Chapter 1173: Chapter 1145 Everything Just Right Chapter 1173: Chapter 1145 Everything Just Right “Congratulations to me… for what?!”
Underpants!
A bolt of lightning struck Mario Yuno on the head, leaving him dizzy and speechless, even suspecting he was hallucinating.
Before Kiara could catch the crucial three words about becoming a father, she heard someone congratulating them.
“My brother is still lying there, didn’t you see? What are you congratulating for when he’s like this!” Kiara was anxious inside, feeling a blur before her eyes; she suddenly felt the world spinning and blacked out.
Mario quickly supported her, and Kiara collapsed into his arms, frightening Mario enough to pale in shock.
He hadn’t even had time to recover from the joy of being a father before he was startled like this.
“Pregnant women shouldn’t have blood transfusions… so we suggest Auntie donates blood. Although direct relatives are not usually recommended because it might lead to immune reactions in blood transfusions between them, at worst causing transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease, which is a transfusion complication we always try to avoid. But your brother’s blood type is too rare, and we don’t have it in the blood bank. Rest assured though, the chances of developing the disease are very, very low, and we will also irradiate your Auntie’s blood to kill the white cells to significantly lower the risk of complications–”
“Why did my love faint?” Mario didn’t want to listen to the nurse’s explanation; he was more concerned about Kiara.
“Don’t worry, sir, your loved one has a pregnancy, and her emotions might fluctuate more. She must have fainted from worry. Just hold her and let her rest on the bed for a while. If you are still concerned, I’ll make a call and have the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department doctor from Second Floor come down to check on her.”
Mario hurriedly carried Kiara to the bed and then asked the nurse.
“My daughter-in-law… is she really pregnant?!”
Mario’s expression frightened the nurse speechless. In fact, he himself didn’t know what he was saying, all instinct, his mind filled as if a host of little angels were each saying a piece.
Your daughter-in-law is pregnant.
You’re going to be a dad.
Then a chorus of little angels echoed, Daddy, Daddy~
His mind was full of calls for Daddy!
But, to the nurse, his shocked expression conveyed a different meaning, leaving the nurse feeling extremely uneasy!
Why are you coloring your face with a grim expression? Could it be… the child isn’t his?!
“Your loved one is pregnant, we saw it when testing the blood, and since she looked young, we added a blood hcc test. It turned out that your loved one is already expecting. We hadn’t even finished verifying your madame’s blood type before we rushed over to inform you!”
The nurse handed over the blood hcc test report, and Mario’s hand trembled like a sieve as he took it, peering at it… and not understanding it.
“Chorionic Gonadotropin at 250.41? What does 250 mean?!” Mario expressed dissatisfaction with the number.
What does this have to do with chubby, plump little children?!
He found it really hard to relate these cold numbers to the cute baby he had been eagerly awaiting; Mario still dared not believe that his wish had suddenly come true.
“It means your loved one is pregnant, it’s just that the pregnancy is still at an early stage.”
“Why couldn’t she detect it herself at home?” He remembered Kiara had just said she couldn’t find out.
“Did she test with a home pregnancy test? It’s normal not to detect it if the pregnancy is too early.”
“Ah…” Mario finally understood. No wonder his daughter-in-law had been acting so strangely lately, eating like a kitten.
They’d planned for so long without success, and then suddenly she was pregnant!
Mario Yuno’s emotions upon receiving definite proof were a mixture of sorrow and joy.
In normal times he would have been extremely happy, perhaps even picking up Kiara and spinning her around, but now the whole family was concerned for Arlong’s safety. He felt there was no other man in the world who could understand the dual complexity of emotions he felt upon learning of his wife’s pregnancy – filled with joy but worried sick about his brother-in-law who was still in danger.
The stark contrast between ice and fire in his heart was indescribable; he could neither fully rejoice nor succumb to sadness.
It wasn’t appropriate to be hopping around while Arlong was lying there fighting for his life; he could only suppress the surprise in his heart, consoling his mother-in-law while looking for the obstetrician to examine Kiara.
A while later, Kiara woke up to find herself lying down. At first, she looked at the ceiling with unfocused eyes. Then, suddenly remembering Arlong was in danger, she sat up abruptly.
“Kiara!” Mario Yuno quickly held her hand, and that’s when she noticed him sitting by her side.
“Hurry! Take me to donate blood for my brother!” She didn’t know why she had fainted, but the thought of Arlong filled her with urgency.
“Our mother has already given blood, it’s all right now.”
“No, I’m not reassured. I need to see Arlong. What’s happened to him?” Kiara asked anxiously.
“Arlong is fine now, don’t worry. Lie back down and rest, I need to tell you something–”
“To hell with not worrying, quickly take me to see him!” Kiara’s voice was laced with Fire as she insisted.
She was desperate to see Arlong, but Mario Yuno held her down.
“You stay put, the doctor said you need to rest well. You can see Arlong once you’ve calmed down.”
“How can I just calm down when my brother is like that?” The thought of Arlong’s uncertain fate started tears rolling down Kiara’s face.
She and Mario Yuno were now in a hospital double room, separated from another bed by a curtain. With the curtain drawn, it was just the two of them.
Mario Yuno had intended to let her down and take her to see Arlong, but after a moment’s thought, he pressed Kiara back down.
“Didn’t you always think he was no good? Anyway, that kid doesn’t appreciate all you do for him, so why do you still care about him so much?”
“Are you stupid, Mario Yuno? He’s my only brother. If I don’t care for him, who should I care for? I’m strict with him because I want him to follow the right path. But now, at this time, you’re still stopping me. If anything happens to him, I–”
At this point, Kiara’s voice broke, and tears came streaming down.
“But you’re pregnant now; the doctor said you can’t donate blood.”
“Whatever the case, I have to save my brother. If he dies, I can’t live in peace either. What do I care about being pregnant–wait, what did you say?”
“You’re pregnant. We just found out.”
Mario Yuno hadn’t yet fully recovered from the shock of his daughter-in-law’s pregnancy. When he thought about what she had been through these past days, he broke into a cold sweat, terrified by the close call.
This child was truly blessed with a great destiny; just arriving in their mother’s womb and already having survived two major crises. If Mario had not had the nurse change the IV medicine, or if Kiara had drunk the chicken soup that day, the consequences were too dreadful to contemplate.
“Our child is quite blessed. Look, our mother hardly ever comes to our home, but she just happened to be here today, and that saved our brother.”
Some things are just too coincidental, coincidentally perfect.
