Reborn As A Phoenix With Beast Taming System -
Chapter 72: A New Home For The Elves
Chapter 72: 72: A New Home For The Elves
In the next morning, Ash, accompanied by Yunxian & Elara, headed toward an unused property at the Western Borough whose owner’s had already been long gone. Since the property has no heirs nor heiresses, henceforth, the Council Leader was obliged to maintain the property.
Meanwhile, Zhou Rui had no choice but to return to her boutique store to handle the business and had to be picked up with a horse by her staff, Tantan.
In order to simplify the buying process for him, Yunxian delegated the menial task and paperwork to her servant, Maomao. Afterward, Maomao went to the Council Hall to deal with the bureaucracy and whatnot.
Of course, Yunxian didn’t delegate this task to her based on a whim. She knew for the best that Maomao was able to do the job despite her social status as a house servant. Yunxian also equipped Maomao with her official token should anyone asked the young woman on whose behalf she was coming to the Council Hall of West Borough.
The dark green haired young woman was quick witted. She could solve hundreds of problems with just ten clues. Alas, her body constitution has very weak affinity with Qi Energy since she was born as a Common Mortal. If only she could cultivate Qi Energy, her talent in problem solving would bring her to unprecedented heights!
Likewise, Ash also had an inkling that Maomao could become a Platinum Grade strategist with her intelligence alone.
"I feel bad for Maomao though." Ash quipped as he recalled their conversation before they left.
"And why is that?"
"Maomao was born to this realm, yet she couldn’t possibly cultivate due to her body constitution."
"Speaking of which, does mana require one to have an affinity?" Yunxian looked at Elara.
Although Yunxian couldn’t understand elvish, she was determined to learn it from scratch. After spending some time with Elara and the young Appraise, Yunxian could roughly decode the language syntax and structure.
"Elves have an innate affinity with nature. We draw the Mana from the surrounding elements and manifest our thoughts through spell and incantations. And thus, the phenomenon which we call Magic is born. Although, it is true that practicing magic requires talent. However, Mana does not require a strong body affinity as long as you understand how it behaves, you can conjure Magic anytime you want."
Yunxian nodded a couple times after Ash translated it back to her. "In other words, it only matters in one’s comprehension to manifest its power unlike Qi Energy that requires one to have the affinity to cultivate."
Elara nodded to confirm it. Likewise, the golden haired elf was no inferior in terms of intelligence compared to Yunxian. She could roughly understand what she was saying after she deciphered the language structure of this realm after just an overnight study. In fact, back in the Althean Great Continent, Elara mastered every race’s languages, even the demon race as well.
Ash sighed with relief as he could finally see the roof of the annex that Yunxian was talking about last night. Situated deep in the forest of the city’s outskirts, the annex offered privacy yet also a serene beauty of the woods.
Yunxian was very thoughtful as she chose this place for the elves. More importantly, this annex was very close to her place. If she wanted to, she could just walk through the woods from her backyard and arrive at this annex in just five minutes or so.
Before long, the carriage which was driven by Zhu Yan had arrived in front of the property. The three climbed down, and were astonished by the old and unique architecture of the place. There were two fox statues in the main courtyard, facing each other on either side of the entrance. It immediately reminded him of Huxian.
Although it’s been empty for years, the place was fairly well kept. Rumor has it, there were two Spirit Guardians in this annex who protect and keep the place clean.
"It used to be an inn back in the day. However, the old couple who ran the inn were no longer in this city, or perhaps, they were no longer in this realm anymore."
"Hold on a minute." Ash scowled. "I thought they were already dead."
"I said, "gone" not, "dead." Fufufu." Yunxian chuckled playfully.
"Ahh, okay, fair enough." Ash admitted that he lost to Yunxian in word play. "Does that mean that those old couples had ascended to the higher realm?"
Yunxian looked at him playfully. "Or perhaps, they were actually from a higher realm, came down here to have a short honeymoon and masqueraded as an old couple?"
"Plausible, yet also very debatable. Besides, there’s no way we could know the truth."
"There’s one way to find out. Shall we?"
"Yes, after you, Miss Yunxian."
