Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty. -
Chapter 33: Take care of him.
Chapter 33: Take care of him.
Zani entered the room to find Erica sitting on Sylus’s bed, her legs crossed and reading a book with one hand.
"Lady Erica..."
She called out as she closed the door behind her.
Erica gallantly closed the book and then shifted her gaze to Zani.
"Pardon my intrusion. I did knock before I entered, if that helps," she replied, not trying to hide the fact that she was razzing.
Erica was ten times prettier than she was as a kid.
Her silver hair was more vibrant, and her red, piercing eyes held more stories behind them.
Unlike the flashy dresses she was used to wearing, she now wore black leather pants and a black top that carelessly highlighted her curvy body.
She had a white coat to complement it, making her look more like an empress than a princess.
However, the one thing that didn’t change about her was her fixation with always staying by Sylus’s side.
Zani closed her eyes for a brief second and then strolled deeper into the room.
"I don’t think Prince Sylus would be thrilled to see you here."
"Really? You really think my own brother won’t be happy to know his beautiful sister has come to wish him luck on his five-star exam? How cruel."
Zani was now standing close to Sylus.
"Considering what you did last time, it’s expected for him to act like this."
Erica puffed her cheeks.
"Whose side are you on?"
As if answering a question of life and death, Zani answered with total solemnity.
"My master’s."
True, everyone in the castle already understood how obedient Zani was to Sylus.
So much so, even the king acknowledged it, making her the only slave in the castle who was granted the honor of dining with the royal family.
Because of her great loyalty to Sylus, one could say she was already part of the family.
"How did my brother end up with such a pretty girl like you?" Erica shook her head as she stood up from the bed.
"In any case, I just came to make sure he was prepared. And from what I can see, Sylus is not a normal human being; I can’t understand a single thing in his notes."
She flung the book on the table.
"Are you not going to accompany my lord to the academy?"
As soon as Zani asked, Erica sprinted towards her and grabbed her hand, her eyes sparkling with emotions.
"Right?!!! As his big sister, it is only fair that I go with him, no?" she cried. "But my dumb brother insisted I don’t; apparently, going alone is much better than going with me."
Zani could only move her face back a bit.
"Maybe he just wants to focus on the exam; my lord tends to go all out sometimes."
Erica sighed in response to that.
"Of course you defend him." She released her hold on Zani’s hand and then turned around.
But before she took any step, she slightly turned her head.
"My brother has a lot on his plate right now; the Adon Vale trial will be starting this week. Please make sure he doesn’t bite off more than he can chew while writing his exams at the academy."
Zani replied.
"I understand. You have nothing to worry about."
Erica smiled, walking out of the room without another word leaving her mouth.
As soon as she was gone, Zani shifted her focus to Sylus.
His overgrown black hair had covered the upper part of his face, making it easier to pay attention to his perfectly clear skin.
He was quite handsome, as seen with the numerous marriage proposals he had been getting from different noble families.
Handsome or not, Zani still understood him more than anyone else.
Before she got to drawn to his face—
"She is gone now, my lord; you can stop pretending to be asleep."
Sylus suddenly opened one eye to peek, making sure Zani was not trying to trick him.
Seeing that his sister had truly left the room, Sylus sat upright, sweating profusely with one hand resting on his forehead.
"That damn brat sneaked into my room before the sun was even up. And she wouldn’t leave either," he grunted in a low voice.
Zani began to remove the blanket from his body.
"Worrying about that isn’t something you should be doing. You have an exam soon and a meeting with Miss Rachal; you need to get ready."
"Right, exams..."
A dull expression played on his face.
Responsibility wasn’t on his list of liked to-do list.
Folding the blanket in her arms, Zani paused to look at him.
"Pardon my ignorance, but are you going to the academy by yourself?"
"Yeah."
"I cannot allow that. Please get ready; I’ll be following you."
’There she goes again.’
"At some point, you’re going to have to understand I can do things myself, too." Sylus stood up from the bed.
"Do I leave that impression?"
Zani’s gaze followed Sylus as he walked towards the corner of the room.
"Last time, you insisted on helping me wear my clothes."
"That was because you were showing signs of fever."
"Then you stopped me from entering the kitchen to pick snacks."
Zani’s face turned red for a bit.
"Her Highness told me to look after you; I was just doing my duties."
"Hmm, uh-huh, sure, sure."
Sylus walked past her, a towel now resting on his shoulder.
"I—I do let you do things; I am not overprotective. Don’t get the wrong idea, my lord."
Sylus simply waved.
"And please don’t use the hot water directly; remember to mix it so it doesn’t—"
Sylus shot her a ’You were saying?’ glare.
Zani immediately kept quiet, a bit embarrassed as she realized she just did it subconsciously.
"S-sorry."
Sylus chuckled and then walked out of the room.
As he left, Zani picked up the mirror beside her.
Looking directly at her reflection with a judging intent.
With one finger rubbing her cheek, she could see that her cheeks were beet red, almost glowing.
There was only one symptom she could think of.
"I think I’m getting a fever."
