Chapter 278: Chapter 279 Teach Someone a Lesson Chapter 278: Chapter 279 Teach Someone a Lesson Pei Chengye left the Phoenix Perch Hall, exited the imperial palace, and returned to his own residence.
Just as he stepped through the entrance, he sensed an unusual fragrance wafting through the air.
As he walked into the room, the fragrance grew stronger.
On the bed, lay a half-dressed young woman of ravishing beauty, her skin radiant and fair, captivatingly stunning.
Her eyes, like pools of water, ensnared his soul as she cooed softly, “My Lord~~”
Her voice was sultry and bone-melting, irresistibly drawing him in. A heat surged within Pei Chengye, and he longed to pounce on her, to press her beneath him and cherish her fiercely.
He extended his hand and gently lifted the chin of the beauty, asking, “What do you want, you little enchantress?”
Liu Yanran’s gaze was seductive as silk; she bit her red lip and murmured, “Your consort wants your heart!”
“Alright~~ then take it!” Pei Chengye replied and leaned down to kiss the corner of her mouth, but Liu Yanran clamped her legs around him tightly, preventing him from advancing further.
Liu Yanran shyly spoke, “My Lord, you are a prince, and you might even become the Crown Prince someday. How can you be so rough…”
Her words were laced with endless allure.
A flame of desire ignited in Pei Chengye; he quickly kicked off his boots, clambered onto the bed, and pinned her beneath him.
As he tore off her clothes, he chuckled warmly, “This proves just how much this prince values you!”
Liu Yanran’s cheeks were tinted with a slight blush, but she soon offered a radiant smile, hooking her arms around his neck and willingly merged with him in a tangle of limbs.
After a stormy interlude, a guard’s voice came from outside the door, “Second Prince, your subordinate has something to report.”
Pei Chengye released the woman in his arms, dressed, and walked out, speaking sternly, “What is it?”
The guard knelt reverently on the ground, murmuring, “The matter of the private minting has clues.”
“Oh? Who is it?”
He had tampered with the silver, and now it had appeared on the market, prompting him to send someone to investigate. Surprisingly, they had obtained results so quickly.
“It’s the Fourth Prince, Pei Jingyi.”
At that, a cold gleam flashed in Pei Chengye’s eyes as he asked icily, “How could it be him?”
“Your subordinate saw those men enter the Fourth Prince’s Residence.”
The corner of Pei Chengye’s mouth twitched slightly; he hadn’t expected such audacity from someone usually so meek. It reminded him of the recent rumors that Pei Jingyi and Princess Ninghe had become quite close.
It seemed his ambitions weren’t small; he had previously overlooked him.
“Teach him a lesson, tell him not to covet what is not his, to stay in his place, and he might still find a way to live. Otherwise, he’d better watch his back.”
“Yes.” The guard understood immediately and set off to carry out the orders.
In the cover of night, a carriage raced through the streets, stopping in front of the Fourth Prince’s Residence.
As Pei Jingyi stepped down from the carriage, a hostile aura assaulted him.
His eyes widened in alarm, and he scanned his surroundings, ready to flee.
But it was too late; a sword was already pressed against his neck.
“Who is it!” Pei Jingyi barked.
“Fourth Prince, please come with me,” the man’s hoarse and deep voice sounded.
Pei Jingyi’s brow furrowed as he coldly demanded, “Who are you? Why should I go with you?”
“If the Fourth Prince is unwilling, I shall have to force you.”
As he spoke, the man applied pressure with the sword, causing a cut to form on Pei Jingyi’s pale neck. Pei Jingyi felt the pain and glared at him through gritted teeth.
“What exactly do you want to do?”
“I merely wish to invite the Fourth Prince for a walk,” the man said indifferently, pressing the sword again, so blood trickled down the skin.
Pei Jingyi’s eyes shifted unpredictably, and after a moment, he sighed softly, “Lead the way.”
A satisfied smile spread across the man’s face, and he ushered Pei Jingyi toward a nearby alley, while other people who tried to follow were blocked by a group of men in black.
Inside the alley, a man in a cloak stood with his back to him, but this figure felt strangely familiar.
“I don’t know who you are, but why go to such lengths to bring me here?” Pei Jingyi asked casually.
“I merely wished to warn the Fourth Prince not to covet what isn’t yours, for what has been consumed must be returned,” the cloaked man paused, his voice chillingly cheerful, “If there is a next time, I won’t be so polite.”
With that, the man in the cloak laughed as he walked away.
Pei Jingyi thought he could leave, but the path ahead was blocked.
Several hooded figures in black drew closer, and Pei Jingyi asked nervously, “What… what do you want?”
The men just sneered, offering no response.
Pei Jingyi took a few steps back, his fear evident, “You… what do you intend to do? I am the Fourth Prince. If you harm a single hair on my head, none of your families will live to tell the tale!”
One man scoffed, “But only if you get the chance!”
Suddenly, Pei Jingyi was thrown against a nearby wall. The pain brought a grimace to his lips, and before he could react, he was bombarded with punches and kicks.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally stopped. He lifted a hand to wipe the blood from his mouth, his face deathly pale and his forehead slick with sweat.
“You… what exactly do you want?”
