Reborn As Mr. Coldwell's Wife
Chapter 56: You Look Good

Chapter 56: You Look Good

The morning light filtered through the curtains of Ellen’s hotel room as she lay in bed, savoring the rare moment of peace. Today was a day to relax and recharge before the wedding party in the evening.

The anticipation of the evening ahead was building, but for now, she focused on relaxing. As the afternoon turned into evening, Philip had sent a team of stylists to help her get ready for the wedding party. They moved around her quickly and efficiently, each one dedicated to ensuring she looked perfect for the event. Ellen thought it was a bit too much, but Philip had insisted. "We’re in Paris," he had said with a reassuring smile. "Of course, you need to doll up."

Ellen sighed, reminding herself that Philip was right. She didn’t want to embarrass Mason, and looking her best was the least she could do. As the stylists worked their magic, she was both excited and nervous. She had never been the center of so much attention before, except perhaps on her wedding day.

The makeup artist carefully applied foundation, blending it seamlessly into her skin. "You have such a lovely complexion," she said with a smile. Ellen blushed slightly, not used to receiving such compliments. The stylist continued, adding a touch of blush to her cheeks and a soft, smoky eye look that made her blue eyes stand out.

Next came the hairdresser, who meticulously curled and pinned her hair into an elegant updo. "You have beautiful hair, Mrs. Coldwell," he commented, as he worked. Ellen smiled, feeling a bit more at ease with each kind word. The final touch was a pair of delicate diamond earrings that caught the light and added a touch of sparkle to her look.

When the team finally stepped back, Ellen took a moment to admire herself in the mirror. She looked stunning, not that she was narcissistic, but their work really made her shine. Her deep blue gown hugged her curves perfectly, and the intricate beading shimmered with every movement. She felt like a princess.

"Thank you so much," Ellen said, turning to the stylists. They smiled warmly, clearly pleased with their work. After a few more adjustments and final touches, they packed up their things and left the room, leaving Ellen alone.

As the door closed behind them, Ellen took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror again. She felt a sense of pride and confidence she hadn’t felt in a long time. This was a big day, and she was determined to make the most of it.

Ellen’s mind drifted to the conversation she had with Edrick the other day. He had mentioned being invited to a wedding party as well. What if this was the same event? The thought of running into him made her stomach flutter with nerves. "Ah, so what," she muttered to herself, trying to shake off the anxiety. "We can just say hi and part ways."

She smoothed down the front of her dress, checking every detail to make sure everything was perfect. Her heart raced with anticipation, but she felt ready. She had come to Paris with a purpose, and tonight was another step towards fulfilling it.

The room was quiet now, save for the hum of the air conditioner. Ellen took a few moments to collect her thoughts. She thought about Mason, wondering what he would think when he saw her. Would he be pleased? Surprised? She hoped he would be proud to have her by his side.

As she mulled over her thoughts, her phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Philip. "Mason is already waiting for you in the lobby. Come down whenever you’re ready." Ellen read the text and took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself. This was the first time she would accompany Mason as his wife to a big party like this. Helga’s housewarming party definitely didn’t count as one of those grand events.

Ellen stood in front of the mirror one last time, smoothing out any invisible wrinkles on her gown. The deep blue fabric shimmered in the soft light, hugging her curves perfectly. She grabbed her small, elegant party bag, ensuring she had everything she needed. Taking a final deep breath, she opened the door and stepped out of her hotel room, her heels clicking softly against the carpeted floor.

The elevator ride to the lobby seemed to take forever. Ellen’s heart raced with anticipation. When the doors finally opened, she stepped out into the opulent lobby, which was bustling with activity.

Ellen scanned the lobby, her eyes searching for Mason. She finally spotted him sitting on a plush couch, looking sharp in his black tux. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his blue eyes sparkled with an intensity that took her breath away. Next to him sat Aubrey and Philip. Aubrey was talking to Mason, her face lit up with excitement.

Ellen walked towards them, her steps measured and graceful. As she approached, she cleared her throat softly to get their attention. Aubrey’s voice trailed off, and all eyes turned to Ellen. Mason was the first to stand, his eyes widening as he took in her appearance. Ellen couldn’t avert her gaze from him; he looked strikingly handsome, the tuxedo really bringing out his tall, athletic frame.

"Mason, you look really handome," Ellen said, her voice soft but filled with genuine admiration.

Mason’s eyes never leaving hers. "And you, Ellen, you look good."

Philip, standing off to the side, nodded appreciatively. "Ellen, you look gorgeous," he praised, his eyes filled with pride.

"Thank you, Philip," Ellen replied, her smile widening.

For a moment, Mason and Ellen simply stared at each other. The noise of the lobby seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in their own little world. Ellen felt butterflies in her chest, all excited and a bit anxious. Mason’s gaze was so intense, so sincere, that it made her feel cherished and admired.

Aubrey, still sitting on the couch, cleared her throat loudly, breaking the spell. Ellen blinked and turned to her, a hint of surprise in her eyes. "Oh, Aubrey," she said, a bit flustered. "I forgot you were there."

Ellen didn’t purposely ignore Aubrey like she did yesterday. This time, she was simply too focused on Mason to care about anything else. Aubrey’s face turned sour, her lips pressing into a thin line.

Ellen could sense the tension building and didn’t want Aubrey to spoil her good mood any further. Quickly, she stepped closer to Mason and slipped her arm through his, hugging it gently. "Shall we?" she said, her voice bright and cheerful.

Philip gave them an enthusiastic wave. "Have a great night, you two!" he called out, his excitement genuine and infectious.

As Mason and Ellen began to walk away, Ellen glanced back and saw Aubrey’s hand clenched into a fist, her knuckles white with frustration.
