Chapter 31 Dance With The Devil

Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Dance With The Devil

"Mrs Elm, Here’s a cute reminder for you to Come pick us up at the airport later today. Don’t forget the time." Nicole taunted Jasmine who was smiling broadly.

The call was in hand-free mode because Jasmine was currently driving to the office. She was proudly driving Kingsley’s Bugatti to Trevor’s group...maybe to tell her father to zip up his hate for kingsley and see that she was enjoying her marriage.... her fake marriage.

"Of course, I’ll clock off work early today to come pick you and Hailey up," Jasmine promised as she drove into the company’s garage.

Her left brow raised a little when she saw so many cars parked there, it was a usual thing but this....this was too much which was so unusual.

"Okay then, I’ll leave you to start your day at the office." Nicole ended the call after bidding each other goodbye.

Turning off the car’s engine, Jasmine grabbed her phone and bag and got out of the car.

Her eyes swept across the garage, numerous cars were there and she wondered what was happening.

With curiosity in her eyes, she moved forward toward the office building with lots of questions in her head.

Stepping into the office lobby, she was met with numerous reporters who were setting up their cameras and other instruments they came along with.

Jasmine was stunned by the scene, she unknowingly paused at the door.

It was crowded in the lobby, she spotted some people moving into elevators while others used the stairs.

"What’s going on?" Jasmine muttered to herself before continuing to venture into the space.

The reporters quickly spotted her but she just threw them a snarling look before walking past them, heading towards the CEO’s elevator. She was allowed to use that, of course.

She could still feel the reporters taking photos of her as she made her way to the elevator. Now, she was more than puzzled as to why there were so many reporters from different media companies.

’Does father know about this?? What’s the occasion?? What’s happening??’ These thoughts filled Jasmine’s head as she pressed the button heading to the top floor.

She nervously held her bag, clutching the handle of the bag a little too tightly. The dread of the unknown crawled up to her throat.

Bing.

The elevator door pried open, revealing the top floor and Jasmine didn’t know which floor was more worst.

She saw men in black suits and pants all standing outside the conference room. Other people came out of elevators and stairs, including the reporters from downstairs.

Clicking of cameras and chattering filled the place, Jasmine slowly walked out of the elevator, going nearer to find out what was happening.

But she was stopped on the way by one of the people in her team, a young lady. "Good morning, Miss Tre—Mrs Elm."

Jasmine quickly whispered to her. "What’s going on??" Her eyes sought answers but before the woman could respond, a voice rang out in the hall.

"It’s time, everybody can come in now, do not rush." The information drew Jasmine’s curiosity. The man who spoke up was her father’s secretary.

The young lady from earlier quickly said to Jasmine. "I was told by Mr. CEO to inform you to join in the conference meeting when you clock in."

Jasmine just nodded absentmindedly and followed suit, the people were slowly going in and the reporters lastly entered.

Jasmine stepped into the conference room and realized that the meeting had already begun.

She caught sight of her father in the podium with his secretary standing behind him.

Reporters were at the back of the room, they were stationed there while covering the whole event.

In the middle of the room were shareholders, project managers, directors, team leaders and so many unfamiliar people she didn’t want to take note of, etc.

"Miss Trevor, be seated." Her father stopped in his speech to tell her, his eyes glued on her.

Jasmine frowned, his father didn’t use her title name—he still sees her as unmarried.

She didn’t refute him because there were so many people in the room, not to sound disrespectful to her father in public.

Jasmine complied and pulled out a seat without looking at anybody in particular.

Soon, the meeting resumed in full swing, Jasmine could feel a burning gaze on her and she drew in her head that it was probably Lorraine again...staring like always so she didn’t bother to look in the direction.

Mr Moore Trevor proudly announced. "With all this said, It is in our best interest to formally inform the public of our partnership with Raven’s group..." Hearing the name, Jasmine’s eyes snapped in surprise.

Is that what was happening today??? She had planned to tell her father to not go ahead with the partnership at the end of today....but it was happening already.

Or maybe her ears were playing tricks on her??

Without looking at her, Her father continued. "Let’s welcome the Raven’s group’s chairman, Jack Raven."

’What in God’s name is happening??’ Jasmine’s eyes bulged out in shock when she saw Jack across the table, he was there all along.

He was the one staring at her the moment she came in!!

Jasmine’s face twisted in annoyance when Jack flashed her a small glare before standing up from his chair rather...gracefully and walking towards the podium.

Reporters didn’t fail to capture every little change of emotions and expressions on Jasmine’s face. It was an interesting topic for them due to the history between the Trevor heiress and this man she suddenly ditched on their wedding day.

Jasmine balled her fist under the table as she glared tightly at her father who only gave her a small look before averting his gaze. Did she see....helplessness in his eyes?? Or it was just her hallucinating??

’Dad never liked Jack from the onset, so why?? Why is he doing all this?? Does Jack have something on my father??’ These thoughts swamped Jasmine’s head as she kept looking like a maltreated puppy at her father who always adored her and never did anything to displease her. But now, he’s....changed.

Firstly, he brought Lorraine over to come to seduce her. Now, what’s his deal with Jack Raven?

At the thought of Lorraine, Jasmine turned to look for him in the conference room but he was nowhere to be found. He couldn’t have missed this meeting!!!

Now, What the actual F$$k is really going on today!!!!????

Meanwhile, in a dark room, tied to a chair with bruises all over his face and upper body was Lorraine.

He looked beaten and battered while coughing out blood from his mouth. His hands were tied at the back, his hair was disheveled as he kept breathing with difficulty

Opposite him was a man who was smiling down at him with a cigarette in his hand. Kingsley’s face was blank as he kept staring at the bloodied man before him.

There was a single dim light in the middle of the room where Lorraine was tied, every other part was dark as night.

Raymond grimaced as he stood in the dark, away from the scene. He keenly watched Kingsley address Lorraine.

Kingsley dragged a whiff of the cigarette before blowing the smoke on Lorraine’s face making Lorraine cough out terribly. "You know that your biggest mistake was coming back to LA,right??" He asked calmly while dropping the cigarette on the ashtray close by.

Lorraine, even though he was exhausted, blood dripping out from the cut on his body and face, he still argued back. "You are not capable of loving Jasmine Because You’re a monster! Just watch out when the news of you Kidnapping me goes out to the public, it won’t only make the Netizens see you in the worst light ever but your status will also be ruined!" He cussed, his statement only made Kingsley chuckle lightly before it turned into a throaty laughter. A laugh of mockery.

His Deep voice made his laughter echo in every corner of the dark room. He was amused as he leaned in closer to Lorraine, a mischievous look glinting in his eyes.

"You know the worst person on earth?? It’s the person who has nothing to lose." He grinned from ear to ear, but his eyes were wicked. "I have the worst reputation ever, so how worst can it get?? Taking you into my custody is the nicest thing I did."

Stretching out slowly. Kingsley let his words sink into Lorraine’s head. "Just in case you forgot, I am the heartless monster who killed his parents. I can break you..." his eyes darkened dangerously as he gritted out lastly.

"Therefore, you Listen up, and listen real good. If you ever come across my wife, you better run. Keep your eyes down if she looks at you, and if you hear her call your name, disappear like a ghost. Get too close and you’ll be dancing with the devil, and trust me, you don’t want that dance. You better believe I’m serious, so let this sink into your thick skull."
