Chapter 100: Chapter 100 Jasmine’s Daughter

"What??" Jasmine gushed out. Almost immediately, a gunshot resounded, shaking everyone to the core.

"Oh fuck. Get down." Kingsley rushed forward. He covered Jasmine with his upper body as they lowered to the floor.

Jasmine turned pale as her heart took a fast leap in fear. She scurried under the table while Kingsley shielded her with his body.

Kingsley frantically grabbed his phone and dialed Raymond’s contact which was immediately answered.

Raymond cursed from the other end. "Boss. What was that?? Are you both safe??"

Kingsley’s eyes moved around. People were screaming and running around. The bartenders behind the counters were nowhere to be seen as they also ran for dear life.

"Yes. What about Nicole and her kid??"

"Elliot is with the kids near the swing so I’m positive that he is with Hailey. Nicole is safe here with me." Raymond reported in a hurry.

"What about our men?? Are they here?? We need to leave this premises." Kingsley’s eyes kept moving around,looking for a leeway out of their situation. "Get the men on standby!"

Jasmine’s face twisted as she tapped Kingsley’s shoulder but he was still busy giving out instructions.

"Kingsley..." Jasmine called out, her voice came out soft.

He quickly turned and saw that she had sightly become pale, bids of sweat filled her forehead. He panicked. "Are you okay??" He shoved the phone into his pocket and held her shoulders,trying to get her to a comfortable place to sit.

At this point,the whole park was silent but the cops had arrived,and a few people were beginning to come out of the various they went to hide.

But Kingsley’s concern was on the woman who was biting her lower lip. Jasmine muttered. "I think my water broke."

Kingsley raised a brow as he looked around. "What water??"

Jasmine sighed. "More like I wet myself. It happens when a woman is about to go into labor."

"Oh christ." Raymond rolled his eyes as he shook his head. "You really need to get your shits together,Boss."

Kingsley slumped on the floor of the toilet. He looked exhausted after emptying his stomach in the latrine.

Raymond sighed. Yet another moment to see how vulnerable the great Kingsley Elm could be.

Jasmine had been in labor for the past two hours, screaming out her lungs. While,Kingsley was busy throwing up,and suffering psychologically after seeing Jasmine in such a state.

"She’s in pain." Kingsley whispered. His mind flashed to the scene he witnessed in the ward.

"You need to pull yourself together. Her dad is here, you don’t want him to mock you later on, right?" Raymond asked. Knowing about the feud between them.

"I don’t even think I give a fuck about her dad at this point." Kingsley felt a bile rising up in his chest again. "Oh fuck this." He quickly pushed himself up and grabbed the toilet seat,throwing up again.

Raymond grimaced before he left to go find Nicole and Hailey. Kingsley kept vomiting non stop,looking rather traumatized.

Raymond spotted Nicole in the hallway with Hailey whose wrist was wrapped with a gauze. Due to the gunshot, she had tried to hide but fell and sprained her wrist.

Mr and Mrs Trevor were standing close to the door. They saw him come near, he nod before walking towards the bench Nicole was sitting on.

Nicole remained silent. Her shoulder was tensed, totally ignoring Raymond’s presence. He didn’t say a word too as they all remained in silence.

"Is he okay?" Nicole asked all of a sudden.

"He will be.." Raymond muttered. "He’s too shaken. He’s throwing up everything in his stomach."

Nicole sighed before rubbing her palm on her face. "God,this is taking too long. I’m getting chills."

"Why is that?"

"This..." Nicole looked around the hallway. Mrs Trevor praying, Mr Trevor standing on the far end of the corridor. "This whole scenario has happened before. When she underwent major surgery..."

Raymond sighed deeply. "That’s true. Let’s just hope."

Just then, the door cracked open and the female doctor walked out of the ward. The Trevors,Nicole and Raymond quickly stood up and rushed towards her.

The woman wore pants and a blouse with gloves on her hands. Her hair was covered too. "Congratulations Mr and Mrs Trevor..She gave birth to a female child."

Mrs Trevor covered her mouth with her palms,Nicole’s eyes brimmed with tears instantly.

"Ohhh...."Mrs Trevor whimpered. Her eyes shedding tears. Tears of joy. She hugged her husband. "We are grandparents now,Moore."

"When can we see her??." Nicole smiled while wiping off her tears.

The doctor spoke again. "After the nurses take care of her and the baby,the mother and child will be transferred to a different ward,then you all can go see them." With that said, the lady left.

Raymond turned to Nicole. "Congratulations,you’re an aunt."

"And a godmother." Nicole grinned. They all started congratulating each other. Nicole congratulated Jasmine’s parents who congratulated her too.

Raymond left afterwards to inform the man who had been puking about the news.

It felt surreal for Kingsley. He didn’t know if he was happy or not. "She said I’m not the father."

Raymond shook his head. "And you believe that??"

"She’s the one with child. She knows herself better and know who the father..."

Raymond cut his words. "Do you believe she has someone else in her life??"

Kingsley turned mute. He couldn’t say a word for the next few minutes. "I—I don’t think so."

"Good."

Kingsley nevertheless argued. "But...we are divorced. It doesn’t mean anything."

"I think we should wait for the baby’s certificate to be done. She would have to fill in a man’s name as the father,she can’t leave that space blank."

Kingsley hummed. "That’s right. And if she fills in her father’s name instead, that’ll be my cue to know that I’m the father of the child."

"And that there’s no other man." Raymond concluded.

The room was a little bit crowded with people. Kingsley remained standing at the end of the wall, watching Jasmine holding her baby, a baby that he hoped was his too.

Mr and Mrs Trevor were busy fanning over the child. Nicole had gone home with Hailey to bring the baby and nursing mother’s necessities. Kingsley had already called Mrs Jenkins to bring food for everybody.

Moore Trevor flashed Kingsley a look. Kingsley glared at him and he averted his gaze. He sighed afterwards as guilt surfaced on his face.

On the other hand, Kingsley couldn’t wait for the whole greeting to be over so the nurse could bring in the certificate. He needed to know if Jasmine was being truthful or not! And if he was indeed the father of Jasmine’s daughter or not.
