply before stepping aside, she placed a hand behind him to assist him into the room.
Raymond placed his left hand around her neck, Nicole assisted in carrying him to the next couch before closing her front door.
She ran her hand across her hair as she stared down at Raymond who had slumped over the couch. His sleeve was undone, a few buttons were missing, and his hair was wet.
His legs were on the floor while half of his body was on the couch. His eyes were shut as he kept mumbling some words.
Nicole entered the kitchen and came out with a bowl and napkin. She painstakingly cleaned his face and it was difficult because Raymond was completely knocked out.
’Why did he get himself so drunk??’ Nicole grumbled within her. After wiping his face clean, she took off his shoes and placed his legs on the chair. She tried to raise his body and take off his suit but it was near impossible so she let him sleep in his suit.
The air conditioner was okay in the living room. She sighed before taking a long time to stare at him.
Another heavy sigh left her lips before she sat on the ground close to him, gawking at his sleeping face.
He hasn’t changed much. He still looked like an Angel while sleeping. He pouted his lips slightly, his hair fell on the side of his face as he slept on her couch.
Who would have thought Raymond would come to her in such a state and the middle of the night??
Jasmine had indeed mentioned that Raymond lived in the area and that was the reason he was able to find this apartment for her.
Now, the biggest question in her head was why Raymond lost his cool and got drunk. She hasn’t seen him in such a condition before. Raymond was always so cool and reserved—maybe that was why he also became Mr Elm’s secretary. Mr Elm was known to be a notorious murderer—according to rumor. Raymond had to be super reserved and cool to be able to contain that.
Nicole sighed deeply, the amount of sighing she had been doing was mostly not due to exhaustion. It was guilt.
Staring at his peaceful face, made Nicole wonder how much pain she had caused him when she suddenly disappeared on him.
’Did he also get drunk like this??’ She questioned in her head. The thought was unsettling as she watched him.
Regret flashed in her eyes but she quickly blinked it away. Balling her fists, she had to remind herself that she had a valid reason for leaving. Else, her life would have been at stake. She and Hailey would not have been alive today. As long as Hailey was safe, she would keep reminding herself that she did the right thing by staying away from Raymond.
Staying with him would have been disastrous for her. And this fact was something Raymond couldn’t and shouldn’t find out about. The last thing Nicole wanted was a ruckus that would involve herself and bring her out in the light.
Worn out, Nicole stood up to leave. She gave him a last look. Just when she was about to exit the living room, his mumbling rushed out.
"Mom...." The words came out faint, dull, and low. But coated in pain and anguish.
His mom.....
Nicole turned pale when she heard that. His mom, how could she forget her??
How could she forget Raymond’s mother when she was the exact reason for the feud between them??
Mrs Schnitzel, Raymond’s mother—as long as she was involved, Nicole can never be with Raymond!
And from what she knew, Raymond cherished his mother so very much. He would do anything for her and he respected her so much. Even if she was to tell Raymon what transpired, he wouldn’t believe her—right??
He would choose his mother a thousand times—
With that in mind, Nicole hardened her resolve as she moved out of the living room, and headed to her bedroom. With the thoughts that Raymond would leave her house the moment morning came.
Because Being with Raymond was wrong.

Jasmine was more than restless as she paced around her room, her phone ringing tone resounded in the room.
She chewed her nails as she waited for Kingsley to answer the call. Her mind went off to the worst scenario ever.
He had been acting strange since he got that call in Chicago. He had been weird since then. All because of the crippled woman??
Jasmine tried not to think too much and not get worried because of the woman. After all, Kingsley wouldn’t settle for a crippled woman, right??
In as much as she tried to convince herself, her panic still set in. Especially how her calls were directed to voice mail.
It irked her. She wondered what he was doing at the moment. If he was still with the woman in the hotel. If....he kissed her or not.
"Pick up, Kingsley..." Jasmine grumbled as she sat on the edge of her bed, redialing the number for the umpteenth time.
Just when the call was about the be directed to voicemail again, it was finally answered.
Jasmine’s heart took a little leap when the call got connected, she placed the phone to her ear. "Hello..."
"Hello, Mrs Elm."
Jasmine froze. It was a woman’s voice. Jasmine quickly pulled her phone away from her ear and checked if she dialed the wrong number.
But the contact name ’Husband’ was glaring back at her.
Kingsley’s phone was answered by a woman. She has never answered any of Kingsley’s calls before. Who, then was this woman??
"Where is Kingsley?" Jasmine was hurt, her throat was clotted as she asked. She hated that she was in this position.... Jealousy ripped through her.
The woman was nonchalant. Probably snarling at her. "Oh. King is in the bathroom."
’King.’
Jasmine bit her lower lip. Noting how the woman was trying to show off her relationship with her husband. She called him ’king’.
How close were they??
A lot of unanswered questions filled Jasmine’s head. She fell quiet. Not sure if she had the right to be mad at Kingsley. Even when they had sex, he never claimed to love her. He was just a contract husband. She shouldn’t be mad that he went out to be with someone else....but. Jasmine couldn’t control the wave of sadness that crashed on her. The simmering anger and tension build up inside of her.
The woman spoke up again. "If you have nothing else to say. I’ll end the call now."
"Wait..." Jasmine’s pulse quickened. "Who are you?" She whispered in a calm tone. The calm before the storm. A storm that Kingsley would face if he ever returned.
"Ohh..."
Jasmine could imagine the smile that had crept its way to the lady’s face as she introduced herself. "Let’s say, I’m the woman who is back to claim her fiancé."
Jasmine’s face turned rigid. Shocked by that statement. "Fiance?" She probably sounded dumb. "What fiance?"
"Kingsley Elm...is my fiancé." She declared as if that was the truest truth ever in existence.
Jasmine forced herself not to believe but a woman can’t just claim to be engaged to someone, right??
Kingsley even went over to a hotel with the lady. He also felt comfortable enough to leave his phone with her....
That says it all. That was Jasmine’s cue to know...
"I-i, I don’t understand any of this. Kingsley is my husband..." Jasmine tried to sound firm but her voice kept losing its power.
A taunting laughter followed. The woman was mocking her belief. As if she was just a fool for believing that Kingsley was still hers.
"Your husband?" She gagged. Jasmine’s fingers curled. Unable to add anything more in her defense.
"Good for you, I guess." She stated. Her voice rink of premium mockery and sarcasm. ".... But I think you should watch how your ’husband’ becomes mine again. Then, maybe—just maybe, you’d finally realize that you’ve got no husband."
"Again?" Jasmine was puzzled. Not sure what to expect anymore. "What do you—" her voice trailed off when she realized the call had ended. "Hello? Hello?" She called out again but the line was dead.
Jasmine’s face turned grim. Kingsley already had a fiancée?? Yet, he got married to her!!
The thought that kingsley was no different from Jack made Jasmine feel suffocated. Her vision began to turn blurry as reality caught up with her once again. Fate....
Maybe, she really couldn’t escape her painful fate. She would always be toyed with. She would always move from pan to fire. And maybe, Kingsley Elm was just another bitter lesson for her.