As they stepped onto the front porch, a light breeze came from inside. The sliding doors opened slightly ajar as if the annex itself welcomed the guests.
Elara, on the other hand, was perplexed as she couldn’t perceive the Qi Energy behind the mechanisms of the Formation Array.
"Oh? That is unexpected." Ash smirked to one side. "Seems like the rumor is true, huh?"
"I guess so... I have a strong feeling that the Annex is testing you, as the soon-to-be new owner of this place, Young Lord Xiao Huo."
Ash weighed his choice for a moment. Since he had no idea about the true nature of this annex, he was concerned about Yunxian and Elara’s safety should anything go south. It would be best for them to not near the annex until he learned the truth.
"Very well. I will go inside alone. Zhu Yan, bring the ladies a bit further away from here."
"Understood, young lord!"
As the carriage had left the annex’s premises, Ash prepared his heart before he opened the sliding doors. Once he slid the door open, he was suddenly being pulled by a white mist that seemingly had its own mind.
He couldn’t even possibly fight it and was sucked into yet another reality.

After what seemed like an eternity, Ash woke up amidst an endless, mirror-like, lake. On either side of him, Ye Yinghui and Shanguang were lying down just like him. He was already in his phoenix form.
"It took you sooner than I expected to find my annex, Xiao Hûo. Do you miss me already? Even better, you really brought two of your followers with you today. What a pleasant surprise indeed."
Ash jolted up as he heard the familiar, endearing voice. He was overjoyed upon seeing Huxian’s beautiful face. The same also happened with his two Tamed Beasts. Both of them were lost for words as they couldn’t even comprehend that there’s a being like her.
"Lady Huxian?! How did you–"
"Appear in this place of all places?" Huxian replied before he could finish.
"Y-yes. My lady."
"But of course.... This annex is one my dwellings after all. And is connected to my White Lake."
"M-master..." Shanguang finally returned to herself after dazing for so long. "Is she your mentor?! She is so beautiful! Most beautiful Immortal Beast I have ever seen!"
"Lower your voice, Xiao Shan. You must behave yourself in front of her."
Huxian giggled merrily, after a step, she was already standing beside the young Ligress Beast. She ran through her finger onto Shanguang’s lustrous fur endearingly.
"Fufufu, you are so cute. Do you like it here, on the end of your tail? Or perhaps, under your chin?" Huxian played with Shanguang as if she had known the Lightnong Ligress Beast since birth.
Shanguang immediately fell in love with Huxian’s touch. Little did she know, Huxian massaged her hidden meridians, Shanguang immediately became more energetic than she ever had.
"Wow what was that?! I feel so light and more agile now!"
Huxian smiled at Shanguang, caressing her lower jaw. "Of course, as a fellow beast, I know the hidden meridians which would allow you to move faster and agile. However, you still need to train it properly to grasp the full extent of your potential."
"En! I definitely will train harder! Grandmaster!"
Afterward, Yunxian strode closer toward the Earth Drake. "Ah, you must Ye Yinghui. Hmm, since you are already fully matured, I have no need to tell you what to do. However, I have something for you."
Yunxian put her hand into the sleeve and produced an antique-looking scroll and placed it before the Earth Drake’s feet.
"Lady Yunxian, is this..."
"Yes. This scroll contains the manual of how to forge an Immortal Sword. Unlike the Sentient Sword that was born by imbuing a soul of a lesser living being into the blade, Immortal Sword, on the other hand, requires you to forge both the soul and the blade at the same time. With your ability as an Earth Drake, forging an Immortal Sword would be as easy as a kitchen knife since a beast’s consciousness is far stronger than that of a human."
Ye Yinghui still couldn’t believe that this ancient art still exists. During the immemorial era, when the Heavenly Rank Immortal Beasts were still roaming the plane, Immortal Swords could be seen flying around the sky with its master riding on top of them.
However, since the Gods of Heavenly Palace arrived in the Immortal Beast Realm, Immortal Swords vanished from existence along with the mysterious disappearance of those Heavenly Rank Beasts.
"Thank you so much, Lady Huxian!"
"Your welcome.* Huxian then turned to the young Heavenly Phoenix. "As for you, Xiao Hûo, you still need to finish your training, here, with me."
