On the way to the boutique that she mentioned, there was a marketplace where all kinds of merchants erected their tents on the roadside to sell various goods from different regions. Tons of laughter and the bickering from the people clashed in his ears.

With the Common Mortals population that exceeds 10 millions people in the West Borough alone, this West Borough Market was the very lifeline of these people who lived on the lowest ladder of the hierarchy.

They could only rely on themselves and survive by doing manual labour for the merchants who were also Cultivators in their own rights or become the servants in the Cultivators’ houses. Ash could relate to them wholeheartedly since his upbringing was more or less the same with these Common Mortals.

However, Ash suddenly halted his steps as he saw a bunch of "non-human workers" hauling crates from a big horse-drawn carriage. Though they were called "workers" Ash could tell that they were forcibly enslaved. They even had the chains and markings on their neck.

The fact that he recognized every species that were in the mix made his guts churned upside down. There were 2 orks, 3 dwarves, and 2 frail-bodied elves who clearly weren’t fit for this kind of job. Moreover, since their ability to conjure magic by manipulating mana was sealed by the Slave Mark, their overall strength was greatly reduced. It also worsened by the fact that they couldn’t process Qi Energy since Mana and Qi were totally different energies respectively.

"What’s the matter?" Yunxian turned at him as she realized that he stopped moving.

"Nothing." Ash said softly. "I’m just curious about those people with unique body features. It’s my first time seeing them."

"Oh, you mean the non-human workers? I’m not that knowledgeable about their nature. However, I heard that they came to this realm through the Dimension Rift that occasionally appeared in the Northern Region. Alas, their Body Constitution couldn’t withstand the Qi of this realm. As a physician, I would like to know more about their physique so I could help them in some ways. But, the law stated that we are prohibited to investigate the cause since it’d be dangerous if they could adapt and Cultivate the Qi Energy. That’s all I know."

"In other words, they are enslaved by the cultivators who caught them in the wilderness?"

"Sadly, yes." Yunxian looked down as she walked beside him. "They were no different than any Immortal Beast in the eyes of those power-hungry Cultivators who see mortality as a flaw yet they failed to comprehend that their Immortality began with the cycle of life and death."

"Interesting..." Ash rubbed his chin. "Now, I am curious. Where could we get one?"

"For what?!" Yunxian scowled at him.

"To help them find a way to adapt with this realm, of course." Ash chuckled jovially, showing his good nature as a man who appreciates diversity.

However, deep inside him, Ash sees these non-humans as a potential instrument to ignite rebellion and bring the city into chaos. If the City of Long River ought to fall by its own people, the Immortal Beast that were trapped in the Western Regions would have the chance to retaliate and migrate to the Eastern Regions and Southern Region.

Before long, the two have arrived at the boutique store which was owned by Yunxian’s friends. From the window, Ash could see a small crowd in the store who were busy choosing the garment for their clothes. Ash could feel their aura from where he stood which told him that they all were Cultivators.

And there was also a man whose Cultivation Rank was at Mid Rank Qi Gathering Realm, and was surrounded by beautiful girls who fawned on him.

That group of women giggled as soon as they saw Yunxian’s person were holding hands with a lousy man who was donned in tattered black robe. However, Yunxian just simply ignored them and headed toward the receptionist table.

The young and cute staff soon recognized Yunxian, she stood perfectly straight like a pole and bowed ninety degrees while cupping her fist to the front.

"Welcome back, Lady Tang Yunxian!" After that display of utmost respect and reverence, the cute receptionist raised her eyes a tad while still covering her lower face behind the sleeves. "Would you like to meet with Madam Zhou Rui, perhaps?"

"Yes, please." Yunxian smiled cordially.

"Understood." The cute receptionist pressed a button under the table. "This way... my lady."

Afterward, they were escorted toward a VIP meeting room that was specifically fashioned for the people with the highest profiles only.

The group of women who were mockingly laughing at her immediately fell silent upon hearing Yunxian’s surname. Tang Family. One of the Ten Great Families who literally owned and monopolized the medicine supplies in the City of Long River.

A while after, the two were escorted and seated in a very luxurious room where all of the latest designs were displayed before being released.

Not even a minute later, Madam Zhou Rui’s footsteps were heard in the corridors and headed straight to the VIP Meeting Room from her study.

The door soon opened with a gust of excitement. A petite, cute and energetic lady burst into the room with open arms. Since Zhou Rui’s figure was much smaller and shorter than Yunxian, her face landed right into Yunxian’s chest.

"Yunxian! Ahh, it’s been a while! How have you been?"

"Busy, as usual. How about you?"

"Bored to death! I haven’t met with any male model that would fit with my vision. My brains would melt into a mush with all of these inspirations that yet need to be unleashed."

"Rui’er!" Yunxian held Zhou Rui’s squishy cheeks to bring her back to reality! "I have brought someone of great importance with me! Behave yourself!"

"Huhh?!"

The petite and slim lady soon glanced to the side. However, instead of waking up from her daydream, Zhou Rui was even more elated as she landed her gaze at the young man in a tattered black hanfu robe.

"I found him! Yunxian! I found the perfect model for newest collections!"
