While still lying in bed, Ash was already bombarded with dozens of questions by the West Borough Guard Captain. From the aura that he flaunted in any given chance, anybody could see that he was an 8th Stage Body Transformation Realm Cultivator. Of course, Ash concealed his Qi to a bare minimum so nobody would suspect him as the perpetrator.

Ash deliberately forged his own story. He said to the captain that he was being chased by Ma Jun and his entourage all the way down to the Southwest part of the jungle for the whole night!

"And, for what reason did they chase you? What did you do prior to the incident?"

"I was dining in peace at the Flying Fairy’s Tavern, and Young Master Ma Jun suddenly came in, causing a scene by forcing the cute, and petite barmaid to reimburse the luxurious robe that she accidentally sullied due to his own conduct last night. He claimed that his robe was made from Arachnid’s Silk and dyed with Yellow Autumn Ginseng. However, as an Appraiser of a certain great sect, I could sniff his blatant lies from miles away!"

"Hmph! I could care less about his business and his way of conduct. However, saying that his lousy, cheap robe was made from Arachnid’s Silk was akin to spitting shits right on my face! Worse, she even picked a powerless young girl! That alone is enough to make my guts churned upside down!"

"And from what sect did you hail from?"

"Hmph! I don’t have the obligation to tell you about my privacy. That’s everything you need to know from me."

Ash spat out another mouthful of blood into the bucket by the side of his bed. The female physician who was in charge of the infirmary at that time put Ash back in bed slowly.

"That’s enough for today! Let him rest! I would not forgive you if he ought to die just to answer your dumb questions! Now, get out!"

The Guard Captain and the other burly henchmen finally retreated to their post. Ash could finally breathe at ease knowing that they would not bother him anytime soon.

"My goodness, gracious." The female physician closed the door with a slight annoyance on her face. "What a bunch of insufferable buffoons!"

"Thank you for taking care of me, ma’am. And sorry to make you rush here so early." Ash remarked courteously since the female physician looked so matured and knows how to deal with men.

"Please, drop the honorifics, young lord. Name’s Tang Yunxian. But, everybody calls me Miss Yun, for short. And yes, I am not currently married to anyone..."

"Oh, okay..." Ash rubbed his chin. From the choices of her wording, Ash could tell that she used to be married off to somebody. But, he opted to not pursue her personal matter any further.

"Anyway... your Cultivation Base is quite low compared to Ma Jun, it’s a miracle that you survived that attack. You would have died if the claw went any deeper. You saved a girl from being extorted and about to be sold in the slave market and yet you got a big nasty scar on your chest. What gives?"

"Oh, you already know it?"

"Rumors and news travel fast within the city." Yunxian replied, smiling impishly, "Especially when it comes to someone of great importance."

Ash chuckled wryly. "She treated and served me well despite the social disparity between us. Is it wrong to appreciate other deeds with a bit of kindness?"

"Morally, I’d agree with you. However, my common sense would tell me to stay away from trouble. Unless... You have the means and strength to back it up."

Ash closed his eyes a few times as the drowsiness from the pain killer herb began to affect him. "Fret it not, Miss Yun. I am an Appraiser, an enemy of none! Ouch ouch... my ribs!"

"Ssshh... There, there. Rest easy now. I will prescribe the medicines to alleviate your pain and call the nurse."

"En. Thank you Miss Yun. I’ll be eternally indebted for your kindness.

Afterward, Miss Yun wrote something on a piece of paper and left the emergency room. As he was finally alone, Shanguang reached out his mind, talking from his Beast-Taming Space.

"Master... I am so sorry if I hit you too hard. Let me out, Master! I will lick your wound until it fully heals!"

Ash smiled softly. He also feels bad to force her to do such a reckless method. But, there’s no other way. If he ought to walk out of the jungle unscathed, he would fall under suspicion instead.

"No... it’s okay, really. You did exactly what you’ve been told to do. I have no regrets. Your action speaks volume of your unwavering loyalty and faith."

"En... I understand, master. I will return to my meditation."

Before long, Miss Yun had returned from the pharmacist with a basket full of medicine pills and herbs. However, she wasn’t alone this time. Beside her, a 6.5 foot man, with broad chest and robust shoulder entered the room. His deep, crimson robe rustled on the floor as he walked closer to his bed. His big body frame made this small infirmary room feel much smaller.

Ash could immediately tell who this man was even without asking. After Miss Yun placed the basket on a table, she left the room soon thereafter, letting the two have a ’man-to-man’ conversation between them.

"If it isn’t Lord Ma Yuan himself. What an honour. Please pardon my less presentable state."

"Xiao Hûo..." Ma Yuan’s bushy beard and mustache moved as he spoke. His blade-like eyebrows went straight to his high tempels, his sharp eyes stared daggers at the wounded young man.

"What do I owe for the pleasure?

Ash had anticipated this would happen as well. If Ma Yuan resorted on violence even if he was wounded, Ash would shift into his Beast Form, burn the city and flee amidst the chaos.

However, he didn’t expect that Ma Yuan would bow ninety degrees before him.

"On behalf of my late son’s mistake. I humbly beg you to forgive his sin and cease your resentment towards him so he could pass through the Circle of Samsara without a hindrance."
