Reborn As A Phoenix With Beast Taming System -
Chapter 58: Establishing A New Business
Chapter 58: 58: Establishing A New Business
"How preposterous!"
Wu Puhua stammered. As a merchant, he still had pride to maintain in front of other merchants who deliberately came from far away just to see this Appraiser.
In the world of trading, an Appraiser was highly regarded and was akin to a Sage with nearly boundless knowledge and wisdom.
Their ability to read, acknowledge, and test the attributes within an item was very important to determine the price of a commodity as a whole. Legend has it, some Appraiser could also communicate with Immortal Beast and ask them to reveal their abilities and what was their affinity with nature.
Without exaggeration, an Appraiser could live easily like a noble by just reading antique books, items or artefacts without needing to cultivate so hard and put their lives in danger every time they need to advance to the next level.
Granted, even a Nascent Soul Cultivator would need an Emerald Grade Appraiser to accompany them when it’s time to catalog the items and artefacts that they found in their journey or conquest.
"Let’s not get heated. I won’t charge you extravagantly either. However, I will take 25% of the total market value. How does that sound? If you don’t like it, go find another appraiser. Besides, appraising is just my hobby."
"T-twenty five percent of the total market value?!" Wu Puhua was flabbergasted. "Who do you think you are, hmph!"
"Who do you think I am? Your sniffer dog, is it? You think I am a fool who will accept your money without knowing the market value of your goods?! Bah! I know your games, all of you! Besides, twenty five percent is not a big deal if your goods are high-quality ones. Also, if your goods are no better than trash, I’d feed them to the pigs instead, or throw them into the hearth as a fuel for this Tavern to stay warm if it’s non edible."
Glancing downstairs through the railing, Ash smirked wide upon seeing the low grade merchants were gradually thinning out after hearing his price.
On the other hand, Wu Puhua was under pressure from Mount Wu Sect to sell the goods immediately. Regrettably, he had signed the agreement with the Mount Wu Sect to return the travel expenses which were covered by Mount Wu Sect if he couldn’t sell the goods.
Since the goods that he brought were Ultra Rare up to Epic Rank respectively, Jade Grade Appraiser would be the best option. If he ever hired Emerald or higher grade appraiser, only Gods know what would happen to his career as a merchant for bringing Epic Rank goods to those experts whose knowledge and wisdom transcend the sky itself could even Appraise items that could alter reality itself!
With an audible grumble, Wu Puhua finally agreed to the terms and conditions that were settled by Ash. Of course, since this occasion was just a pure business, Ash had no intent to trick Wu Puhua because he was also aware of the risk of domino effect if he offended Mount Wu Sect without a solid reason.
"Very well! Where and when we should conduct our business? Anywhere just fine by me."
"Let’s meet at Fairwind Hotel. It’s situated at the North Borough. 7:00 PM sharp, tonight. My henchmen will escort you in."
"Noted. Is that everything?"
"Yes."
"Alright then, let’s meet again at the hotel, tonight."
Afterward, Wu Puhua and his entourage left the tavern orderly without causing any rufus. The other guests let out a relieved sigh as the tension in the whole tavern was lowered significantly.
"Are you going to go there alone, Young Lord?"
"Do I have a better option?"
"Not exactly. However, you should be cautious and make sure he would not stab you in the back given the fact that he invited you to his den. Merchants are not much different than wolves after all. They will devour and reap anything for their own benefits."
Ash rubbed his chin, looking at the ceiling. Yunxian was right, although the Appraiser could reap so much profit from the deal, their lives were actually hanging by a thread. He would never know when or where he would be betrayed by his own clients if he had no powerful backup to countermeasures the possibility of assassination.
"Eh, you are right. I will be extra careful during the Appraisal. Thank you for the early warning. Miss Yunxian."
Yunxian chuckled merrily. "You are welcome."
"Right..." Ash rose from his seat, offering a hand to Yunxian. "Let’s head back to the clinic. I believe your patients must be waiting for you."
"En..."
As they headed downstairs to pay the bills, Lau Yi was insisting that they don’t need to pay. The amount of profits that she made for today alone was more than enough to cover everything.
"You can’t do that to me all the time, Miss Lau Yi." Ash pushed the raw gold pieces toward her person.
"No, no, no! It’s fine! Truly! Our Tavern has gained so much recognition thanks to your wonderful marketing strategy, fufufu."
"Errr...." Ash smiled wryly by the time he recalled his first visit. "Very well. I will repay your kindness in another way in the near future."
"We will be waiting for your return, Lord Xiao Hûo." Lau Yi bowed sincerely.
Laufei escorted them to the front door, and waved at the two as they left the premises.

As they were on their way back to the clinic, a group of men emerged from the alleyway all of the sudden, waylaying them in the middle of the street. Ash immediately stepped forward to cover Yunxian behind his body.
However, the man in cerulean blue robes immediately cupped their fists in unison. Soon, the man with sharp eyebrows and hardened face opened his mouth.
"Lady Tang Yunxian, we beseech you to return with us, Grand Elder Tang Yigao is now waiting at your annex!"
"Uncle Yigao?! What happened to him? Is he wounded?" The mournful look was very palpable in her eyes.
