Rebirth: The Comeback of the Girl -
Chapter 39 Property Registration
Chapter 39: Chapter 39 Property Registration
Han Mingyue fished out the property deed of the residence, and Zhen Yu was too frustrated to criticize.
Besides having Ms. Cheng’s name added as a co-owner, nothing else had changed.
Zhen Yu lethargically grabbed the household registration book; she had a premonition that Zhen Halong was definitely still the head of the household!
She laid out the household registration book, Mrs. Zhen’s ID card, and the two property deeds, then covered them with the metal box.
"What are you doing taking all these out?" Mrs. Zhen complained, reaching out to open the box.
Zhen Yu stopped her, "Mom! You are divorced!"
Mrs. Zhen looked bewildered at her daughter.
"Tomorrow! First thing tomorrow, go with Zhen Halong and change all the names on the household and property titles to yours! If he dares not to go, come home immediately and call me!"
Mrs. Zhen furrowed her brows, "Is this really necessary? What could possibly happen?"
Zhen Yu spoke earnestly, "Mom! Go and inform him right now! Tell him to make time tomorrow! If he refuses, I will go to his house tonight!"
Mrs. Zhen hesitated, "Do we have to change it? Your dad wouldn’t do anything fishy, would he?"
Zhen Yu, seeing her mother’s sentimentality, sighed and decided to reveal the truth.
"Mom! Ju Zhen is pregnant! Zhen Halong is going to be a father again! He’s no longer part of our family! Even if you trust him, can you trust that woman?!"
Mrs. Zhen sprang up abruptly, "Who told you this?"
Zhen Yu, still seated, weighed whether to further upset her mother or not.
Finally, she resolved, "She was already pregnant before your divorce! The child will definitely be born before the Spring Festival!"
"Zhen Halong!" Mrs. Zhen roared furiously.
Usually talkative, she fell silent after uttering only three words, as if suddenly bereft of words to describe her current emotions.
Zhen Yu clapped her hands, inwardly pleased with this scene.
Luckily she found out today, so she could cut off Mrs. Zhen’s misplaced benevolence earlier.
If these names weren’t changed, who knows when they might be schemed against by the Jus and left homeless.
"Hurry, Mom! Arrange with him to change the names tomorrow!"
Mrs. Zhen stormed off, muttering resentfully, "I’m going now! If he dares refuse, I’ll expose him!"
Zhen Yu watched her mother slam the door and leave, then sat on the kang and sighed deeply.
-
It took her a moment to realize there was still a living person hiding in her room~
She rushed into the small bedroom like a gust of wind, but no one was there.
Han Mingyue, this bookworm! Why is she still lingering?
Zhen Yu climbed onto the kang and yanked open the curtains of the north window.
Swoosh----
The windowsill was narrow, Han Mingyue had to curl up her body tightly to not reveal herself in the curtains, her legs now numb.
Suddenly losing cover, she shivered fiercely like a startled rabbit and toppled onto Zhen Yu’s lap.
Zhen Yu kneeled on the kang, startled by the impact, she screamed then instinctively reached out to help, her right arm wrapping around Han Mingyue’s waist.
With her left hand, she managed to lift her up, but then realized this wasn’t right, it was as if she was holding a baby!
The thought crossed her mind, and Zhen Yu, as if electrified, released her hands abruptly, not knowing what to do.
Han Mingyue miserably banged her head on the kang again, feeling awkward, ashamed, agitated, embarrassed - as if spices from a spice shop were knocked over, mixing in confusing flavors.
She wanted to sit up on her own, but every movement made her feet itch unbearably.
The small kang only left space for half a person, offering no room to maneuver.
Enduring the numbing pain which was bitterly sweet, Han Mingyue finally spoke, "You get down first."
"Uh, oh!" Zhen Yu realized and jumped down to the floor.
Han Mingyue sat up, silently placing his feet on the ground and gently tapping them.
Zhen Yu sat down beside him, rocking her body back and forth, and asked, "Are your legs numb?"
"Yep."
Zhen Yu suddenly turned slightly shy like a young girl, her tone soft, "About earlier, I’m sorry."
Han Mingyue knew she was apologizing for having left him behind, but didn’t want to dwell on it and simply nodded to move past the incident.
The two of them just sat there boringly for a while.
Once Han Mingyue’s feet were back to normal, he immediately stood up and, standing tall, looked down at Zhen Yu.
Zhen Yu looked up at him, not speaking.
Han Mingyue swallowed nervously and after a long pause managed to say, "I’m thirsty."
Zhen Yu lowered her eyelids and stood up, "Wait here."
-
It was only after the girl left the bedroom that Han Mingyue felt the air around him flow again.
The tense atmosphere had made him uneasy, but he didn’t want to just leave. Biting his lip, he walked over and sat down at Zhen Yu’s desk.
Zhen Yu brought back two glasses of water, placing one gently next to Han Mingyue’s hand. She took a nearly finished essay collection from the shelf and sat down at Zhen Yan’s desk.
When Zhen Yu was close to finishing the second book of essays, Zhen Yan returned.
Before he appeared, his voice was heard, "Little sister, I’m hungry!"
Zhen Yu glanced at the clock, it was past four in the afternoon.
Han Mingyue closed "Essays 36 Strategies" and waved it at Zhen Yu, "Can I take this with me?"
"Of course," Zhen Yu replied immediately.
Han Mingyue stood up with a smile, "I’ll head out now. Shall we go buy stationery tomorrow morning?"
Just as Zhen Yan entered the room, he immediately said, "I’ll come too!"
Zhen Yu responded offhandedly, "Not taking you."
Zhen Yan glared, "Who’s not taking who? I’m not taking you!"
Zhen Yu exposed her brother’s secret, "You have no money."
Zhen Yan looked sideways at his sister, "I’ll ask mom for some tonight!"
"I won’t let her give you any."
Zhen Yan stamped his foot, "Watch if I can get it!"
The siblings bickered non-stop.
"..." Han Mingyue and Zhen Yan exchanged a look, shook his head slightly, and walked away.
-
Zhen Yu was cooking dinner again.
As soon as Mrs. Zhen entered the house, she started complaining, "Xiao Yu! I’ve talked to him! We’re going to change the name tomorrow!"
Entering and seeing the table set and dinner ready, Mrs. Zhen went back to the kitchen to wash her hands and continued ranting, "That ingrate~ thought he could drag it out, but I aired all his dirty laundry!"
"As soon as I mentioned it, he admitted everything! That heartless scoundrel! Lucky you reminded me today, otherwise he’d be a ticking time bomb! Imagine if one day, he sells us all without us even knowing!"
Zhen Yan was a bit confused and raised his voice, "Mom! Who did you talk to? Change what name?"
Mrs. Zhen sat on the edge of the kang bed, angrily taking her bowl and said, "Change the names on the property deed and household registration! From tomorrow, I’m the head of the household! Kicking that SOB off our household registration!"
Zhen Yan suddenly understood and nodded, "Right! Mom, you be the head! He’s remarried; why keep him on our registry!"
Zhen Yu spoke slowly, "It’s not that he’ll sell us, but without changing the property deed, he could secretly sell the house."
"Really, little sister?" Zhen Yan jumped in shock, "Mom, change it quick! I don’t want to end up on the streets!"
Mrs. Zhen banged on the table and swore, "Change! I’ll do it tomorrow! Everything that can be changed!"
