Chapter 712: I’ll Prove It To You

Chapter 712: Chapter 712: I’ll Prove It To You

Abigail’s face turned red with anger. "Believe it or not, I’ll tear your mouths apart!"

She almost fainted with rage.

After finishing, Abigail lunged forward, but Lena Locke held her back and shook her head.

Lena turned and glared at Abigail. "Don’t stop me."

Abigail chuckled, pushed Lena back with a bit more force, then looked at the two girls who had been mocking them. "I don’t really remember your names, but that’s not important. You’re so ugly you’re not worth remembering. At least when you’re physically ugly, you can get plastic surgery. But an ugly heart can’t be fixed. As for Brandon and me, at least he loved me. Has he ever even looked at you?"

"If he did, he’d probably think his eyes got dirty," Lena added, nodding approvingly at Abigail’s words which hurt without a single curse.

"Tsk tsk, not just ugly, but with a foul mouth too. Didn’t brush your teeth this morning or did you eat shit?" Ralf stepped up, face full of sincerity.

"I can testify! I saw them both coming out of the girls’ bathroom just now," Sally Hood, who had been messing around with Ralf, raised her hand.

Master Hudson suddenly realized, "No wonder I smelled something foul as soon as I entered the classroom."

"I’ll go get you some deodorant!" Wilson Jasper, usually silent, hurried to find some.

The two girls’ faces turned green and white as they were insulted. They shot furious looks at everyone and ran out of the classroom in shame, only to bump into the teacher on the way in.

The teacher who got bumped into looked confused. "Class is starting. Where are you going?"

Lena stood up. "Teacher, they’re going to brush their teeth!"

The whole classroom burst into laughter, while the two who had just stepped outside ran even faster.

Abigail watched everything unfold in front of her, shaking her head with a smile, deeply moved. Lena and the others were her biggest gain since she came to the medical university.

Standing at the door like a guard, Hughes, who had been thinking about how to teach the two girls a lesson after hearing Abigail being mocked, found it amusing that the two ended up fleeing. He looked at the girl, already focused on class.

She was nothing like the little butterfly he remembered. His little butterfly used to be kind but reclusive, even his presence online could sense her insecurity and timidity. He was her only friend, but now, Abigail was confident and beautiful, attracting everyone’s attention like the sunshine, and she finally had real friends around her.

Hughes felt a mix of disappointment and true happiness for Abigail.

Abigail, sitting in the classroom, felt a gaze from the back door. She turned and met Hughes’ eyes, reassuring him with a slight smile, as if to say she was fine.

After class, Abigail went straight to Headmaster Theodore’s office.

Originally, she planned to finish her courses quickly, accumulate enough credits, and graduate as soon as possible. But the kidnapping incident, the looks her schoolmates gave her today, and Hughes who never left her side made her realize that the school was no longer suitable for her.

After so much, the aspects of campus life were far from her initial intention. Although she was reluctant to part with Lena and the others, she now had more important tasks to complete.

Headmaster Theodore was thrilled to see Abigail. "Abigail! If you hadn’t come to see me, I was planning to find you these days."

Abigail raised an eyebrow. "What do you need from me?"

"I want to invite you to join the medical school’s research lab," Cameron Theodore said seriously, different from his usual casual demeanor.

Abigail didn’t respond immediately, but gave Cameron a probing look.

Cameron didn’t beat around the bush. "Your performance in Dean Foster’s lab left a deep impression on me. With your abilities, it’s unnecessary to waste time in school. Our medical school’s research lab is one of the largest in the country, receiving annual support from the government and gathering top talents in various medical fields across the nation. Joining us would be a win-win situation for you and the lab."

Abigail knew all this, and this was her purpose in seeking out Headmaster Theodore. Now that he brought it up first, it saved her the trouble of speaking up, though she found it unusual. She had been back for a while and hadn’t seen him bring it up, but now that she came to him, he mentioned it first, which felt slightly strange. "Headmaster Theodore, do you really think highly of me? I’m only a sophomore. Joining the research lab might cause a lot of discontent."

"Of course! If it weren’t for the incident you encountered before, I would’ve invited you earlier! When I heard you returned, I wanted to contact you immediately, but Brandon refused on your behalf... Hehe, don’t worry. With your skills, even if they disagree, it won’t matter." Cameron Theodore cut himself off halfway, realizing he slipped up. Trying to save face, he awkwardly asked, "You and Brandon...?"

That guy protected this girl so much; how could they break up so suddenly? Cameron Theodore wasn’t quite sure.

But having heard about their breakup, he finally dared to bring it up, afraid of offending the medical school’s sponsor casually.

Abigail was momentarily stunned, but quickly understood why Brandon had refused. The man was always hung up on her previous life’s death. Rather than seeing her engrossed in research, he preferred her living like an ordinary college student, carefree and happy.

But everything would change upon entering the research lab.

She sighed lightly, unsure how to respond to Cameron Theodore’s question. Were they broken up? It was tough to answer.

Headmaster Theodore realized mentioning Brandon was inappropriate, so he quickly changed the subject. "Are you able to decide on joining the research lab on your own?"

"Yes, my decisions are my own." This time, Abigail responded quickly and confidently.

Cameron Theodore sighed in relief. Making her own decisions was good. "So, think it over?"

"No need to think. I agree. I came today for the same purpose, but I have a few conditions," Abigail said decisively. If their goals aligned, the rest was just negotiating terms.

"Go ahead." Cameron knew her abilities weren’t just a matter of talent after seeing her performance at Dean Foster’s lab and watching her rescue people at the car accident scene.

Abigail pondered for a moment. "First, no more daily classes. I’ll only attend annual final exams. Second, I understand the lab applies for government protection for professor-level researchers. Though I’m not a researcher yet, I hope to receive this protection..."

Abigail listed a few more minor conditions, but the most important to her was the second one.

The first wasn’t hard, but the second was different.

Abigail realized relying on Brandon or Benjamin to protect her in secret wasn’t as effective as leveraging government power.

She knew the country had a protective system for high-end researchers. If she were included, anyone targeting her would think twice about opposing the government, relieving Brandon of many worries.

Cameron understood her intentions after listening and scrutinized Abigail. "The rest is negotiable, but the second might be tough. You’ll need to prove your worth."

Abigail’s eyes sparkled with confidence. "I’ll prove it to you."
