Chapter 105: Unexpected Intruder
Chapter 105: Unexpected Intruder
"How can you just barge into this room like this? This is a private room." Annabel Blackwood snapped, clearly vexed by the intrusion. "Do you want to—"
She stopped mid-sentence, startled as she caught a clear view of the woman’s face.
Noticing Annabel’s sudden silence, Sarah Blackwood turned to see who had entered. Her eyes widened faintly, but she said nothing at first. The room was plunged into a heavy silence.
Then—recognition dawned.
"How...?" Annabel gasped.
It took a few moments for their eyes to fully believe what they were seeing. But those striking, unforgettable dark green eyes—they gave her away. Only one woman had those. The woman both sisters hated, feared, and could never fully get rid of.
Jazmine Harrison.
"It’s been a while, Sarah," Jazmine said smoothly as she stepped into the room, completely ignoring Annabel’s scowl. She wore a calm smile, an expression that only made her feel more dominant—collected, above them. "It wasn’t easy finding you. But I managed. I wanted to give you a little surprise before I left for Beijing. After all... it wouldn’t be right to leave without saying goodbye. We were close once, weren’t we?"
Jazmine gestured to the empty chair across from Sarah. "Would you mind?"
Sarah blinked once, then shook her head slowly. "No."
She wasn’t unaffected, but she wasn’t panicking either. Deep down, she’d always known this moment would come. Jazmine’s amnesia had never been permanent. And now that she was back in full, it was only a matter of time.
"Do you remember everything?" Sarah’s tone was soft, but there was a flicker of unease in her eyes—like there was something hidden she didn’t want dug up.
"I wouldn’t say I recall everything," Jazmine replied, her voice thoughtful, enigmatic as ever. "But I remember enough. I remember you were the one who brought me here six years ago. I remember how we met. And I remember the bond we once shared."
Her tone was gentle, even affectionate—but her gaze was sharp.
Sarah gave a dry laugh. "So... you do remember everything."
There was something in her expression—like she was finally peeling off the polite mask.
Jazmine smiled. "You were the one who introduced me to Sebastian Crowne. In that sense, I suppose I owe you. So, for what happened back then... I can forgive you."
The mention of Sebastian’s name hit Sarah like a quiet slap. Her smile vanished, and her eyes lost some of their focus. It was a name she had fought not to think about, not to speak aloud.
"Who do you think you are?!" Annabel finally burst in. "Forgive her? The nerve! Who gave you the right to even speak to her like that? She’s a Blackwood, daughter of one of the most powerful families in this city! And you’re... what? Some nobody trying to act superior?"
Annabel’s words dripped with venom. The Blackwoods still didn’t know the full truth about Jazmine’s identity. They didn’t know she was the President of Tang Enterprises, and certainly not that she was married. Dorian Blackwood had learned the truth too late—and kept it from them, perhaps to save face.
In Annabel’s eyes, Jazmine was still just some woman who had seduced her way into Sebastian’s life. That ignorance made her arrogance all the more laughable.
"How did they even let you in?" Annabel sneered. "The service at this club is getting worse every week."
Jazmine’s eyes never left Sarah.
"I say I can forgive you for what happened back then," she continued calmly, "because it wasn’t entirely your fault. But don’t think I’ll be so generous if anything like that happens again."
Sarah stared at her for a long moment. "You’ve changed, Jazmine."
Jazmine’s smile deepened. "If I hadn’t, wouldn’t it have been easy for you to get rid of me again?"
The tone was light. But the words weren’t.
"Excuse me!" Annabel’s voice rose again, her rage building. "Did I not say something to you?!"
She reached toward Jazmine’s arm, furious. But the moment Jazmine looked at her—icy, disdainful—Annabel froze.
"You wouldn’t dare touch me," Jazmine said coldly.
Annabel’s hand dropped back. A chill ran through her. But fury quickly followed.
"Mind your damn manners, Jazmine! I don’t know what nonsense gave you confidence, but let me remind you: You’re nothing. If not for Sebastian’s favor—"
"Are you done?" Jazmine cut her off mid-rant. She let out a yawn and looked at her with a bored expression. "If you’re done, can I go back to what I came here for?"
Annabel blinked, stunned by the indifference. The insult was almost too surreal.
"You want to be thrown out?" she hissed. "You think I wouldn’t dare? The club owner is practically begging us to partner with him. One call from me, and they’ll drag you out by your hair."
Her threat hung in the air like a poisonous fog. Her implication—about using influence, favors, and worse—wasn’t subtle.
"I’d love to see you try," Jazmine replied coolly. Her tone was pure steel. "Let’s see who dares lay a hand on me."
Her gaze made Annabel feel like trash. Something unworthy of her time.
"We’ll see about that." Annabel gritted her teeth, yanked out her phone, and began dialing furiously. "You think Sebastian will still find you so charming when he sees you thrown out like—"
But before she could finish her gloating, Sarah stood up.
She walked quietly to her sister and placed a gentle hand on her arm. "Elder sister... stop."
"What are you—"
"Why must you always be like this?" Sarah whispered. Her tone was gentle, but her words cut. "She only came here to say goodbye. Why must you be so vicious?"
There was genuine pain in her voice. Her expression was soft, her eyes glassy with unshed tears.
"You’re my sister by blood," Sarah continued, "but sometimes you make me wish you weren’t. I don’t know where this cruelty in you comes from..."
Even Annabel was stunned. For once, she didn’t know what to say.
But far from them, Jazmine’s lips curled into a faint smile.
She hadn’t missed the moment that triggered Sarah’s change in attitude.
Because standing in the doorway—watching the entire scene unfold in silence—was someone unexpected.
And his presence changed everything
